Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 573: Chapter 566 Registration for Field Sketching

”President, I’ll go busy myself then.”

”Go ahead,” Nangong Bing waved her hand.

She closed her eyes, meditating on the many things that had happened during this period, as if it were all a dream.

After a while, she picked up the phone and dialed a number, her heart felt a faint sweetness as she looked at the displayed number.

It took about ten seconds for the call to be answered.

”Are you free tonight?” Though Nangong Bing was asking for the other person’s opinion, her naturally cold disposition meant she never knew what tenderness was.

There was a pause on the other end of the line.

”Are you free tonight?” Nangong Bing lightly parted her lips and asked again.

”Is there something tonight?” Lin Zifeng asked in surprise from the other end of the phone.

”I, I’d like to invite you to dinner. Do, do you have time?” After thinking for a long time, Nangong Bing still mustered up a bit of courage to ask.

Although she now knew Lin Zifeng’s identity, the relationship between the two seemed a bit vague, with neither expressing the other’s feelings.

The phone went silent for a while, Lin Zifeng didn’t speak for a long time. He knew Nangong Bing was beginning to have feelings for him, but with so much on his shoulders right now, he really didn’t want anything to happen with Nangong Bing. Whether he lived or died in the future, he didn’t want to drag her down with him.

Seeing that the call had been silent for a long time, Nangong Bing felt as if her heart was being wrung with pain inside her office.

Still, she put aside her queenly demeanor, and in a soft voice said, ”I, I would like to invite you to dinner, can you come back?”

These days Nangong Bing’s mood had not been very good, it took a long time for the death of Nangong Shui to let the businesswoman queen recover, and Lin Zifeng had also been investing most of his energy in Shadow Group, so they hadn’t seen each other for several days.

”Uh, haha, tonight?” On the other end, Lin Zifeng gave a pained smile and said, ”I might not be able to come back tonight. How about another day? Let’s eat together another day, after all, there’s plenty of time in the future.”

”Oh, alright then.” Nangong Bing slightly furrowed her willow-like brows, nodding in disappointment. She felt uncomfortable, a bitter taste flowing through her heart, but mostly she felt awful.

The relationship between them now seemed to have a clear change. Before, Lin Zifeng seemed to be pursuing her to a certain degree, but now it had reversed, with Nangong Bing pursuing him.

After hanging up the phone, Lin Zifeng’s resolute face gradually showed a trace of bitterness.

He understood Nangong Bing’s thoughts, but with the matter of Dark Prison still unresolved, there were many times he could not make promises.

Promises may, to a man, just be words spoken.

But promises can give a woman endless anticipation and hope. He didn’t even know if he would survive in the future, and his relationship with Nangong Bing was now fraught with hesitance.

In the classroom, Lin Zifeng smiled bitterly again and again, incessantly flipping through the newly purchased archaeological research materials, but couldn’t find any useful information even after a long time.

Now, the mystery of the bracelet grew greater and greater, with many powers from various countries looking for it, it seemed the secrets of the bracelet were far more terrifying than Lin Zifeng had imagined.

Though he had now mastered the bracelet’s function of foretelling the future.

Every time there was danger, the bracelet would flash a few times, allowing him to predict the imminent peril, as if it could foresee the future.

”Brother Lin, what’s up?”

At this moment, Shao Huo walked into the classroom with his books in hand. Seeing Lin Zifeng staring blankly on the table, he couldn’t help but express his concern.

”It’s nothing.” Lin Zifeng glanced at him and noticed that this guy had been looking quite slick and carefree lately.

”How’s it going? Is anyone at school still daring to bully you?”

Shao Huo curled his lip, his eyes lit up, and he said with a sleazy grin, ”How could they? Now, those guys at school act like they’re seeing a living Bodhisattva when they meet me. Whoever dares to provoke me, I’ll cripple them!”

It was evident that in the last few days, Shao Huo had undergone a significant transformation, his temperament leaping forward as if transformed. This change had started slowly since the night Lin Zifeng had let him kill someone.

However, his scoundrel-like appearance still remained.

”Oh? Getting ambitions, huh?” Lin Zifeng smiled at him, already considering in his heart the idea of nurturing him.

”Hehe.” Shao Huo scratched his head sheepishly, then his eyes gleamed as he whispered, ”Brother Lin, there are still a few tough nuts in the school. Although they haven’t troubled me yet, I’m afraid it won’t be long before they do, so I’m planning to learn some Taekwondo in the meantime.”

”Learn Taekwondo?” Lin Zifeng put down his textbook, slightly stunned, and asked with casual surprise, ”You want to learn Taekwondo?”

”Yeah, if you want others to submit, you’ve got to show who has the stronger fist.” Shao Huo nodded earnestly, ”I need strength. As long as I have strength, nobody will dare bully me in the future.”

”That’s a point,” Lin Zifeng looked at him deeply but didn’t say much else.

He wanted to become stronger, and that was not a mistake; after all, everyone seeks higher places and everyone aspires to go further in life.

”Hey! Why are you two still here? Why haven’t you gone to the meeting room to gather yet?”

While they were chatting, a not-so-pretty chubby girl with a backpack walked over.

She looked at them in surprise.

”What’s the matter? Is there some activity today?” Lin Zifeng looked at her in surprise.

Looking at Shao Huo then, this guy was bowing his head, his face red, and he didn’t speak.

”The school has organized an outdoor sketching event today. Haven’t most of the Archaeology Department students already gone to gather? Why are you two still here? Alright, I won’t chat anymore; if I don’t go now, they’ll leave without me.” Saying this, the chubby girl gave a sweet smile and waved her hand before walking away.

”Outdoor sketching? What does that mean?” Lin Zifeng tilted his head and asked.

”The school has been organizing activities recently, arranging students from several departments to take part in an outdoor sketching event. It’s especially helpful for us in field archaeology since archaeology essentially relies on practical experience, so there were a lot of sign-ups these few days,” Shao Huo explained.

”Then why aren’t you going?” With Shao Huo’s love for excitement, his not going seemed pretty odd.

”I, I just don’t want to go,” Shao Huo stammered awkwardly, but the reality was that he didn’t have the money. The school required each student to pay a thousand yuan to participate in the outdoor sketching, and for a poor student like Shao Huo, such a large sum was completely out of reach.

”Is it because you’re a bit strapped for cash?” Lin Zifeng saw through his thoughts instantly. The school’s arrangement of the outdoor sketching was likely a money-making scheme, and it was clear that Shao Huo simply didn’t have the money, which was why he wasn’t going.

”No, activities like this are just the school’s way of extorting money. It doesn’t matter if you go or not,” Shao Huo said, forcing a smile.

However, Lin Zifeng had already seen that he actually wanted to go. For a student with excellent grades like Shao Huo, this kind of outdoor sketching event would undoubtedly be beneficial for his future in archaeology.

Suddenly, Lin Zifeng slapped his thigh, stood up, and said with a laugh, ”Let’s go. We’ll sign up too and treat it as a trip.”
