The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1115: Chapter 1115: Nathalie: I am the Lighten Chaser

Tiffany Olsen and Nathalie Quinlan had been rehearsing together for a week, and Nathalie herself said that she had adapted the piece from its original composition.

That meant it was not quite the same as the original.

If Tiffany suddenly chose to use the original CD instead, the stage effect would definitely be inferior to the one they could achieve together!

From her perspective, since the two departments were already clashing, if Tiffany decided at the last minute to not let Nathalie perform, wouldn’t that just mean their department would be crushed even more by the clinical department?

Yet no one voiced any objections to Tiffany’s proposal.

Ezra Hoffman even took the initiative to look for the original music CD; she didn’t want to be the bad guy who pointed out that the stage effect would suffer.

But keeping those thoughts bottled up inside left her feeling rather frustrated.

Velnisa Irvin kept glancing at Nathalie, her brows furrowing slightly, as though she wanted to say something but chose to hold back...

If they’d known it would turn out like this, their department might as well have not participated in this year’s opening ceremony!

So even Mr. Norton’s student is nothing special, huh!

Nathalie wasn’t aware that someone was watching her—or rather, she never even acknowledged the prying gazes directed her way from beginning to end.

She saw Tiffany take a deep breath to adjust her mood, readying herself to go find the music teacher to discuss switching to the CD.

Composed, she intercepted her path: ”Tiffany, I can perform.”

”??” Tiffany was blocked again and froze for a moment, looking at her with slight confusion. She couldn’t understand why Nathalie insisted on performing in an event where their defeat seemed inevitable.

”It’s not as bad as you think.” Nathalie lowered her gaze, staring at her. She smiled—a grin tinged with a roguish, devil-may-care attitude, almost as if joking: ”Think about it from a positive angle. What if Caryn Zachmann isn’t Light Chaser, and I am Light Chaser instead.”

Tiffany: ”???”

Caryn Zachmann isn’t Light Chaser, Nathalie is Light Chaser?

Tiffany’s face filled with disbelief, unable to comprehend how she could spew something so fantastical. She quickly checked to see if there were any students from other departments nearby, and upon confirming it was just their own Chinese Medicine department, she breathed a sigh of relief. Then she looked at Nathalie with a genuinely sympathetic gaze: ”Nathalie, I know you’re trying to comfort me.”

But isn’t this kind of comfort a little too far-fetched?

Kind-hearted, she swallowed back that thought, fiddled with her earlobe, and tried to soothe Nathalie instead: ”Don’t worry, I’m fine. I’m thick-skinned. If I go out there, I go out there—it’s no big deal. Even if later in the cafeteria people stare at me more, it’s not like they could eat me alive. It doesn’t bother me. But you...”

She racked her brains, searching every corner of her mind for comforting words, and earnestly advised: ”You’re this year’s top scholar in the college entrance examination. A lot of people are paying attention to you. It’s better if you don’t go on stage; just let me handle this.”

Nathalie looked at the baby-faced girl who seemed genuinely concerned for her, feeling a bit of a headache. She dropped her earlier nonchalant attitude and grew serious, interrupting her: ”Tiffany, I really am Light Chaser.”

”...”

Tiffany’s expression turned complicated. Her lips opened slightly, tempted to say—[If you’re Light Chaser, then I’m Light Chaser’s dad!]—but she liked Nathalie a lot and managed to suppress the urge.

The girl tugged at the brim of her hat, her fingertips white and glowing, her side profile porcelain-like in its smooth elegance. Her expression was even more solemn than before as her red lips curved into a boldly arrogant smile: ”We won’t lose face, because I really am Light Chaser.”

Backstage, in another lounge.

Caryn Zachmann sat on the only chair by the vanity, fiddling with her manicured nails. Two days ago, she had deliberately gone to a nail technician to have them done, just to match the SEVEN haute couture evening gown she was going to wear on stage today.
