Chapter 623 I, I’m Afraid They’d Laugh at Me for Being Silly

”Uh.” Zheng Liang scratched his head embarrassingly, as he also didn’t know how to answer her question.

After all, whether her brother was Lin Zifeng was still a matter of doubt.

”Oh, little sister, is your last name Lin as well?” Zheng Liang asked with some confusion.

Looking at them, the two didn’t seem very similar either.

”Mhm. I share the same last name as my brother.” Lin Chuqing nodded earnestly, her chubby little face covered with sweat. She had walked all the way here, reluctant to spend money on a bus.

A classic long dress that had whitened from washing, coupled with a t-shirt that had soaked up a lot of sweat, perfectly showcased the figure of a youthful girl.

It was just unfortunate that she was blind.

Zheng Liang and a group of young security guards shook their heads, feeling sorry for the girl.

”Little sister, what are you holding in your hands? Did you come all this way just to deliver these items?”

At this point, the young security guard beside Zheng Liang couldn’t help but ask.

”This, this contains the chicken soup I personally asked my brother to stew.” The girl’s voice slowly grew lower as if she was afraid everyone would laugh at her silliness.

All this way for a bottle of chicken soup.

”Chicken soup? Little sister, where do you live? You look sweaty, did you run a lot just now? Didn’t you take the bus?” Zheng Liang kindly asked.

The girl’s moist eyes blinked twice, and she lowered her head, her voice as faint as a mosquito, ”I, I don’t know how to take the bus.”

Certainly, the question caused a slight fluctuation in the girl’s emotions.

She truly didn’t know how to take the bus; she had rarely traveled by vehicle because, as a blind person, once off the bus, she couldn’t distinguish directions and even routes remembered could become confused.

Thus, generally, blind people were hesitant to take buses alone, especially a poor, orphaned child like her.

”Uh, sorry. It’s all my fault for asking the wrong question, little sister. I didn’t mean it, please don’t be mad at me.” Zheng Liang quickly stated with a broad smile, trying to apologize.

But his rough voice frightened Lin Chuqing, causing her delicate figure to involuntarily step back two paces.

Just then, Lin Zifeng’s figure finally emerged from inside the company.

From afar, he spotted Chuqing standing at the entrance of the security office, not entering, letting the harsh sun bear down on her.

”Chuqing!” Lin Zifeng called out excitedly.

”Brother!”

Lin Chuqing’s eyes suddenly brightened, she turned her delicate body, her gaze like water fixating on the direction of the voice, her whole face instantly flushed with overwhelming excitement.

”Uh, tell me Zheng, when did Lin get such a sister?”

The guys at the security office quickly surrounded Zheng Liang, all somewhat confused.

”All of you, cut it out! You ask me, but who am I to ask?”

Zheng Liang glared at them and said, ”Mind your own business when it comes to Lin’s affairs.”

”Uh, okay then.” The security guards fell silent and shrugged, their gazes still lingering on Lin Zifeng.

”You, how did you get here?”

Lin Zifeng approached and asked.

”Brother, didn’t you tell me the name of the company where you work last night? So today, I specially made a trip to come see you.”

The girl’s face still held many beads of sweat, her fine hair intermixed with the sweat.

”Look at me? You came all this way, aren’t you hot?” Lin Zifeng looked at her in surprise.

”Brother, are you angry?” Lin Chuqing’s head gradually lowered.

”Brother isn’t angry, Brother just feels bad that you had to come all this way. Didn’t I leave you a phone number last night?”

”I, I can’t see, I can’t make the call.” The little girl’s voice gradually lowered.

A blush that couldn’t be hidden quickly covered her small face.

Hurriedly holding up the thermos in her hand, she revealed a green smile and said, ”Brother, I made chicken soup for you. Drink it while it’s hot; you look so thin.”

”Chicken soup?” Lin Zifeng’s thick brows slightly contracted, ”Did you come all this way just to bring me chicken soup?”

”Brother, Chuqing knows she’s very poor and can’t buy anything nice, nor can she afford to take brother to a restaurant, but this is all Chuqing can do.”

”Fool! Would brother care about these things? I want to know why you’re so good to me?” Lin Zifeng felt a warmth in his heart; a few manly tears started to well up, this was the first time he had felt the warmth of family affection in five years.

”Because you’re my brother now, you’re the only family I have in this world. As a poor blind girl, you accepting me as your sister already satisfies me greatly. In this world, aside from grandma, you have been the kindest to me. I’ve already lost grandma; I don’t want to lose a brother who is kind to me.”

The man didn’t speak, his large hand trembling slightly as he took the chicken soup Chuqing handed to him.

”Brother, try my cooking and see if it suits your taste.”

The girl’s smile was very charming, especially when she smiled with those dimpled cheeks shining under the sunlight, her eyes clear as water, sadly never having the chance to meet this world.

Lin Zifeng felt deeply moved and without thinking, he drank all the chicken soup.

Listening to the sounds of the man drinking, the girl felt very satisfied, though her throat involuntarily moved twice.

Usually, she rarely bought chicken or similar meats; this was the first time in half a month that she had bought it, and she didn’t even take a sip of soup.

”Have you eaten?”

”Heehee, I had already eaten at home,” she replied, ”you are eating what I left.”

”Uh-huh.” Lin Zifeng, with tears of emotion, drank the entire bottle of chicken soup.

It was only when he handed the thermos back to the little girl.

Lin Zifeng then noticed there was a scald mark between the little girl’s fingers!

”What happened to your hand?”

Lin Zifeng, heart aching, quickly took the little girl’s fingers to inspect them closely.

Lin Chuqing quickly withdrew her hand, still smiling cheerfully, ”It’s nothing, it’s nothing, just accidentally burned it,” she said.

The little lady laughed.

”Does it hurt?”

”It doesn’t hurt anymore, it’s already better.”

Lin Chuqing shook her head vigorously, saying, ”Brother, you should get to work. You can’t miss work because of me; they will deduct your salary. Go on, go back fast.”

The little girl quickly urged Lin Zifeng towards the direction of the company.

”Can you get back home alone? I better take you home.”

”No need, no need, I know the way back. I still have to buy flowers at the flower shop later anyway, I just came to see you on the way. You should get back.”

Lin Chuqing kept pushing him, then waved her tiny hand, holding a white cane that shouldn’t belong to her age group, and step by step headed towards the direction of the road, her sweet smile seemingly forever captured in time, that warm smile suddenly tugged at Lin Zifeng’s heart.

”Crap! I still haven’t dealt with the matters at Old Buddha’s.” Lin Zifeng quickly ran towards the council chamber.
