Medical Sage

However, Lu Lao and the others’ impressive expressions, as well as the shock and surprise of Li Binglie and Song Jinhu, held no interest for Master Muf Longkun. Instead, he scanned the diseased skin of the Korean man, Yong Jun, and with a deep frown, looked toward Chen Fei and murmured, ”I have never seen psoriasis with a purple hue beneath the membranous layer. Even if it were a mutation, it shouldn’t develop in this direction, should it?”

”Purple!?”

At these words, everyone abruptly stiffened, their eyes all turning in unison to the skin lesions on the arm of the Korean, Yong Jun. Elder Du’s eyes particularly shone as he exclaimed, ”That’s right, it’s purple! Under normal circumstances, even if psoriasis worsens or deteriorates, it should only turn grayish-black. And even if there were mutations in this patient’s psoriasis, it shouldn’t develop in that direction. Truly, Master Muf’s insight is extraordinary, identifying the crux of the problem at a glance.”

”Extraordinary insight? Me?” Upon hearing this, Muf Longkun suddenly laughed. He looked toward Chen Fei and said, ”If this counts as extraordinary insight, then what should Doctor Chen be considered!?”

Immediately, everyone’s expression froze. Their gazes toward Chen Fei were filled with respect and incredulity.

Indeed, even a figure like Master Muf Longkun appeared to have only just discerned the problem, but he was unable to pinpoint its origin, whereas Chen Fei… seemed to have understood everything from the start! Who is superior and who is inferior, do we even need to ask?

But... but that’s too unbelievable, isn’t it? How old is that kid? It couldn’t be possible that his medical skills surpass those of a venerable monster like Master Muf, could it? Is that even possible?

While they all harbored such doubts, what happened next provided a thorough answer.

Master Muf Longkun actually turned to Chen Fei and asked, ”Doctor Chen, I am still somewhat unclear about this patient’s condition. Could you explain it to me?”

Upon hearing this, the five Sino-Korean medical experts at the scene nearly bit their own tongues off. For the great Master Muf Longkun to personally use the word ’explain’ when addressing Chen Fei was deeply significant! It was akin to a figure they perceived as lofty as the Great Emperors of the heavenly realms condescending to ask others for advice. The shock of it was almost beyond their ability to describe in words.

”’Explain’ is too strong a word. I’ll just talk casually, and you can tell me if I’m right or not,” Chen Fei responded modestly, though he was also slightly startled.

Immediately after, he grasped Yong Jun’s arm, appropriately manipulated the skin around the lesion, and began, ”If this were truly psoriasis, or a peculiar lesion derived from a mutation of the disease, doing this should theoretically make the affected area look slightly less congested and the color somewhat lighter. But now, take a look.”

”The color deepened!?”

The crowd looked at the skin around the lesion held by Chen Fei’s hand, only to discover that the color in the center had indeed deepened! Specifically, the purple beneath the membranous layer appeared even more conspicuous.

”That’s right, it’s darker. And what does this mean? It means this isn’t an issue of blood-heat, but rather a problem with the skin’s superficial layer. That’s why I asked what he used to do for a living,” Chen Fei explained methodically, but he suddenly stopped at the end.

Seeing this, everyone’s expression momentarily froze. Then, the impatient Lu Lao was the first to break the silence, asking, ”So what did he do for work before!?”

But Chen Fei simply shook his head, squinting his eyes without saying a word. At this moment, however, Muf Longkun suddenly looked up and said, ”I understand now. So that’s how it is.”

He paused slightly, then looked deeply at Chen Fei and sighed with admiration. ”Truly worthy of being the Little Divine Doctor to whom even Elder Xunn Lun admits inferiority. I didn’t believe it before, but now I finally do. I, Muf Longkun, am far from your equal.” Seeing is believing. Evidently, today he had been thoroughly shaken by Chen Fei’s observational skills and medical expertise.

As for why neither of them elaborated, it was because the present circumstances were not appropriate for such a discussion.

With this thought, Master Muf Longkun turned directly to Li Binglie and asked with a knitted brow, ”Are you a disciple of Che Zaihu?”

”Yes,” Li Binglie, still reeling from the overwhelming shock of Muf Longkun’s previous statement, nodded blankly.

Who is Elder Xunn Lun? In theory, Li Binglie had no qualification to know, but he had once heard a small clue from his mentor, Che Zaihu. Elder Xunn Lun was the current head of Huaxia’s most prestigious and mysterious medical organization, the Medical Sage Hall. Even his mentor, Che Zaihu, and Master Muf Longkun had to bow their heads and call themselves juniors in front of such a paragon of the Traditional Medicine Community of Huaxia!

He... he actually admitted he was inferior to that young punk!? Am I going f*cking crazy, or am I dreaming!? H-How... how the f*ck is that possible!?

The astonishment and surprise on the faces of Lu Lao, Elder Du, and the others were particularly striking. Compared to Li Binglie, they were obviously much more aware of what it meant for Elder Xunn Lun, an unreachable Mount Tai Beidou and a saintly figure of the Traditional Medicine Community of Huaxia, to acknowledge inferiority to someone!

But now...

”You’ve all made enough of a fuss for today. Concede defeat,” Master Muf declared at that moment.

In the eyes of a traditional Chinese medical titan like him, a so-called Sino-Korean medical skills exchange was akin to child’s play, unworthy of his attention. If he hadn’t known Chen Fei was coming, he wouldn’t have even bothered to show up today.

But now that the farce was over, it was time to admit defeat.

”Concede defeat? Alright… we concede.” Li Binglie was stunned for a long moment, but in the end, he shook his head powerlessly and conceded with a disheartened expression. Though their Korean Medicine Team still had one spot left, what was the use? With a monster like Chen Fei present, ten spots, or even a hundred, would still lead to nothing but embarrassment and a sound trouncing.

At this moment, he finally began to realize that the sayings about the vastness of Huaxia and the profundity of its traditional medicine were no joke. Their Republic of Korea was still too far behind.

”WOW!”

”Did you hear that? What did that damn Korean say!?”

”Of course I heard him! He said they concede defeat!!!!!!!!”

”F*CK F*CK F*CK F*CK... Why do I suddenly feel like I’m tearing up?”

”Holy sh*t, talk about a comeback from the brink! Absolutely divine!”

...

The barrage of comments in the live broadcast rooms exploded in a frenzy. The text messages seemed like living, breathing people, unable to contain their ecstatic emotions as they roared with joy.

The Huaxia host on the commentary desk couldn’t hide his thrilled expression either, shouting, ”The Korean Medicine Team has chosen to concede defeat! I now announce that in this Sino-Korean Medical Skills Contest, our Traditional Medicine Team of Huaxia is victorious!!!”

”We won! We won!” Down below, the traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and patriots who had gathered from all over the country roared in unison, their boiling excitement completely irrepressible.

It was no wonder they were so emotionally overwhelmed. Prior to this, they had all mentally braced themselves for three consecutive losses.

Even though many had said it didn’t matter, if they had really lost, their hearts would have been incredibly heavy. They were all people of Huaxia, and traditional Chinese medicine was their thousand-year-old treasure. To lose to the South Koreans and lose face in front of the world’s media—how could they truly remain indifferent?

People, after all, are made of flesh and blood, with a sense of honor and shame, aren’t they?

So their earlier curses and vehement tirades were rooted in disappointment and anger at their side for not putting up a fight. In truth, their hearts had been tied in knots.

And now, they had fought back from the brink! They had actually, fantastically won! Who wouldn’t be excited? Who wouldn’t feel as if a heavy stone had been lifted from their heart, leaving them feeling utterly exhilarated and vindicated!?

This was a euphoric comeback! Most importantly, they had won! They had defended the honor of traditional Chinese medicine!

Awesome!

Freaking awesome!

Perhaps only such explosive, slightly crude adjectives could express their current state of mind. It was true, truly freaking awesome!

Meanwhile, Chen Fei left a prescription behind and walked off the contest stage without hesitation. He ’understood’ this situation all too well. If he didn’t leave now, trouble was certain!

...

More than ten minutes later, on a tree-lined path leading off the Capital University campus, Master Muf Longkun bid farewell to Chen Fei. ”Doctor Chen, since that’s the case, I’ll take my leave for today. We can talk more if we have the chance in the future. I greatly admire your medical skills.”

”You’re too kind, Elder Muf. I will definitely visit you when I have the chance,” Chen Fei said with a modest smile.

”Farewell.”

With that, Master Muf Longkun turned and left.

As for Li Dongshen and Zhou Zhengping, they followed behind him with complex expressions on their faces as they departed. Perhaps today’s events had truly been an eye-opening lesson for the master and his disciples.

”Doctor Chen...” After watching Master Muf Longkun and the others disappear at the end of the path, Elder Du could no longer restrain his curiosity and began to ask.

However, he was cut off by Chen Fei’s smiling interruption. He leaned in close to Elder Du’s ear and whispered a few sentences, ”It’s like this...”

”Nuclear...!?” Upon hearing what Chen Fei whispered, Elder Du flinched instinctively, his body going rigid. Now he understood why Chen Fei and Master Muf had been so secretive earlier, unwilling to reveal the truth publicly. So that was why. Indeed, if it involved that kind of project, that kind of research, it was not something that could be casually discussed in public. Even he himself shouldn’t have asked.

With that thought, he pushed the matter from his mind. He then bowed deeply to Chen Fei and said sincerely, ”Mr. Chen, I truly thank you for this matter. If you hadn’t been willing to personally intervene, we would have lost so much face.”

”Elder Du, please don’t say that. I, Chen Fei, am also a member of the Traditional Medicine Community of Huaxia. This was my duty; there’s nothing to thank me for…” Chen Fei replied, feeling a bit helpless, his expression turning earnest.

However, before he could finish his sentence, he abruptly stopped. A tall, imposing man in black with a cold demeanor was walking straight toward him.
