Chapter 615 The Old Buddha’s Intent

”Did I just let you see that for nothing?” Su Ni glared at him furiously.

”So what do you want?” Lin Zifeng said indifferently, taking a drag from his cigarette, looking at her helplessly.

”Obviously, to take responsibility for me!”

”Take responsibility?” Lin Zifeng’s facial muscles twitched slightly as he looked at her with a strange expression.

”Are you trying to take advantage of me without owning up to it?”

”Alright, you’re sick, I don’t want to argue with you,” Lin Zifeng replied with an expressionless face.

”You...!”

Su Ni was about to retort when a sharp pain from her wound made her face, which was moist and fair, turn pale again, and she lay weakly in the car, staring fiercely at him with her clear, jewel-like eyes.

...

Not until after he had sent Su Ni to the hospital and dealt with the formalities did Lin Zifeng leave. Before he went, he reminded her kindly not to overexert herself in the future.

As for that old cop nicknamed Lao Wu, Lin Zifeng couldn’t be bothered to pay him any mind.

That was their own department’s business; Lin Zifeng had no intention of muddying the waters.

It was just that this trip to the mountains with Su Ni to collect some data would have to be postponed.

Not long after leaving the hospital, his phone rang again.

The caller ID showed it was Black Hawk’s number; Lin Zifeng answered the call without hesitation.

”What’s up?”

”Lin Ge, the kid you asked us to look after has started to pick a fight with Bai’s Martial Arts Club in the East District tonight. I’m afraid he won’t be able to handle it. Should we give him a hand?”

”Are you saying Shao Huo is going to battle Bai’s Martial Arts Club tonight?” Lin Zifeng was shocked. It had only been a few days, and this kid was already ambitious enough to think about swallowing up Bai’s Martial Arts Club?

Although Bai’s Martial Arts Club was only a medium-sized society in the East District of Zhonghai City, and along with Zhang Yuxuan’s Butterfly Gang, it was one of the three major powers in the East District, the club was still formidable. At least, it had some clout within its area of influence in the East District.

”Yes, following your orders, our brothers from the Martial Arts Society have been secretly protecting this kid. According to the intelligence we’ve gathered, this kid has quite an ambition, already starting to recruit petty thieves around the school to form his own small society.”

”Also, Lin Ge, I just don’t understand why you’re cultivating this Youth Party member. If you really want to eliminate Bai’s Martial Arts Club, our brothers from the Martial Arts Society could definitely level it in one night. Is it worth putting in all this effort?”

Black Hawk was a simple man who simply heeded Lin Zifeng’s words; this was something his slow-witted brain couldn’t figure out.

”Heh, you don’t understand,” Lin Zifeng said, breaking into a slight smile with his cool, sunny lips.

”So, if this kid can’t hold on tonight, should we help him?” As for why Lin Zifeng was taking care of this kid, Black Hawk didn’t understand, and he was not one to question things. As long as it was Lin Zifeng’s command, he wouldn’t say another word, even if it meant suicide, he would have no complaints.

”You go with Bu Chen tonight. But don’t take action just yet. Wait until the kid can’t hold on anymore, then help him out,” Lin Zifeng instructed.

”Got it, Lin Ge.”

After hanging up the phone, Lin Zifeng touched the corner of his mouth and smiled. He hadn’t expected the kid to be so ambitious.

He was actually using his own abilities to rally a group of Youth Party members at the school, daring to battle a real black power just with his hot blood, truly the recklessness of youth.

But this was good too; it was time for the kid to face some setbacks, so he wouldn’t think he could rule the entire world in the future.

As for why Lin Zifeng was nurturing this ambitious wolf, he was very clear in his mind.

...

When he returned home in the evening, it seemed that the Old Buddha was still not over her anger.

Looking at that ice-cold visage, Lin Zifeng even began to wonder—did she think the entire world owed her millions or something?

Was her face etching out an invoice?

In the past, whenever Lin Zifeng came home, the old man would come forward to greet him, asking warmly about this and that.

Well!

But today, she didn’t even bother to wrinkle her eyebrows, continuing to sit in silence next to the window of the large hall, her nose practically touching the desktop as she worked.

Ten slender and smooth jade-like fingers rapidly tapped on the keyboard, her pink eyebrows locked in concentration, not even blinking as she stared intently at the report she was writing on the computer.

”Cough cough.!”

Someone covered his mouth and coughed twice.

But she completely ignored him as if he were nothing.

That certainly made someone feel somewhat helpless and emotional.

Women are truly terrifying creatures—how can they flip their attitude so swiftly?

Even as the man coughed twice, Nangong Bing remained uninterested in as much as frowning.

At this, Lin Zifeng couldn’t help but lament that he really must have done something wrong.

Well!

If she was going to ignore him, he wasn’t about to lose his dignity over it. Let it be a cold war then.

At this moment, the woman who was busy typing sneakily glanced at the man. When she saw he had turned his head away, she hastily withdrew her gaze, pretending to be engrossed in her typing, ’tap tap tap’—you know the drill.

Seeing that the man hadn’t noticed her stealing a peek.

The woman quietly let out the breath she had been holding, her cherry lips pursed, and with a somewhat fiery look, she glanced at him again.

Feeling resentful.

She thought to herself: Fine, play it that way, Lin. I ignore you, and you ignore me, is that it? Are you even acting like a man? Do you think that if I give you the cold shoulder, you should just ignore me? After all I’ve done for you lately, oh... Men, what hypocrites they are.

Thinking this, Nangong Bing felt even more pitiful; she had been so good to him, how could he still not understand her feelings?

There she was, shamelessly making advances on his indifference and he still had the look of ignorance; was he playing dumb or doing it on purpose?

Wuu wuu, you pig-headed fool, if you didn’t like me then why did you kiss me before? Wuu wuu, and touching me, you’re nothing but a huge jerk!

With these thoughts, the woman’s mood sank even lower. Though she maintained a facade of composure with an icy expression, who could understand the tumult of feelings hidden within?

Yet, what she didn’t know was that after all these days, the man had indeed fallen for her.

Only the matter of the Dark Prison and the secret of the Magic Bracelet remained unsolved.

In the future, he was certain to have to boldly venture into the Dark Prison alone. If he were to die there, wouldn’t that leave her heartbroken without intention?

”Hey! Don’t eat that, it’s already gone cold.”

Just as Lin Zifeng was about to lift the cover off the dinner she had personally prepared on the table, Nangong Bing suddenly spoke up.

Oh? The old man personally cooked dinner, got it ready for this brute, and even reminded him not to eat it cold.

There might be a chance here!

”What’s up?” the man asked, looking at her confused.

”Just don’t eat it because I said so!” Nangong Bing furrowed her brows, offering no explanation.
