Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 545: Chapter 538: Makes You ’Despicably’ Smile

”He hits you, you hit him back the same way,” Lin Zifeng said expressionlessly, feeling helpless toward this timid classmate.

Hadn’t he himself been bullied five years ago?

”Lin, Brother Lin, I, I dare not,” Shao Huo finally voiced his true feelings. Even the way he addressed Lin Zifeng had changed.

”Why?” Lin Zifeng asked.

”Lin, Brother Lin, I’m scared,” Shao Huo said, his voice trembling. Despite Qiu Dongwei standing right before him, with backers of his own, Shao Huo was still frightened to retaliate.

”Alright, I won’t make it hard for you.” With that, Lin Zifeng walked over to Qiu Dongwei and kicked him several meters away.

It took a while before Qiu Dongwei managed to get up. With the help of his friends, he scurried away in utter terror.

Watching Shao Huo nervously clutching the hem of his clothes, Lin Zifeng patted his shoulder and walked away.

As Lin Zifeng’s retreating figure moved away, Shao Huo’s eyes grew increasingly moist.

He knew he couldn’t compare to Lin Zifeng. After all, his family was too poor, nowhere near affording confrontations with the wealthy. Even if bullied, he could only suppress it within his heart. Yet, when Lin Zifeng told him to hit Qiu Dongwei, a burst of rage almost erupted within him; regrettably, he ultimately restrained himself.

...

The afternoon was better without Yan Qingcheng in class, allowing Lin Zifeng to fully enjoy himself. Noticing Shao Huo beside him lacking in spirit all afternoon, Lin Zifeng nudged his arm and suggested with a smile, ”Come on, let’s go have a drink.”

”Ah! No thanks, Brother Lin, you go ahead. I’m not thirsty,” Shao Huo forced a weak smile.

”Oh.” Lin Zifeng nodded, not insisting further. After all, both were walking different paths. Lin Zifeng joined Yunhai University to uncover the secret of unlocking his bracelet, whereas Shao Huo concentrated on his studies, hoping to secure a non-competitive job with good benefits in the future.

But Lin Zifeng was unaware that Shao Huo’s situation wasn’t as ideal as he imagined.

Yunhai University itself was famously recognized across Huaxia for having a large disparity between the rich and the poor. Those who could study here were either the rich second generation or the destitute students who attended through scholarships and part-time jobs.

In this environment of stark wealth disparity, poverty meant not only the inability to date beautiful upperclasswomen but also failing to win over adorable underclasswomen.

Nowadays, women tend to be realistic, and if not, reality defeats them eventually.

In college, men often worried about their future prospects, while women worried about their looks, as being attractive was seemingly a lifetime advantage over the struggling ones.

Just as he left the Archaeology Department building, he happened to run into Yan Qingcheng!

Damn it!

”Why is my luck so bad?” Lin Zifeng silently lamented.

”Stop right there!”

Yan Qingcheng sharply commanded.

Seeing someone pretending not to notice her with his head down agitated Yan Qingcheng.

”You played basketball pretty well today.”

Unexpectedly, Yan Qingcheng actually praised his basketball skills?

Lin Zifeng looked at her in shock and then chuckled nervously, ”Thank you.”

Once he finished, without waiting for Yan Qingcheng to react, he hurriedly walked away with a sullen face.

”Stop!” Yan Qingcheng called out again.

”What now?”

”Did I tell you to copy the school rules a hundred times?” Yan Qingcheng leaned against the wall, hands on her hips, watching him with a pleased expression. Remembering their recent intimate encounter under the desk, her heart skipped a beat.

”Uh, you really want me to copy it?” Lin Zifeng looked at her incredulously, thinking she had been only joking.

”Do I sound like I’m joking?” Yan Qingcheng’s eyes sparkled mischievously, giving him a stern look.

But when Qingcheng saw that his eyes were fixed firmly on her chest, she felt even more infuriated. She was his teacher after all, didn’t he have even a little respect as a student?

”What are you looking at?” Qingcheng asked almost reflexively.

”No, nothing,” Lin Zifeng replied nonchalantly.

”Hand it over.”

”What?”

”What did you say?”

”Teacher, I really don’t understand what you are talking about?” Lin Zifeng scratched his head and decided to play dumb.

”Don’t pretend to be clueless with me, where are the school rules that I asked you to copy? Hand them over and let me see them.”

”I haven’t finished writing them.”

”Do you remember what I told you last time?”

”What?”

”If you haven’t copied them a hundred times, you’re not allowed in the classroom!” Qingcheng tried to muster all her teacherly authority, but it was to no avail as Lin Zifeng looked her up and down and said nonchalantly, ”Teacher, just kidding, right? You actually want me to copy it? That could kill someone; can you endure it if I copy it a hundred times?”

Damn! You really are ruthless.

Copy a hundred times?

What, what a joke.

”No way! If you haven’t finished copying them, you are not allowed in the classroom.” Qingcheng pouted her lips, her fine and glossy lips and her full and prominent chest making her quite an attractive woman.

”But if I don’t go to class, what about the lessons I miss? What if I fail?”

”I can tutor you.”

”I have no money.”

”Who said I was going to charge you? As long as you study hard, that’s what matters most.” Upon hearing this, Qingcheng’s brows furrowed, and she glanced at him with some disdain, thinking: What does he take me, Qingcheng, for? Do I have to charge to tutor a student? Do I look like I’m short of money? Hmph! You don’t want me to tutor you? Well, I will just tutor you anyway, until I improve your scores, and when you graduate. Boy, you will regret not listening to me from the start and cry thanking me, yes, that would be so satisfying.

”Oh! Sorry, counselor, it was a misunderstanding on my part that made you ’cheaply’ smile.”

Speaking of which, Lin Zifeng squeezed out a smile again and said, ”Then I’ll go back and copy it a hundred times for you. Whenever I finish, I’ll give it to you, teacher, ’cheap’ again!”

”Go on, just don’t fail tomorrow.”

It wasn’t until Lin Zifeng had quickly left the corridor that Qingcheng felt a surge of joy inside; it seemed this guy wasn’t entirely hopeless after all.

But thinking back on what he had just said, why was there a slimy feeling to it?

What made me ’cheaply’ smile?

”You jerk!” Qingcheng angrily stamped her foot.

...

In the afternoon, Qingcheng was absent at the Archaeology Department due to a meeting, while Lin Zifeng spent his time quietly searching for what he needed in the library, flipping through materials but unable to find what he wanted, which left him quite frustrated.

In the Archaeology Department, Shao Huo looked out at the weather and touched his swollen face, looking at the bottle of Coca-Cola on the table. He couldn’t bring himself to drink it.

The price of this bottle of Coca-Cola was about three and a half Yuan, which was enough to cover Shao Huo’s daily expenses. To save money, he had bought a rice cooker, some rice, and his daily expenses were just a few Yuan. In the scorching heat, to save money, he would even frequently run to the public water faucet to drink.

Now this bottle of Coca-Cola was right before his eyes, bought by Lin Zifeng, but he dared not drink it.

Drinking it was like spending a day’s living expenses!

Stories of university students saving money are common in newspapers, using all sorts of methods.
