Chapter 641: The Child Isn’t Yours

”Come on! You’re usually so good at making excuses for yourself, aren’t you? What’s the matter? Can’t find an excuse this time?” Nangong Bing puffed out her chest, her tone aggressive and confrontational.

”You faked a pregnancy just to get me to come back?” Lin Zifeng’s temper also flared up.

”What if I said yes?” Nangong Bing said indifferently. She had thought she was truly pregnant, which is why she had asked Lin Zifeng to come back, but now she sees his displeased expression.

She couldn’t stand this attitude. After all they had been through, he still seemed to not care at all. What kind of attitude was that? Did she mean so little that having him come back would cause him to lose face?

”Well, Nangong Bing, you really have a lot of free time on your hands.”

”When have I ever been free?” she retorted sharply, her beautiful eyes flashing with anger.

”Don’t you understand me at all?”

”Understand? How about you try understanding me for a change? You’re always out and about, never coming home. Now that we’ve already been intimate, you’re still out doing whatever... Do you even care about how I feel?”

Having said this, she felt more and more justified. Him not coming home has always been a sore spot for her, yet he remained stubborn, showing no understanding for her feelings. Why shouldn’t he understand her?

”All right, you forgive me for faking a pregnancy so I’d come home?” Lin Zifeng chuckled bitterly.

”Say whatever you want,” Nangong Bing didn’t bother to explain and simply crossed her arms, tilting her head defiantly against him.

She was always such a proud person; even if things weren’t as they seemed, she wouldn’t explain.

Now Lin Zifeng, already frustrated, became even more annoyed upon hearing this.

”Nangong Bing, can you please stop making a scene?”

”I, what am I making a scene about?” The woman, already on edge, furrowed her brows, tilted her head, and glared at him.

Lin Zifeng didn’t explain further and just took a couple of deep drags on his cigarette in silence.

”Lin! Speak up, will you?” She stormed up to him with her hands on her hips, clearly in no mood to let him leave unless he explained himself.

”What do you want me to say?” Lin Zifeng slowly raised his head, looking at her blankly.

Seeing Nangong Bing in such a fury, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache.

He knew that Nangong Bing had nothing left now, not even her most precious thing, which she had already given to him. If he couldn’t treat her properly now, he would be worse than an animal.

”So, when you told me to stop making scenes, were you implying that I normally make scenes?”

”Uh... Just pretend I was farting when I said that, okay?” He squeezed out a smile, obviously trying to appease her.

”You realize your mistake? You know what you did wrong?” she asked haughtily, lifting her chin. She wasn’t a vengeful woman; on the contrary, Nangong Bing was headstrong but easily swayed by kind words. Sweet-talking could easily soften her up, but direct confrontation would get one nowhere with her.

Hearing her words, Lin Zifeng sighed heavily, unsure how to respond.

Seeing him silent, her eyes shimmering even more brightly, she was just about to lecture him again about coming home more often to prevent her from feeling lonely at home, when suddenly, the man in front of her stood up.

”What, what are you doing!”

Nangong Bing, startled as Lin Zifeng suddenly stood up, blinked twice, unsure of his intentions.

”Nothing. Just suddenly felt a bit of back pain,” Lin Zifeng grinned and then sat back down on the couch.

This only infuriated Nangong Bing even more.

But it didn’t seem right to say anything more.

The two of them just stupidly sat together, watching the TV. The program being broadcast was about the animal world! Lin Zifeng had initially planned to watch a bit before ignoring Nangong Bing’s irrational behavior, but then the content turned out to be animals mating...

This made Lin Zifeng feel very uncomfortable.

And Nangong Bing? She thought Lin Zifeng had deliberately chosen this program for her to watch. This only fueled the fire between them even more!

”You...”

”You have to let me explain,” Lin Zifeng hurriedly said. Seeing her expression slowly turning more terrifying, Lin Zifeng knew he was in trouble.

Nangong Bing was probably furious now.

”Aren’t you going to change the channel?” Nangong Bing’s chest heaved with anger. She truly didn’t know whether Lin Zifeng was doing this on purpose or not.

”Okay, okay,” Lin Zifeng didn’t hesitate and quickly changed the channel for her.

This somewhat calmed Nangong Bing’s anger.

”Is that better now?”

Lin Zifeng spoke with a placating smile on his face.

Nangong Bing ignored him, turning her head and continuing to watch her program.

And Lin Zifeng remained silent.

He thought to himself, sighing, ”Although being single can be lonely, there’s also a certain joy in it.”

Even though he was no longer single, he had lost the freedom of being single.

”Hey, can’t you change the channel again?” This time, Nangong Bing spoke up again.

Lin Zifeng hadn’t paid much attention when changing channels, and the content broadcasting was a Thai drama, which he couldn’t understand at all.

”Then you pick something yourself,” Lin Zifeng handed her the remote and then stood up to head to his own room. Since he couldn’t handle it, could he not at least avoid it?

”Where are you going?”

Nangong Bing glanced at him and asked from behind.

”Time for bed!”

Lin Zifeng turned his head in surprise and looked at her.

”Alright then.” She said no more.

Oh, how strange.

Lin Zifeng shook his head and quickly slipped back to his own room.

Let her calm down first, and then come down again. Otherwise, she would definitely drive him insane.

Once he was back in his room, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The situation didn’t seem too optimistic. Lin Zifeng was thinking about his future. He certainly had offended quite a few people by now.

If he didn’t become more powerful, those people would surely come looking for trouble one by one.

Meanwhile, outside the living room, Nangong Bing was tiptoeing sneakily, attempting to get closer to Lin Zifeng’s room, looking incredibly guilty, which was both annoying and funny.

”What is this guy doing alone in his room? He couldn’t be unhappy just because of a few words from me, could he?” Nangong Bing worried to herself.

Truth be told, Nangong Bing had lost her temper because she had been provoked.

Now that she thought about it, she felt she had gone too far and felt somewhat regretful. Here in Xiangwu, Nangong Bing was actually thinking about apologizing to Lin Zifeng.

But how would she know that Lin Zifeng wasn’t concerned about the incident at all?

She pressed her ear against the door, listening to the sounds inside.

However, five minutes passed, and she heard nothing. This made Nangong Bing wonder: could it be that he really went to sleep?

Impossible. He had just gone in, how could he have fallen asleep so quickly?

Nangong Bing was very curious about what Lin Zifeng was doing inside, so she continued to press her ear against the door, paying close attention to any sound from within.

”Bang!”

Suddenly! Nangong heard a loud noise coming from inside the room.

At this, Nangong Bingjiao’s body trembled slightly. Could it be that he was being self-destructive inside?

No, that’s not right. With his temperament, how could he possibly harm himself?

Nangong Bing was becoming more puzzled.

Meanwhile, inside the room, Lin Zifeng was practicing Kung Fu. He had recently obtained a Fist Manual, and although it wasn’t particularly powerful — at least in his view — practicing it was still beneficial.

Practicing punches in the small room, every now and then his fists would create a loud booming sound as they moved through the air.

This Fist Manual was manageable and not too complicated. But for Lin Zifeng, it was still quite helpful. If it came to close combat, he definitely had an advantage.

However, Lin Zifeng was thinking that the Fist Manual seemed to lack something. It shouldn’t be this simple.

”Bang, bang, bang!”

After throwing several punches, Lin Zifeng felt that the Fist Force was not fierce enough, meaning the essence of the Fist Manual was missing.

In Dark Prison, his body had been trained by the old man to have a powerful musculature. So, in close combat, he had an absolute advantage and wouldn’t lose to an ordinary person.

However...

While Lin Zifeng was practicing punches in the room, Nangong Bing, standing at the door, could clearly sense the muffled sounds from inside and thought Lin Zifeng was in a temper, which turned her face pale with fear.

”He, he can’t have such violent tendencies, right? It’s too much to lose such a temper,” Nangong Bing thought to herself, deciding it couldn’t be true. With Lin Zifeng’s temperament, at least he wouldn’t lose his temper so erratically, nor would he be so prone to violence.

Considering this, Nangong Bing hesitated for a moment, wanting to knock on the door and check, but thinking about backing down so quickly felt too embarrassing.

She ought to keep up appearances, after all.

”Bang!”

Suddenly! Lin Zifeng punched the wall, and the clear, dull sound made Nangong Bing instantly anxious. She could clearly tell that the punch had hit the wall.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be such a loud dull sound.

”Bang, bang, bang!”

Nangong Bing frantically knocked on the door to prevent Lin Zifeng from becoming violent.

”Who is it?”

Lin Zifeng’s voice came from inside the room.

”It’s me!”

Nangong Bing was frantic.

”What’s wrong?” Lin Zifeng grumbled. He just wanted some peace and quiet to practice his punches.

”What are you doing all alone in your room? Why won’t you come out?”

Nangong Bing shouted from behind the door.

”I’m practicing my punches,” Lin Zifeng said.

”It’s over! He really has violent tendencies, he isn’t self-harming, is he?” Nangong Bing jumped, getting more and more scared. Her words earlier were indeed a bit harsh, but that shouldn’t have provoked him to violence and self-harm so quickly.

”Lin Zifeng, please open the door, I have something I want to talk to you about,” Nangong Bing kept knocking on his door, thinking Lin Zifeng was losing it.

Thinking about what she had said, Nangong Bing regretted it deeply. In fact, she did care a lot about Lin Zifeng. It’s just that sometimes she spoke too directly and bluntly, often hurtful to others.
