”You, you, you really know everything?! How is that possible…” Sunx Long’s face was filled with panic.

Obviously, he had never expected that someone else would know everything about such a well-kept secret.

”Nothing is impossible. ’A clear conscience fears no knock at midnight,’ am I right, Young Master Sunx?” Chen Fei said emotionlessly, a faint, cold light glinting in his eyes. The piercing, grim tone of his voice made Sunx Long shiver violently.

”I-I’m sorry, Brother Fei. I was out of my mind before. I was wrong. I sincerely apologize to you now.” As the saying goes, a wise man submits to the circumstances. Although Sunx Long was proud of his blood connection to the Old Sunx Family, he couldn’t help but panic and bow his head the moment Chen Fei actually came for him and met his icy gaze.

”Apologize?”

Chen Fei’s eyes, dark and clear like obsidian, suddenly narrowed, shooting out two sharp, icy beams. ”Young Master Sunx, you can’t possibly think a simple apology will make me forget that you hired assassins to kill me, can you?”

”Then what do you want? Are you really going to kill me? Chen, I think you know perfectly well who I, Sunx Long, am. Do you understand what that means?” Seeing that Chen Fei wouldn’t accept his apology, Sunx Long’s expression darkened, and he instantly dropped the submissive act.

Strictly speaking, after my mother married out into my father’s Zhuo Family, I should be considered a member of the Zhuo Family, not the Sunx Family! But no matter what, my last name is now Sunx! What are you, a little bastard, compared to that?

”Oh? And what does it imply?” Chen Fei asked slowly, a faint coldness in his eyes.

”What, trying to play dumb? Fine, then allow me to enlighten you!”

At these words, Sunx Long’s face stiffened, and he shouted coldly, ”I am Sunx Long! My father is a deputy minister in a certain department! My mother is the chairwoman of a state-owned enterprise! And my maternal grandfather, he’s…” The more Young Master Sunx Long spoke, the more arrogant his expression became, and the pride in his eyes grew ever more pronounced.

Even the seductive woman cowering in the corner showed a glimmer of hope in her trembling, beautiful eyes upon hearing this. Although she was Sunx Long’s father’s woman, she was, in reality, just a mistress—someone who couldn’t be shown in polite company. Therefore, she was deeply shaken when Sunx Long so casually listed his family’s connections.

After all, what Sunx Long had just mentioned was only the status of the Zhuo Family, and it was already this terrifying. If his mother’s family—the Sunx Family—was factored in, it would be simply unimaginable…

Even for a mistress like her, who had seen a fair bit of the world, she was terrified by such a background and influence.

For a descendant from such a terrifying lineage, a mistake might earn them a light punishment or a stern warning, maybe even some suppression. But to want his life? That was a sheer fantasy. Who would dare? It would be a direct challenge to the authority of the Old Sunx Family.

”You’re saying all this just to show me how powerful and intimidating your background is, so I won’t dare touch you?” Seeing this, Chen Fei laughed.

He paused for a moment, the corner of his mouth twisting into a mocking smile. ”But do you have any idea who I am, or what my background is?”

”What’s your background?”

For some reason, hearing this made both Sunx Long and the seductive woman in the corner tremble. Sunx Long immediately followed up, blustering to hide his fear, ”What do I care about your identity or your background? No matter how powerful you are, can you be more powerful than someone with the bloodline of the Old Sunx Family? Stop putting on an act.”

”Is that so? Then why don’t you take a look at this?” Chen Fei grinned and casually pulled a pitch-black booklet from his coat. There were no words on the cover, only a crude sketch of a leopard baring its fangs and claws.

”This is…”

The moment Sunx Long saw the booklet in Chen Fei’s hand—or more precisely, the crudely drawn, aggressive beast on its cover—his pupils contracted violently. His face paled, and two words echoed in his mind: Flying Leopard!

For a Government Official’s Son from Forty-Nine City like him, even if he wasn’t technically from the direct lineage of the Sunx Family and belonged to the Zhuo Family, he still had the necessary knowledge. He certainly recognized the emblem on the booklet as belonging to the Flying Leopard, the special privileges department of the Three Provinces of Lingnan! And what kind of department was the Flying Leopard? It was one of the Republic’s eight famous special privileges departments, affiliated with the Central Guard Bureau. Even as a second-tier department, it was still astonishing enough. He never expected Chen Fei to produce something like this. Could it be… he’s actually a member of the Flying Leopard?!

”So you’re one of the Flying Leopard’s men. I underestimated you. But so what?! Do you really think being a member of a second-tier department makes you qualified to be compared to me, Sunx Long? You’re daydreaming!” Sunx Long sneered, his face grim as he refused to concede.

”Interrupting people isn’t a good habit, so you should shut up for now.” Just then, Chen Fei’s calm, cold voice rang out again. Instantly, a glint of cold light flew into an acupoint on Sunx Long’s neck. The latter’s face turned ashen with horror as he started making choked, gagging sounds. His expression warped as he realized his tongue had gone numb and he couldn’t speak.

”You, you, what did you do to him?” The seductive woman cowering in the corner was scared out of her wits, trembling uncontrollably.

”Just keeping him quiet for a bit.”

Chen Fei smiled, sweeping his dark, obsidian eyes over Sunx Long’s terrified face before continuing with a grin, ”Alright, let’s continue.”

But as he spoke, he paused. After a moment of hesitation, he swallowed the words he was about to say. He suddenly remembered that his position in the Flying Leopard was, in fact, more of a sham—a titular role without a real place in the official hierarchy. Saying it out loud wouldn’t be very convincing!

Realizing this, he simply changed the subject. ”You should be familiar with the Crimson Fang of Italy, right? I made a special trip to Italy a while ago and casually wiped them out from the root.”

”What did you say?! The Crimson Fang… they were wiped out by you?” Hearing this, Sunx Long’s pupils shrank to pinpricks, and he screamed internally. He was instantly scared witless, his eyes filled with terror as he stared at Chen Fei as if he were a demon from hell.

Of course, he knew about the Crimson Fang of Italy. They were reputed to be the most powerful assassin organization in Italy! They had been mysteriously annihilated overnight not long ago. When he first heard the news, he had dismissed it as a coincidence, but now…

”MMPH! MMPH!” With a sudden burst of strength from God knows where, Sunx Long let out a series of hysterical, muffled cries and collapsed at Chen Fei’s feet, his eyes filled with pleading terror as if begging for mercy.

However, Chen Fei seemed to ignore him completely, continuing, ”Also, Old Master Xuu only had a day or two left to live when he came to me. I managed to extend his life by another year and a half. In other words, I saved Old Master Xuu’s life, and his family is willing to back me. So I really don’t understand…”

At this, Chen Fei’s gaze, now chillingly cold and mocking, fell upon Sunx Long’s terrified, pleading face. He scoffed, ”So I really have no idea what gives you the right to flaunt your paltry background in front of me.”

He was desperately mouthing the words, ”Spare me! Please, spare me!” He even started kowtowing, his head hitting the floor.

He now fully understood that the identity and background he was so proud of were truly nothing in front of a person like Chen Fei. And this monster was dead set on killing him.

”Too late. And by the way, your cousin Wuu Xiaojun is already waiting for you on the other side.” Chen Fei raised his hand.

”MMPH!”

Sunx Long’s expression froze for a second before twisting into a ferocious snarl. He whipped a black dagger from his clothes and lunged, thrusting it at Chen Fei’s chest with a SWISH that tore through the air.

Chen Fei seemed not to see it, or perhaps he simply didn’t care. He slapped out with the force of Mount Tai Overhead. The black dagger was sent flying. It spun several times in mid-air before WHIZZING down and embedding itself in the floorboards. The seductive woman, who was curled up nearby, screamed in terror.

BANG! CRACK!

At the same time, Chen Fei’s palm slammed brutally into Sunx Long’s temple. Instantly, that side of Sunx Long’s head seemed to explode. Red and white matter sprayed out like a bursting watermelon, only to be blocked by a barrier of spiritual light Chen Fei casually manifested in front of him. Even so, his hand was unavoidably splattered.

”Shut up! Unless you want to follow him.”

The seductive woman clamped her jaw shut, not daring to make another sound for fear she would suffer the same fate as Sunx Long. Her pretty face was deathly pale.

As if nothing had happened, Chen Fei turned, found the room’s bathroom, and calmly washed his hands twice with a towel, water, and soap. Then he ambled out.

”Don’t kill me, please don’t kill me! I’ll do anything for you. I’m beautiful, and I have a great figure. I can be with you, be your mistress, please just don’t kill me!” Seeing Chen Fei emerge from the bathroom, the seductive woman scrambled to his feet, a mess of snot and tears, oblivious to how her stunning body, capable of driving any man wild, was exposed to the air.

She didn’t want to die! She absolutely did not want to end up like Sunx Long!

BANG!

Just as Chen Fei frowned, about to speak, the muffled sound of a gunshot rang out abruptly.

The seductive woman, still frozen in her pleading posture, collapsed to the ground.
