Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 602: Chapter 595: Liking Is Not the Same as Loving

One would have thought that after Long Tianya had delivered a slap, he would stop.

But to everyone’s surprise, he let out all the fury in his heart onto Mu Cangtian.

A couple of slaps weren’t enough, and he went on to give Mu Cangtian more than a dozen hefty ones.

Even the man in black, mysterious to all, felt his heart jump with shock. How deep must the hatred be?

”May I ask if you truly are the legendary Dark Angel, senior?” At this moment, Lin Zifeng, who had been closely observing the situation, was not foolish and hurried forward to ask respectfully.

For even Mu Cangtian, whom everyone dreaded, to fear this man, it clearly demonstrated the terror of this man in black.

Back when Nangong Shui was still alive, he had told Zifeng a story about the Blazing Angel, and if the man before him truly was a member of the legendary Blazing Angel, then he must have a significant connection with the old man in the Dark Prison.

After all, the Magic Bracelet on his own wrist was personally given to him by that old man.

The man slowly turned his head, his eyes, dark and glossy, sized up Zifeng and he chuckled, ”Yanjing is not a place for you. Leave quickly, and never set foot in Yanjing again.”

Having said that, the man once again focused his sharp gaze onto Mu Cangtian, whose face was full of resentment.

He cackled, ”Don’t look at me like that. Even if all the oddballs from your Mu Family come out, I will still smack you today! And the Long Family too!”

”Alright, now that he’s had his fun, it’s your turn to have a go,” the man said, pointing at Long Tianya.

Clang——

Long Tianya’s heart, which was hanging in suspense, suddenly plummeted.

”However he slapped you, that’s how you’ll slap him back until you’re satisfied,” the man said with mischievous laughter.

This left Mu Cangtian once again turning blue with embarrassment. So it seemed he was being made to play a cruel game of dog-eat-dog.

Before overwhelming power, all resistance was futile.

Just now, Long Tianya had slapped him to the brink of death. Now it was his turn to slap the other, and although he appeared extremely unwilling on the face of it, Mu Cangtian felt a measure of satisfaction inside.

So, slapping me felt good, didn’t it?

Now it’s my turn to slap you!

”That—”

”Smack!”

Long Tianya’s eyes had just begun to bulge as he tried to say something.

But Mu Cangtian’s impatient slap had already met him head on.

This one slap nearly sent all of Long Tianya’s teeth flying out of his mouth.

Utter humiliation!

Utter humiliation! This was outright utter humiliation!

It wasn’t just a slap on the face of the Long Family but also on the face of the Dragon Team.

Zifeng couldn’t help but wonder just how formidable this man in black was?

The one known as the king of the Dragon Team was slapped without a hint of temper, which showed how heaven-defying the Blazing Angel Organization must have been back in the day.

If Zifeng wasn’t wrong, the old man in the Dark Prison was surely a former member of the Blazing Angel.

No wonder his strength was heaven-defying.

It was just unclear who was stronger now, the old man or the Dark Angel in front of them.

Seeing the situation had settled, Zifeng knew better than to stick around. He slowly walked over to Mu Yang, who was weakened to the core, and swept the beauty into his arms.

He carried her away right in front of the entire Mu Family, even under Long Tianya’s watch, whose eyes nearly popped out.

”This, this...”

All members of the Mu Family present nearly had their eyeballs fall out.

Just like that, Mu Yang was taken away right in front of the Mu Family...

The man in black nodded, contented, and silently laughed to himself: Your great-grandma’s grandpa, you’re exactly like me back in the day!

...

At three-thirty in the afternoon, inside Yanjing International Airport.

Mu Yang looked visibly disheartened.

Her face, usually sensuous and bewitching, now showed signs of distress due to her absentmindedness.

She no longer knew how to face Lin Zifeng, let alone how to confront her own family.

Now that such a big issue had arisen, she felt incredibly conflicted. She had thought that taking Lin Zifeng home to annul the engagement would be simple, but things had turned into a mess.

She had no idea how to manage in the days to come.

Fortunately, her grandfather within the family was backing her up; after this incident, what did it matter if she never returned to the Mu Family?

Yet she couldn’t help fearing that after today’s face-slapping event, the Long Family would surely target Lin Zifeng in the future.

”What’s the matter? Still troubled by what happened today?”

In Lin Zifeng’s memory, Mu Yang had always been a uniquely confident and proud woman. She’d always carried herself with composure and tranquility, and in front of anyone at the company, she had the persona of a powerful female leader.

”No.”

”Then why the long face all the time?”

After pondering for a short while, the woman slowly lifted her gaze, her eyes shimmering as they settled on him, and said, ”Do you like me?”

”I do,” the man replied instantly, without even a thought.

”Do you love me?”

”I don’t.”

Hearing Lin Zifeng’s honest response, the woman’s serene expression didn’t change color.

”I don’t love you either.”

Her answer was just as honest.

Because there was no love between them.

And it seemed impossible there ever would be.

”Why don’t you love me if you like me?”

”Liking someone is different from loving them. To love someone is to give selflessly without expecting anything in return. Liking someone is just about possessing them on one side.”

”I agree with you. I like you, but I don’t love you, or to put it differently, our relationship is purely that of bedmates.”

Mu Yang managed a bitter smile.

Perhaps she truly was a bit lonely and empty inside.

To escape the pressure from her family, she had sought out Lin Zifeng.

Now that everything was out in the open, she admitted she had never loved him, maybe just as he said.

Liking him was only about having him for herself.

She had always envied the wife who had such a man to herself, always wishing she could make Lin Zifeng entirely devoted to her.

She had never understood what it meant to give, nor did she comprehend the concept of selfless devotion.

Her satisfaction was merely physical, yet she had no understanding of what love truly was.

Many people think, after reading numerous web novels, that if the male lead is handsome and the female lead is beautiful, they’ll fall in love at first sight, but that’s all just talk from the novels.

How can a relationship that hasn’t withstood the test of time be called love?

It turned out that with just a few words, Lin Zifeng had clarified her thoughts, and Mu Yang’s state of mind became somewhat clear.

”You’re right, loving someone is about selfless devotion without expecting anything in return. Maybe we really can’t be together; we’re at best bedmates, or maybe you’re just a kept man to me, and that’s all there is.”

”Er, hehe, you can interpret it however you want,” the man said, his lips twitching involuntarily. Seeing Mu Yang regain her usual grace, he felt as if a weight had been lifted from his heart.

”Let’s go.”

Mu Yang suddenly stood up, joy flickering through her alluring, elongated eyes.

”For what?”

”Obviously, to carry out our relationship as bedmates—”

Er—
