Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Nathan Fawcett walked to the side and sat down.

Anne Sutton silently followed behind Nathan Fawcett. Seeing Master Fawcett, she said, ”Hello, Chairman.”

Master Fawcett glanced at Anne Sutton. The moment his gaze fell upon her, Anne felt her skin crawl.

However, Master Fawcett’s reaction wasn’t as intense as she had expected, nor did he show any disdain at her appearing with Nathan Fawcett.

He said calmly, ”Charles told me all about you and Nathan. Since Nathan has taken a liking to you, I’ll have to ask you to put more effort into his affairs from now on.”

’Charles already told him?’

This took Anne Sutton by surprise.

She looked at Charles Prescott and saw that his gaze was no longer as cold as before. Instead, it was calm, as if they had never been involved.

Anne Sutton had chosen to be with Nathan Fawcett purely to slap Charles Prescott in the face.

She wanted to see the look of regret and humiliation on his face.

She wanted to let him know she wasn’t someone he could easily manipulate.

But now, he had tossed her to someone else—to his own uncle—so nonchalantly.

’He’d rather have me be his aunt?’

With him being so unbothered, it seemed like she was the clown.

’She was the one he had thrown away!’

She had been with Charles Prescott for years and knew exactly what kind of person he was.

To him, feelings were the most insignificant thing in his world.

He could like you, but he would never let you affect his life or his work.

At this moment, she seemed to realize once again just how insignificant her place in his heart was. The sheer triviality of her position even made her chest tighten with frustration.

Seeing that Master Fawcett was still staring at her, Anne Sutton replied, ”I will take good care of Nathan, and I’ll give the Fawcett Family a child soon.”

Master Fawcett said, ”That’s good.”

Charles Prescott, sitting to the side, heard Anne Sutton’s words—”I’ll give the Fawcett Family a child soon”—and his fingers instantly stiffened.

He found it hard to imagine how she could say such a thing so calmly in front of an elder.

He had many women, and every single one who left him begged him to take them back, acting as if they would die without him.

But she...

She was the only one who broke up with him one second and threw herself into another man’s arms the next.

And now...

She was sitting right next to Nathan Fawcett, and had even taken the initiative to link her arm with his. Charles Prescott felt the urge to strangle her, but he held back.

Because just then, Charles Prescott’s assistant, Henry Underwood, walked over, stood by his side, and whispered a few words to him.

Charles Prescott didn’t lower his voice. He said, ”Bring her in.”

Henry Underwood nodded and quickly walked out.

Master Fawcett asked, ”Charles, is something the matter? You’re handling so much of the company’s business these days. It must be hard on you.”

Charles Prescott’s lips curved into a slight smile. ”It’s my duty to share your burden, Grandfather. It’s not hard at all. Besides, this isn’t about work. It’s just a woman being unreasonable and coming to find me.”

The moment Charles Prescott finished speaking, the woman who had sought out Anne Sutton at the hospital to get an abortion appeared at the door.

As soon as Sylvia Warren saw Charles Prescott, she walked over. ”Honey.”

Her voice was cloyingly sweet. She practically jogged over, ignoring everyone else in the room, and ran straight to Charles Prescott’s side, hugging his arm. ”You promised you’d stay with me. Why did you leave me all alone again?”

Charles Prescott looked at Sylvia Warren, his voice laced with indulgence. ”Why are you being so disobedient? Didn’t I tell you? You’re pregnant, you need to think about the baby in your belly. You’re still acting like a child.”

Hearing this, Master Fawcett looked at the woman who had suddenly appeared.

It was a good thing Anne Sutton was Nathan Fawcett’s woman now. Otherwise, this woman’s appearance would have been enough of a slap in the face to make her cheeks swell!

The moment Sylvia Warren appeared, Anne Sutton thought, ’I really made the fucking best decision.’

After all, even if Charles Prescott brought this woman home now, it had nothing to do with her, his ex.

Master Fawcett looked at the woman and asked Charles Prescott, ”Is this your girlfriend?”

Charles Prescott replied, ”She’s pregnant.”

He didn’t acknowledge her status as his girlfriend.

If every woman he’d been involved with was considered his girlfriend, he would have far too many!

Master Fawcett said, ”Not bad. You’re going to be a father. You’re not young anymore, it’s true. You should start thinking about your own future.”

Charles Prescott smiled. ”Thank you for your concern, Grandfather. My affairs aren’t important. Uncle’s affairs are what’s important.”

Sylvia Warren sat to the side, glancing at everyone before her gaze finally landed on Anne Sutton.

She knew that Anne Sutton was Charles Prescott’s fiancée, but... didn’t they break up at the hospital yesterday?

So why was Anne Sutton here now?

She was, after all, the third party, while Anne Sutton was Charles Prescott’s official fiancée. So, seeing Anne, she felt a surge of insecurity.

She asked Anne Sutton, ”Ms. Sutton, you’re here too! I’m so sorry about what happened yesterday. You aren’t still mad at Mr. Prescott, are you? I knew you wouldn’t really break up with him.”

Her tone was polite, but it was a clear probe—or perhaps, a taunt.

It was nothing more than a jab at Anne Sutton for saying she’d broken up with Charles Prescott, only to show up here again.

From her perspective, she was desperate for Anne Sutton and Charles Prescott to have a complete falling out.

Anne Sutton looked at Sylvia Warren and smiled. ”Miss Warren, you’re overthinking things. Mr. Prescott and I have no relationship whatsoever now, so why would I be angry about yesterday?”

”No relationship whatsoever?” Sylvia Warren repeated Anne Sutton’s words, looking at her in confusion.

’If they have no relationship, why is Anne Sutton here?’

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett beside her and introduced him to Sylvia Warren. ”You’re new here, so you probably don’t know anyone! Let me introduce you. This is Mr. Prescott’s uncle, and also my husband now. Honey, this is Miss Warren, Mr. Prescott’s girlfriend. They’re going to have a baby soon. I was just thinking about the family hierarchy... if this child is born, wouldn’t it have to call us Grandpa and Grandma? How embarrassing would that be?”

Sylvia Warren felt her head buzz.

’What is going on?’

’How did Anne Sutton suddenly become Charles Prescott’s elder?’

Nathan Fawcett sat to the side, quietly watching Anne Sutton’s performance. She was clinging to his arm, but she was clearly using his status to attack Charles Prescott and the woman beside him.

’To her, I’m probably just a tool for face-slapping.’

’And she seems to be quite good at using it.’

Charles Prescott looked at Anne Sutton, knowing she was deliberately trying to get under his skin.

But he wasn’t about to let her petty little tricks get to him.
