Suppressing his various thoughts, Wei Yang lifted his foot and lightly kicked the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent that lay there like a dead snake, eyes closed and utterly limp.

He smiled and said, ”Qing Lin, this is a pet for you.”

”Heehee, okay.” Qing Lin covered her mouth and giggled, her eyes narrowing with joy like two crescent moons.

”It’s been years, and I didn’t expect it to have reached the Rank 5 too.” Xian’er looked at it curiously.

”Maybe it got beaten up too much over the years and experienced so many life-and-death situations that it finally unlocked its potential,” Wei Yang chuckled. ”It’s doing pretty well now. After all, it’s a Rank 5 magic beast. With proper training, reaching the peak of the Rank 5 isn’t hard. As for the Rank 6... well, that’s another story.”

”Mm.” Xian’er nodded.

”Rank 5 is good enough. At least for now, it’ll be a great help to Qing Lin,” Wei Yang said, turning to look at her. ”As for how to train it and how far it can go, that’ll depend on you.”

”Mm.” Qing Lin nodded vigorously.

In her heart, she had already made up her mind. This was a pet given to her by her young master—no matter what, she would definitely put in the effort to raise it well in the future.

”Let’s begin.” Wei Yang waved his hand, and a translucent soul barrier with faint black flames spread out, dome-shaped, covering the platform and isolating all fluctuations from escaping.

Qing Lin stepped forward to the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath before opening them again.

In her eyes, three eerie green flowers slowly appeared.

A strange light shot out and enveloped the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent.

Its eyes fluttered open—four snake pupils filled with terror. Its body writhed, seemingly trying to struggle.

Wei Yang raised his hand and lightly pressed down, completely suppressing its movement.

After that, everything went smoothly.

When the eerie green glow receded, and a tiny green flower appeared on each of the serpent’s two foreheads, the beast was successfully tamed.

This time, apart from her face turning a little pale, Qing Lin didn’t pass out.

She closed her eyes, silently adjusting her breathing and restoring herself.

Wei Yang and Xian’er didn’t speak or disturb her. They exchanged a glance, both visibly amazed.

Even though it was their second time seeing this, they couldn’t hide their shock.

This strange eye technique was just downright unreasonable.

Her own strength wasn’t strong, yet she could tame a Rank 5 snake-type magic beast as easily as eating or drinking.

It only took a few moments to finish.

Absolutely ridiculous.

...

When the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent opened its four eyes again, the violence was gone. Its gaze toward Qing Lin was gentle and obedient.

A little while later—

Qing Lin opened her eyes. Her complexion had mostly recovered, and she looked at Wei Yang with excitement all over her face.

”Young Master, I did it!”

”Mm, I saw. If you hadn’t succeeded, that would’ve been strange,” Wei Yang said with a smile, waving his hand to withdraw the soul barrier.

He flipped his palm and took out a small jade bottle, handing it to Qing Lin. ”This is a Tier 4 healing pill I casually refined while I was with the Snake-People Clan. Feed it to it.”

”Thank you, Young Master.” Qing Lin cheerfully accepted the jade bottle, opened the lid, poured out a pill radiating rich medicinal fragrance, and fed it to the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent.

”You’re covered in red scales, so from now on, I’ll call you Little Red.” She patted the serpent’s head, smiling with squinted eyes. ”This was refined by Young Master himself—it works really well. Big Eye had one before too, so go on and eat it.”

The Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent obediently opened its mouth. Its tongue flicked out and gently wrapped around the pill before swallowing it.

Wei Yang took out another bottle and handed it to Xian’er. ”Here, this one’s for you.”

”Thanks, Brother Yang.” Xian’er took the jade bottle, opened it, and poured out a pill to examine. Then she smiled and said, ”Looks like you guys gained a lot of medicinal ingredients during your trip to the Snake-People Clan. You even had enough to spare refining so many healing pills.”

”Ha~” Wei Yang chuckled self-deprecatingly.

As a Tier 6 alchemist, refining two bottles of Tier 4 healing pills and being called generous... it really showed how down and out he was.

Didn’t match his status at all.

”I traded the ingredients for pills with the Snake-People Clan. I had nothing better to do for a few days, so I casually refined a couple of bottles. Just some Tier 4 ingredients. The Snake-People Clan has plenty,” Wei Yang said, flipping his hand and taking out four jade boxes with a smile.

”These are two peak Tier 6 and two Tier 7 medicinal ingredients. All of them are fairly rare and can be used as main ingredients.”

”Aiya~” Upon hearing this, Xian’er immediately exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. She quickly stashed away the healing pill and excitedly took the four jade boxes, asking eagerly, ”That’s great! Did you get these from the Snake-People Clan too?”

Every time she saw high-grade medicinal ingredients, Xian’er would get overly excited.

She had a hobby—collecting herbs.

Wei Yang shook his head and smiled. ”It was Xiao Yan. He lent the Green Lotus Core Flame to Medusa as a trade with the Snake-People. He got these from them and gave me four.”

”So nice.” Xian’er held the jade boxes in her arms with a delighted smile, radiating happiness.

”You, little herb maniac.” Wei Yang affectionately rubbed her head.

”Hmph.” Xian’er snorted lightly, shaking her head and rubbing it against Wei Yang’s palm, her eyes squinting in joy.

Wei Yang couldn’t help but smile too.

In his heart, Xian’er, who had accompanied him through his weakest moments, undoubtedly held a special place.

At least for now, she was far more important than Qing Lin.

If he ever had to choose between Xian’er and Qing Lin—if it came down to it—Wei Yang would almost without hesitation choose Xian’er.

Of course, this was only hypothetical.

Such a situation, such a choice, simply didn’t exist.

And Wei Yang wouldn’t allow it to exist.

——

After feeding the healing pill to the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent, Qing Lin quietly waited for its recovery.

She suddenly patted her sleeve, looking down in confusion. ”Big Eye, what’s wrong? You want to come out too?”

”What’s up?” Wei Yang and Xian’er turned to look.

”Big Eye seems agitated, like it wants to come out,” Qing Lin explained, her gaze tinged with inquiry.

”If it wants to come out, let it. It’s not like there’s anyone else around.” Wei Yang said casually.

”Mhm.” Qing Lin nodded and waved her hand.

Whoosh!

A yellow-brown shadow shot out from her sleeve and instantly transformed into a massive beast over twenty meters long, coiling itself atop the platform.

Its giant pale golden eyes sparkled with strange light, and the moment it appeared, it eagerly began circling the Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent, clearly restless.

The snake, in the middle of healing with its eyes closed, immediately became alert at Big Eye’s presence. It opened its four crimson pupils and stared warily, its body tensing up.

However, when it sensed a familiar aura from Big Eye and saw the faint outline of a small green flower pattern glowing on Big Eye’s forehead, its tension eased. It closed its eyes again, ignoring the other creature.

Big Eye didn’t mind the cold shoulder at all. In fact, it became even more enthusiastic, inching closer, flicking its tongue, and letting out soft hissing sounds.

The Two-Headed Flame Spirit Serpent continued to meditate, showing no response.

It looked completely aloof.

Seeing this, Big Eye only became more eager, lifting its head slightly and swaying it gently.

Its large eyes seemed to sparkle, radiating excitement.

”Big Eye, her name is Little Red. She’s our companion now, so you’re not allowed to bully her!” Qing Lin placed her hands on her hips and gently scolded.

Hiss hiss~

Big Eye kept nodding and softly hissed, as if saying something, looking at Qing Lin with a flattering expression.

Qing Lin’s cheeks suddenly turned a little red. She pursed her lips without replying and shook her head lightly.

Hiss hiss~

Big Eye grew more anxious, the tone of its hissing now containing a pleading and coquettish tone.

The scene left both Wei Yang and Xian’er stunned.

What... was going on?

”Qing Lin, what’s with it?” Xian’er asked curiously.

”It... um...” Qing Lin’s small face flushed crimson in an instant. She stammered, her brows tinged with shyness and charm, lowering her gaze and avoiding Xian’er’s eyes.

”Big Eye... don’t tell me it’s... in heat?” Wei Yang’s mind flashed with realization, and he blurted out.

”Mm...” Qing Lin lightly nodded, her voice barely above a whisper.

”Uh...” Xian’er was stunned at first, then her face also flushed bright red.
