Chapter 508: Chapter 503: Ptooey, Ptooey, Ptooey (Fifth Update)

Looking at the man who seemed even more intimate with him than his own daughter, Nangong Bing’s expression turned somewhat unnatural, especially upon hearing that call of ”Dad”. It almost gave Nangong Bing the chills.

”Dad, it’s not easy for me to come back today, no matter what, I must treat you to a welcome dinner tonight. Was the flight over here very tiring?” Lin Zifeng cozied up enthusiastically, making Nangong Shui’s old face turn red, and he cursed inwardly, Damn, all this affection, he’s not actually taken down my Bingbing, has he?

”Uh, you two? Have you guys... you know...” Nangong Shui stared wide-eyed and gestured toward the two, clearly still a bit afraid.

”Dad, what are you thinking about...”

”Dad, rest assured, everything has been done according to your instructions. Bingbing and I are getting along great,” Lin Zifeng said with a smile, hugging Nangong Bing’s delicate body close.

Nangong Shui, the old fox, nearly turned blue with anger. He thought that bringing this guy back to the country was just to protect his daughter, but this guy had actually taken her.

The old and cunning Nangong Shui suddenly felt the world spinning around him.

Held in an embrace, Nangong Bing gritted her teeth with anger but, because of her father’s presence, she did not dare to refuse and could only awkwardly let this scoundrel’s salty pig’s hand grease up her waist.

”Uh...” Nangong Shui swallowed hard, glaring death stares at that Demon Claw wandering over his daughter’s waist, but he had no temper to speak out. After all, it was he who had found Lin Zifeng to court Nangong Bing, although it was just an excuse, but now the man took it seriously.

However, Nangong Shui’s gaze soon started to become somewhat distant, as if concealing some secret trouble.

After they left the airport, Nangong Shui patted Lin Zifeng’s shoulder from inside the car and laughed, ”How is your relationship with my daughter coming along now?”

”Hehe, just as you wished, it’s going well,” Lin Zifeng chuckled.

”Hehe.”

Nangong Shui nodded but didn’t say much more, his expression becoming more and more serious.

”What’s the matter? Don’t tell me, Nangong old man, that you’re feeling uncomfortable because I’m good with your daughter,” Lin Zifeng provoked.

”No,” Nangong Shui shook his head and sighed, ”I’m leaving my daughter in your hands from now on, you better not let her suffer, otherwise, even as a ghost, I won’t let you off.”

”Uh, isn’t that a bit too serious?” Lin Zifeng’s face showed surprise, unable to grasp the real meaning behind Nangong Shui’s words.

Nangong Shui pondered for a while and didn’t say much, simply closing his eyes for the rest of the journey, only responding briefly even when his own daughter asked him a question.

This made Lin Zifeng in the car feel a bit strange; this wasn’t Nangong Shui’s style at all!

How could this old fox genuinely hand over Nangong Bing to him, and more importantly, the things he just said made Lin Zifeng feel weird. Could it be that Nangong Shui has some incurable disease and could kick the bucket at any moment?

It wasn’t until they got the old man to the villa that he still seemed a bit dispirited. With Lin Zifeng’s keen perception, there definitely was something wrong with Nangong Shui.

But the key was that old rascal’s ability to play the victim was indeed unmatched by Lin Zifeng. Take, for instance, when Lin Zifeng firstly returned to the country, the old guy used every trick in the book, feigning pitifulness to lure Lin Zifeng over here.

After the deception, to prevent Lin Zifeng from sneaking away, the old man staged a series of self-harming schemes, ending up selling off all the vehicles in the garage and even firing all the Filipino maids in the villa.

What exactly he’s selling in his gourd, probably only he himself knows.

During dinner that night, Nangong Shui was noticeably less talkative than before, and the few people at the table ate with heavy hearts.

Only Lin Zifeng was feasting merrily.

After dinner, Nangong Shui took Nangong Bing to observe Tianyu Group.

He talked a lot about corporate management. With decades of experience in the business arena, he indeed broadened Nangong Bing’s horizons and better understood how to apply every trick in the book of business.

As for a certain Lin, he acted as if nothing was amiss. Whenever Nangong Shui mentioned that guy, a weird smile would surface on Nangong Bing’s face.

Unable to bear their father-daughter chitchat, Lin Zifeng, utterly bored, meandered through Tianyu Group with a cigarette in his mouth.

”Bingbing, you haven’t really gotten involved with that guy, have you?” Seeing Lin Zifeng walk away, Nangong Shui hurriedly asked the question that was weighing on his mind.

”Dad, what are you thinking?” Nangong Bing complained softly. ”I have nothing to do with him. If it wasn’t for our parents setting up this arranged marriage, I wouldn’t be under this threat now.”

”Oh? He threatened you?” The moment Nangong Shui heard the word ”threat,” his thick eyebrows shot up.

”No, not at all, Dad. Can’t you just stop overthinking? Am I that kind of person? Right now, he and I are just in a typical boss-subordinate relationship, not what you imagine. Did he tell you some nonsense just now?” Nangong Bing frowned, mentally cursing Lin Zifeng more than a dozen times.

”No, not at all.”

”Then why do you keep asking about this? I really am just in a normal boss-subordinate relationship with him, not like what you’re imagining.” Nangong Bing, her cheeks flushed, grew somewhat anxious, and the more Nangong Shui remained silent, the more she felt that something was wrong.

Nangong Shui’s sudden return to the country had indeed surprised Nangong Bing a little, and now, as the old man sat in silence, she couldn’t help but feel this was out of character for him.

”Dad, are you okay?” Nangong Bing shook his arm.

”I’m fine,” Nangong Shui said, his thick brows like a giant sword slightly arching.

”What’s wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?”

”No, it’s just that being old, I occasionally feel a bit melancholic,” Nangong Shui said with a smile. ”Bingbing, you’re not getting any younger. You have to take charge of your own life. You might not find another opportunity after this one, and if I leave you one day, what you’ll face won’t just be real-life problems, but also issues regarding your own marriage. I think this young man is not too bad; why not get married sooner rather than later? Who knows, I might even live to see my grandchildren.”

”Dad! Why do you always talk nonsense? Spit spit spit, don’t say such unlucky things. You’re in good health; don’t talk like that anymore.”

”But one day, Dad will leave you, so seeing my daughter find someone good to entrust her to is my greatest wish at this moment,” said Nangong Shui as a father.

Nangong Bing felt her eyelids beginning to moisten.

The thought of Nangong Shui, once a tycoon who dominated Zhonghai City’s business world, now in his twilight years expressing such sorrowful lament, twisted Nangong Bing’s heart with pain.

”I’m not talking to you anymore.”

Watching his daughter’s retreating back as she turned and walked away, Nangong Shui’s lips curled into a wry smile.
