Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

The butler’s face darkened when he heard this. ”Where is she?” he demanded. ”Where did she run off to?”

”We don’t know.”

The bodyguards didn’t know either.

”Well, what are you waiting for? Go find her!” the butler snapped.

After hearing him, the bodyguards exchanged glances. They clearly didn’t realize that Anne Sutton was someone special to Nathan Fawcett.

The butler said furiously, ”When Mr. Fawcett asks about this later, you’ll all be in for it!”

That snapped everyone back to their senses, and they scattered to search for her.

Anne Sutton hadn’t gone far. After leaving Nathan Fawcett’s hospital room, she had received a call from her assistant, Young. He told her there was an emergency case at the hospital and the other doctors weren’t available. The doctor on duty couldn’t handle it, so he asked if she could come over. She went straight there.

...

Once she had handled everything and the pregnant patient was out of danger, she finally came out.

The patient’s family members kept thanking her profusely.

Seeing the gratitude in their eyes, Anne Sutton realized her own problems were trivial in comparison.

She loved her job. It always made her feel like a part of society, someone who could make a contribution.

Watching them, so tense over a matter of life and death, made her see that the petty squabbles in her own life were nothing more than insignificant specks of dust.

”Dr. Sutton, thank you. We’re truly so grateful for you today.”

...

Anne Sutton finally managed to get away and went to the break room, where she discovered her phone had been ringing nonstop.

She took it out and saw a message from Nathan Fawcett. It said, ”Where are you?”

This was the first message Nathan Fawcett had sent her since she’d added him on WeChat.

Seeing his message, Anne Sutton instinctively thought of Chairman Fawcett’s attitude, his harsh words, and the things he had knocked over.

’Chairman Fawcett’s attitude toward her had been decent before. He had even supported her being with Nathan Fawcett, but now... She was starting to hesitate. If being with Nathan meant offending his father, was it really worth continuing?’

’She had been on her way back to make food for Nathan, but she never delivered it. He must be throwing a fit right now.’

At that thought, she timidly replied, ”I was busy. I just saw my phone.”

The moment she sent the message, her phone rang.

The sudden ringtone made her jump.

Still, Anne Sutton answered.

”Hello.”

She could already imagine the fury from Nathan Fawcett that was about to greet her.

On the phone, Nathan Fawcett’s voice was just as stern as she’d expected. ”Where are you? Where are you right now?”

Anne Sutton said, ”In the OB/GYN department. I just finished a surgery.”

”Stay right where you are. Don’t move.”

”...”

Anne Sutton was stunned for a moment when she heard him...

’Don’t move?’

She looked at her phone, saw that he had already hung up, and changed out of her clothes first.

She was just walking out of the locker room with her things.

The moment she stepped out, she saw Nathan Fawcett. He was still a patient, dressed in a hospital gown. His face was pale, and his cold expression was somewhat intimidating.

A group of bodyguards trailed behind him.

The doctors, nurses, and patients in the hallway were all trembling in fear.

Anne Sutton was trembling, too.

’Why do I get the feeling he’s about to kill someone?’

’Nathan Fawcett’s face was objectively handsome, but when he got angry, he looked absolutely terrifying.’

The butler walked over to Anne Sutton. ”Ms. Sutton, where did you go? We’ve been looking all over for you for the longest time.”

Her phone had gone unanswered and, with no word from her, they had even gone to the Sutton Family residence in their search. When she couldn’t be found there either, the butler had been terrified.

’He had wondered if Anne Sutton, unable to bear the blow and humiliation from Chairman Fawcett, had done something rash.’

Nathan Fawcett had originally been waiting for her in his room. When he found out she was gone, he started to get anxious and even took the initiative to send her a message—a WeChat message he thought he would never send in his entire life.

...

Seeing Nathan Fawcett, Anne Sutton said, ”Um, so... I made you food, but... your dad wouldn’t let me see you, so I left. It’s not that I don’t care if you live or die.”

Nathan Fawcett had gotten angry before just because she didn’t cook for him. Right now, she was genuinely afraid he would blow up at the slightest provocation and blame her for everything, so she had to explain herself first.

Nathan Fawcett looked at her, his eyes darkening. He had thought something had really happened to her, and despite being hungry, he had completely forgotten about the food.

Hearing Anne Sutton mention it now, he finally let out a sigh of relief.

The moment that taut string of tension inside him slackened, he fainted on the spot.

The bodyguards beside him caught him, and the butler jumped in fright.

’He wasn’t supposed to get out of bed in his condition... but he still ran out to find her. It’s a wonder he didn’t collapse sooner.’

Anne Sutton was startled as well.

The butler glanced at her and said, ”Ms. Sutton, please go with Mr. Nathan for now. He already knows about what happened with the Chairman.”

Anne Sutton nodded. ”Okay.”

’He was in this state, yet he still ran out to find me. Could it be... because of what happened with his father?’

When a man disregards his own life for you, dragging his sick body out of bed, it was hard for Anne Sutton not to be a little moved.

But she quickly snuffed out that flicker of emotion.

’Who was Nathan Fawcett, after all!’

’She had slept with him for so long, yet he had never once looked at her with approval.’

’The only reason he came looking for me like this was probably because he was worried he wouldn’t get to eat!’

...

News of Nathan Fawcett’s collapse quickly reached the Fawcett family.

Chairman Fawcett had already gone to rest, but he rushed back. Before he even entered the room, he started asking, ”Nathan? How is my son?”

Just then, a doctor came out, saw Chairman Fawcett, and said, ”Chairman.”

”How is my son?” Chairman Fawcett asked worriedly.

The doctor said, ”Mr. Fawcett is fine. He needs to rest quietly right now. Don’t let him leave his room again.”

”Leave his room? Who let him leave his room?” Hearing this, Chairman Fawcett’s eyes widened. His gaze fell on Anne Sutton. Seeing that she was back after he had already driven her away, he demanded, ”Was it you? Are you trying to kill my son?”

With that, Chairman Fawcett picked up his phone and immediately made a call.

Before Anne Sutton could even speak, she heard Chairman Fawcett say harshly into the phone, ”Sean Sutton, you get over here and get your daughter under control!”

”...”

The butler, standing to the side, waited until the Chairman hung up before saying, ”Chairman, Mr. Fawcett was the one who went to find Ms. Sutton. If he wakes up and doesn’t see her, he’ll just go looking for her again!”

”What are you talking about?” Chairman Fawcett said. ”You’re saying Nathan will look for her? Wasn’t she the one who angered him so much he ended up in the hospital? Why would he go looking for her?”

He had originally assumed that since Nathan Fawcett was in the hospital because of Anne Sutton, and she had been driven away, he would surely want nothing more to do with her. If anything, he expected Nathan would find her even more irritating.

That was why he’d had Charles Prescott arrange for that girl from the Shields family to come take care of Nathan Fawcett.

But now, hearing what the butler said, Chairman Fawcett couldn’t understand it at all. Nathan Fawcett still wanted to find Anne Sutton?
