”Should we take this chance to leave now?”

Xiao Yan asked in a low voice, ”If that Medusa succeeds in her advancement, she’ll become a Rank 7 magic beast—equivalent to a Dou Zong. What if she...”

He felt a little guilty. After all, he had stared at her body earlier—saw everything there was to see, whether he should have or not.

”No rush. Let’s wait a bit longer,” Wei Yang said casually. ”A spectacle like this—why not stay and watch? I think, even if she really does succeed in advancing, she wouldn’t do something that foolish.”

”She’s been burned by the Heavenly Flame for so long—if she does succeed, she’ll be heavily injured. At a time like this, focusing on recovery would be the wise thing to do, not picking a fight with me. Besides, she has no reason to attack me.”

”Uh... alright, let’s observe for a while longer.” Xiao Yan had no choice but to nod.

Out of the corner of his eye, Wei Yang glanced at Xiao Yan and deliberately asked, ”Tsk. You look like someone with a guilty conscience. Don’t tell me you did something shady just now?”

”No, not at all!” Xiao Yan shook his head quickly in denial, though his eyes darted uneasily.

”Hehehe.” At that moment, Yao Lao’s teasing chuckle echoed in their ears.

”You weren’t trying to be like Xu Xian, were you?” Wei Yang asked in surprise.

”How could that be?! Don’t talk nonsense!” Xiao Yan widened his eyes and waved his hands repeatedly.

He definitely didn’t want to be like that ancient figure—so bold and courageous, leaving behind a tale that people still talk about with admiration to this day.

Back in his hometown, Xu Xian and Ning Caichen were absolute legends.

”Xiao Yan, who’s Xu Xian?” Yao Lao asked curiously.

”Uh...” Xiao Yan suddenly stammered, looking awkward and unsure how to explain.

”He’s a legendary figure from a folk tale—just a regular mortal, not even a Dou Zhe. Yet he managed to fall into a deep, unforgettable romance with a magic white serpent—um, a Rank 7, human-form magic beast that had cultivated for a thousand years.”

Wei Yang sighed in admiration. ”Now that is the pinnacle of living off a woman’s power.”

”Amazing!” Yao Lao was also stunned.

For a mere mortal to land a magic beast who had cultivated for a thousand years and could transform into a human—that was truly the blueprint for a fast-track to success!

That kind of luck was simply heaven-defying.

A Rank 7 magic beast no longer needed a Body Transformation Pill to take human form.

And in terms of intelligence, they were no different from humans.

For such a powerful being to fall for an ordinary man—it was simply incomprehensible.

”Hehe, Xiao Yan, if you think about it, you’re not too different from Xu Xian. Don’t forget about Yun Zhi,” Yao Lao chuckled strangely. ”Add Medusa to the mix, and hey, why not?”

”...” Xiao Yan.

He had to admit, it was indeed... tempting.

BOOM!

Suddenly, a deafening roar rang out from the dark clouds above.

In that instant, heaven and earth lit up. A massive bolt of silver lightning tore through the clouds and struck the charred figure below.

BOOM!

The entire island at the lake’s center trembled. Everyone’s eardrums buzzed from the shock.

The lightning came swiftly and disappeared just as fast.

Even before the thunderous echoes faded from their ears, the dark clouds above began rapidly dispersing.

Soon, the soft light of the moon once again bathed the land.

As the ringing in their ears faded, everyone’s eyes turned toward the center of the now-barren island.

There, wisps of smoke lingered in the air as ash gently spread out.

The charred remains from before—completely vanished. In their place was only a small, circular crater.

”Where’s Her Majesty the Queen?!”

”Her Majesty!!!”

Cries of alarm erupted from the snake-people, their faces filled with shock and disbelief.

Could it be...?

That terrifying bolt of lightning just now had reduced the last remnants of Her Majesty’s body to ash?

As this terrifying thought settled in, despair appeared on the faces of every snake person.

”Wha...” Xiao Yan was also dumbfounded.

This plot twist... was just a bit too dramatic.

Medusa, who had seemed so close to a successful advancement, had just been—what? Struck to ash by a single terrifying bolt of lightning?

A strange sense of melancholy rose in his heart. He couldn’t quite describe the feeling.

The infamous, awe-inspiring Queen Medusa—this woman who had once been a nightmare to the upper ranks of the Jia Ma Empire’s powerhouses—had she really... fallen just like that?

Wei Yang shook his head and turned away. ”We should go.”

”Yeah.” Xiao Yan nodded silently.

Swoosh!

With a flap of his dark flame wings, Wei Yang grabbed Xiao Yan. With a flicker of movement, they turned into a streak of black light, darting across the lake surrounding the island in just a few flashes. Moments later, they hovered above the lake’s edge.

The anti-flight barrier surrounding the lake, faintly shimmering with purple light, seemed to have no effect on Wei Yang whatsoever.

Holding Xiao Yan in one hand, he flapped his black wings and soared swiftly toward the city’s outskirts.

”You damn human! Where do you think you’re going?! Stop right there!”

Several powerful auras of Dou Wang level surged into the air, blocking Wei Yang’s path.

”You humans killed Her Majesty the Queen, and you still want to leave?” A burly snake-people man roared in fury, eyes blazing like fire.

Wei Yang stopped, a bit helplessly.

Below, countless snake-people stared up at Wei Yang and Xiao Yan hovering mid-air, their eyes filled with hatred.

Wei Yang frowned and said, ”We were only here for a transaction. It was Medusa’s own choice to use the Heavenly Flame for her evolution—what does that have to do with me?”

”If you humans hadn’t come to our Snake-People Clan, if you hadn’t brought that cursed Heavenly Flame, Her Majesty wouldn’t have taken such a risk!”

That burly Dou Wang roared, ”It was you—it was you who got Her Majesty killed!”

”Heh, can’t take a shit and now you’re blaming the ground’s gravity for not pulling hard enough?”

Wei Yang laughed casually, ”Are you sure you want to stop me?”

”Hmph! Stop you? I want to kill you!” The burly Dou Wang’s eyes were blood-red.

”Our Snake-People Clan has just suffered a massive upheaval. The two of you might as well stay here for a while,” another Dou Wang, one who seemed a bit calmer, spoke up.

”I’ll say it again. I was only here for a transaction. Whatever happened to you has nothing to do with me. I can understand how you’re feeling right now, and I get it... but that’s no excuse to pick a fight. My patience has limits.”

A cold curve appeared at the corner of Wei Yang’s lips. He slowly extended a hand from his sleeve.

In his palm, three vividly lifelike black fire-dragons slithered around, radiating a terrifying aura that made several of the Snake-People Dou Wangs’ pupils contract as they instinctively took a step back.

”Out of my way!” Wei Yang shouted coldly.

The Dou Wangs trembled slightly, their expressions hesitant—but they didn’t move.

Down below, several more Snake-People Dou Wangs stood conflicted.

Yue Mei and the female guard captain were among them. Clearly, they didn’t know whether they should step in to block, or just let Wei Yang and Xiao Yan leave peacefully.

After all, Her Majesty had once given a direct order: Wei Yang and Xiao Yan were not to be stopped.

Seeing this, Wei Yang slowly turned, his gaze directed toward the depths of the restricted zone. ”You three... still not planning to say something? If you don’t show yourselves, I don’t mind leveling this entire city.”

”Arrogant!” several male Snake-People roared, their fury boiling over.

Below, countless Snake-People glared with burning eyes.

Wei Yang couldn’t be bothered to respond, simply looking toward the depths of the restricted zone with a calm gaze.

There, three old, hunched figures watched the scene silently.

Three elderly Dou Huangs—elders of the Snake-People Clan, their true foundation.

They remained silent.

”Good!” Wei Yang smiled, his eyes flashing with killing intent. ”In that case...”

Aooo—!

The three little fire dragons opened their mouths and roared in fury.

Their draconic cries echoed through the entire city.

A faint dragon might spread out, causing many Snake-People’s expressions to change dramatically under the pressure.

Yao Lao’s voice rang in both of their minds.

”Xiao Yan, in a moment, clear your mind. I’ll take possession and get you out of here. Brat Wei, don’t get entangled—just break out with force. Don’t worry about us; I’ll stick right behind you!”

”Yes, Master,” Xiao Yan nodded, ready at any moment.

”Alright,” Wei Yang nodded as well.

Once he got rid of the dead weight named Xiao Yan, and with the Snake-People having lost Medusa?

Heh, he had nothing to fear!

”Then...” Wei Yang slowly pushed his palm forward, a cruel smile appearing on his face. ”You can all go to hell.”

Just then—

”Stop—”

An elderly female voice rang out, echoing through the night sky and into everyone’s ears. ”Mister Wei, please stop. You may leave freely.”

Wei Yang’s hand paused slightly.

Aooo—!

The three little fire dragons in his palm continued to roar furiously, still poised to strike.

He snorted coldly, ”Finally willing to speak? I thought you were just going to sit there and watch.”

”Elders!” All the Snake-People turned toward the restricted zone’s depths, bowing respectfully.

”All of you stand down. Let Mister Wei and his companion leave,” the elderly voice rang out again.

The few blocking Dou Wangs frowned, lips twitching slightly. In the end, they could only sigh in frustration and descend to the ground.

”But—!” Only the burly Snake-People Dou Wang, Mo Ba Si, panicked. He still refused to step aside, shouting anxiously toward the restricted area: ”Elders! You can’t let these damned humans leave!”

”Mo Ba Si, this was Her Majesty’s order, and the decision of us three Elders. Do you mean to defy it?” the elderly voice responded calmly. ”Would you like to experience the Ten Thousand Serpents Devouring the Heart punishment?”

Mo Ba Si instantly trembled all over, cold sweat pouring from his forehead. ”M-Mo Ba Si wouldn’t dare!”

He cast one last unwilling glare at Wei Yang and Xiao Yan before gritting his teeth and landing on the ground.

”Mister Wei, you may leave freely. I will not see you off,” the elderly voice said.

Wei Yang slowly retracted his palm without another word. He flung his sleeve, grabbed Xiao Yan, and with a flap of his black wings, their figures turned into a stream of light and shot away.

The speed was shocking—like a streak of black lightning flashing through the night. Within moments, they vanished.

Countless Snake-People could only stare as they disappeared into the night.

A deep, bitter sorrow blanketed the entire Snake-People Holy City.

Moments later—

”AAARGH! Damn humans! I, Mo Ba Si, swear I will never let you go!” the burly Snake-People Dou Wang, Mo Ba Si, raised his head and let out an anguished, furious roar.
