Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 522: Chapter 516: Turns Out I’ve Become a Public Idol_2

”Linlin, there are some things I’d like to discuss privately with your brother Lin, do you think you could——”

”Sure, Sister Su Ni, you two chat, I’ll head home now.” Li Lin was a very smart girl, not one to make a fuss, and quickly got up to wave goodbye to Lin Zifeng.

”Lin’er, let me walk you out.” Lin Zifeng felt awkward, being stuck between two women was definitely not a pleasant experience.

”No need, Big Brother Lin, my house is only a few hundred meters away, I’m not some three-year-old kid. You go ahead and have your important talk with Sister Su Ni.”

”Sister Su Ni, I’ll be going now.” Li Lin waved gently.

”Okay, take care on your way home.” Su Ni watched her leave.

”So, what’s the matter that you need to talk about alone and so secretly?” Lin Zifeng shrugged his shoulders, a gesture of resignation.

”Oh, am I interrupting your little date here, making you unhappy?” Su Ni’s charming, narrow phoenix eyes seemed to be smiling but not quite as she looked at someone teasingly.

”I say, Officer Su, could you not always be so secretive, huh? I’m not some international fugitive, can we not play these detective games, please?”

”Who’s playing detective games with you? Don’t be shameless, okay? I just can’t stand to see someone inviting an innocent and kind-hearted girl to such a remote place for a date.” Su Ni’s cheeks flushed, she was on the verge of blowing up on the spot.

”Uh, alright, you win. So, what’s the matter you wanted to discuss today?”

Humph! See how formidable I, Su Ni, am?

Su Ni stood tall, her chest heaving as if about to burst from fury, and said seriously, ”I already know who’s behind Linlin’s abduction, but our superiors in the police won’t let us handle the case.”

Great! So all this running around you’ve been doing, and this is the result you bring me?

”Oh?!” Lin Zifeng’s eyebrows rose sharply, his face suddenly turned cold: ”What you’re saying is, my Lin’er has to suffer for nothing?”

”Yes,” Su Ni nodded and said: ”Don’t worry, people like that will get their comeuppance soon enough,” she spoke righteously, not realizing Lin Zifeng’s face had already taken on an unnatural hue.

”Hah, laughable, just with that one sentence you expect Lin’er to suck it up? Officer Su, it seems like the police only dare to bully the weak and fear the strong,” Lin Zifeng said mockingly.

”Lin Zifeng!” Su Ni glared at him and said: ”It’s not that I don’t want to help Lin’er, it’s just that I’m utterly powerless. The higher-ups are adamant that we don’t get involved in this case, what can I do? Do you want me to go against their orders and catch the perpetrator for you? Even if we manage to catch them, what good would it do? Didn’t we make an arrest just a few days ago? But with the backing they have, they’re not something our small police force can contend with. They’d be released just the same.”

”So what, Officer Su is saying my Lin’er should just endure it silently and live in fear? Are you aware that Uncle Li has been targeted at the market recently? Are we just supposed to bear with this indefinitely?” Lin Zifeng was furious.

So, Su Ni wasn’t here to bring me good news after all, but to persuade me to have Linlin endure it, and then to say that the bad guys will get theirs eventually, which is simply laughable.

”But, but—,” Su Ni was so flustered that her pretty face turned red, and for a moment she couldn’t speak.

Given her fiery temper, it was already remarkable she hadn’t exploded in anger.

But the reality proved the police were ineffective.

”But, but—they will eventually be brought to justice by the law, one day I, Su Ni, will personally apprehend them and bring them to trial, you can count on that. I dare to promise you this, and I will surely give you a satisfactory outcome,” she insisted tenaciously.

Clearly, Lin Zifeng’s words had stirred the competitive spirit in Su Ni.

Her face flushed, she began to give Lin Zifeng her guarantee.

”Haha.” Lin Zifeng shook his head with a wry smile and said: ”I’m sorry, Officer Su, I was just a bit hasty and my tone was not right. My apologies, Lin Zifeng offers you his regrets. But I hope this is the end of it. If anything, even the slightest harm, comes to Lin’er, I won’t let them off!”

”Lin Zifeng, this isn’t the time for rash actions, please think things over calmly,” Su Ni said with a red face.

”Hehe, don’t worry, Officer Su, I get your point, rest assured, Lin Zifeng isn’t going to do anything foolish.” He said this, but his mind had already planned out everything.

”It’s not that I don’t want to help you, it’s just not the right time. The forces behind them are beyond our imagination, and with the current capabilities of the Zhonghai City police, we simply can’t control it. But don’t worry, I’ve applied to my superiors for additional police to protect Lin’er 24 hours a day for the next few days, so she’ll be safe.”

”Thank you, Officer Su.” Lin Zifeng gave a slight smile, and deliberately glanced at Su Ni’s half-exposed V-neckline, causing her to blush and turn away in a hurry.

Only after Su Ni left did the smile on Lin Zifeng’s face slowly become more detached.

At that moment, the phone in his pocket began to ring.

”Brother Lin, the Shadow Group is all set, when do we move?” Black Hawk’s voice came over the line, filled with excitement and eagerness.

”Tonight, it’s time for the Shadow Group to unsheathe their weapons for a test. Tonight we’ll take Azure Dragon Sect as our whetstone.”

”Got it. I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time.” Black Hawk was excited.

”Good, make sure everything’s arranged. This is the Shadow Group’s first mission since it was established, and I don’t want any slip-ups,” Lin Zifeng said with a cold voice.
