Medical Sage

”Dude, are you regretting throwing away that little slip of paper now?” Seeing this, Liu Chudong couldn’t help but nudge Chen Fei with his elbow, a sly smile on his face.

”What nonsense are you talking about?” Chen Fei rolled his eyes and then said to Elder Du, ”Elder Du, where is your seat? Why don’t you sit here? Buddy, could you kindly swap seats with Elder Du?” Chen Fei politely asked the passenger sitting in front of him.

”Sure, sure, no problem. Man, you were just too cool earlier, really made us people of Huaxia proud! Those South Korean jerks just needed to be put in their place, thinking they’re all that.” The passenger immediately agreed without hesitation, his face animated as he spoke.

”Exactly. I may not have many good points, but I can’t stand seeing these foreigners strutting around and causing trouble on Huaxia’s soil. If I weren’t too lazy to bother with them, I would’ve slapped them right across the face to see if those jerks still dared to be so arrogant in Huaxia.” Chen Fei, ever the one to tailor his words to his audience, was also brimming with excitement.

”Well said! Well said!”

”Damn it! Next time something like this happens, I definitely won’t back down. I’ll be like this brother here and uphold the dignity of us people of Huaxia.” Suddenly, a chorus of approvals rang out, with some people even vowing to do so.

Seeing this, Chen Fei smiled slightly, took his seat, and began the introductions. ”Come, come, let me introduce someone. This is the former dean of the Traditional Medicine Affiliated Hospital of Northern Mountain City in Jiangnan Province, our number one traditional doctor of Jiangnan, Elder Du! Elder Du, this is a friend I just met on the plane, Liu Chudong from Capital City, who didn’t bring any shame upon us people of Huaxia.”

”Nice to meet you, Mr. Liu.”

”Elder Du, it’s an honor.”

The two greeted each other politely and warmly. Then Elder Du turned to Chen Fei with a wry smile. ”Doctor Chen, please stop calling me the number one traditional doctor in Jiangnan. Hearing that in front of you… my old face is burning with embarrassment.” Although Elder Du was a talented and proud man who had never publicly accepted the title, he had never publicly rejected it either.

But ever since he met Chen Fei, this medical prodigy with heaven-defying skills, all his talent and pride had been tossed out the window to Claw Tooth Nation. The number one traditional doctor of Jiangnan Province? Hearing this title in front of Chen Fei truly made his old face burn with shame.

”Elder Du, could it be that Chen Fei’s medical skills are really better than yours?” Seeing this, Liu Chudong couldn’t help but ask in amazement.

”It’s not just ’better’. The praise I gave earlier was from the bottom of my heart, without a shred of exaggeration. Doctor Chen’s medical skills are, at the very least, ten times superior to mine,” Elder Du said with a completely serious expression. His tone was solemn.

HISS!

At that, Liu Chudong and the other passengers sitting close enough to hear gasped. Their gazes toward Chen Fei were now filled with even more admiration and shock. They had all assumed Elder Du was just joking earlier, but now… Impressive! Truly impressive! For the esteemed number one traditional doctor of Jiangnan to personally say such words is an incredible honor!

It also proved that this young man’s medical skills were likely phenomenal, far beyond what an ordinary person could imagine.

”Um, excuse me, Doctor Du, Doctor Chen, would you mind taking a look at me? I’ve been feeling unwell lately, and I don’t know what’s wrong,” a braver passenger asked, looking both embarrassed and earnest. He clearly didn’t want to miss such a golden opportunity. After all, this was Elder Du, the top traditional doctor of Jiangnan Province, and Chen Fei, who Elder Du himself claimed was even better.

”Yes, yes, Elder Du, Doctor Chen, could you please take a look at us? My right arm has been aching recently.”

”Me too, me too! Elder Du, Doctor Chen, can you check on my mother? Her hearing has been getting worse lately.”

With one person taking the lead, the cabin quickly became abuzz with activity. Anyone with half a brain knew that they couldn’t let a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like this pass them by. One after another, they all asked for Chen Fei and Elder Du to take a look at them.

”Why don’t you take a look at everyone, Doctor Chen? What do you say?” With Chen Fei present, Elder Du had no desire to ”make a fool of himself,” and instead looked at Chen Fei with a grin.

”Elder Du, you sure know how to slack off.” Chen Fei laughed, unfazed. He waved his hand and smiled. ”Since everyone is interested, I’ll give it my humble shot. But I’ll say this first: my skills are still unrefined. If I say anything wrong, I hope you’ll all be forgiving.”

”No problem, no problem, Doctor Chen, we trust you!”

”Exactly, this is a free consultation. We won’t mind whether you’re right or wrong. Why don’t you look at me first?” a pale-faced woman chimed in, standing up immediately.

When the others saw the woman get the first turn, none of them were anxious or worried. Although Elder Du, the top traditional doctor of Jiangnan Province, had vouched for Chen Fei, he was still very young. It made them subconsciously lack full confidence in him. So... might as well wait and see how this plays out.

”Alright, then I’ll make my humble attempt,” Chen Fei said with a smile, not minding at all.

”Then I’ll come over,” the woman with a slightly abnormal complexion said as she started to get up from her seat to let him take her pulse.

”No need, no need. Just stand where you are,” Chen Fei surprised her by stopping her and shaking his head.

”Just stand here? Don’t you need to take my pulse?” The woman was stunned. Not just her, but everyone else present was baffled as well. From so far away? Without taking her pulse? How could he possibly diagnose her?

”Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes diagnosis through observation, listening, questioning, and palpation. I happen to have learned a bit of aura observation, so you can just stand there and let me take a look,” Chen Fei replied, leaving the woman and everyone else dumbfounded. They looked back at Chen Fei with expressions of both suspicion and disbelief.

What could they even say? Aura observation? What kind of nonsense was that? Was this a movie or a novel?

Although they now had their doubts about this mystical-sounding guy’s medical skills, they didn’t dare voice them, both because of what had happened earlier and because Elder Du was present. Instead, their full attention was fixed on Chen Fei, eager to see if he was the real deal or just a fraud.

Just then, Chen Fei spoke with a smile, ”Your menstrual cycle is irregular, and you suffer from painful cramps. Your digestive system is also weak. It seems you’ve had an operation and are suffering from after-effects, correct?”

His words stunned everyone. No one expected him to be so specific and on point with his diagnosis. But… irregular periods and cramps were one thing, but to see that she’d had surgery and was suffering from after-effects just by looking!?

Just as everyone was assuming Chen Fei was spouting nonsense, the woman’s face suddenly lit up with excitement and admiration. ”Doctor… Doctor Chen, you… you’re a miracle worker! You could see all that? I did have stomach surgery a few years ago, and I was unlucky enough to be left with some lingering problems… Doctor Chen, this condition of mine, can you…?” She looked at him with a nervous and hopeful expression.

”It’s a small problem. You seem to like spicy food, right? Try to eat less of it. Also, eat more whole grains like corn and black sesame. I’ll write you a prescription to take for half a year, and you should see a significant improvement,” Chen Fei said with a smile.

”Really!? That’s wonderful! Thank you, Doctor Chen! I’ll definitely listen to you from now on, less spicy food and more whole grains.” The woman was ecstatic.

”I’ll listen to you, Doctor Chen. Starting today, I’ll quit spicy food and eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains,” the woman said, nodding emphatically with complete conviction.

Seeing this, the crowd naturally grew excited. Another man, a hefty forty-something, quickly stood up. ”Doctor Chen, Doctor Chen, please take a look at me. I’ve always sweated a lot, ever since I was a kid. Way more than normal people, even those who weigh about the same as me. I don’t know if there’s something wrong. Can you take a look?”

”You’re lacking exercise, and you have a slight kidney issue, most likely from sitting in front of a computer for too long. I suggest you adjust your diet and rest schedule, and go swimming more often when you have time. Your condition doesn’t require medicine. If you stick with it for a year or so, it will heal on its own,” Chen Fei said, looking him over and stroking his chin.

”Doctor Chen, you’re a true miracle worker! How did you know I had a kidney issue? I’m just too busy, with endless things to do at the company. I spend at least ten hours a day sitting in the office, or I’m away on business trips. But I’ll definitely follow your advice. As for exercise, is just swimming enough?” the portly middle-aged man asked admiringly, amazed by Chen Fei’s accuracy.

He had seen many doctors, and some had indeed mentioned a kidney issue. However, they usually attributed it to other lifestyle choices, not to overwork and sitting too long. But now, Chen Fei had pinpointed his situation exactly. He’s incredible! No wonder even Elder Du admitted he was no match for him!

At this, even more people began to trust Chen Fei’s medical skills, each one eagerly hoping for a consultation. The commotion only subsided when the plane began to take off and the flight attendants asked everyone to be seated.

However, once the plane reached a safe cruising altitude, they once again surrounded Chen Fei, asking for a diagnosis. Even the flight attendants and stewards were no exception.

Luckily, it was only them and the other first-class passengers, so there weren’t too many people. Otherwise, our Chen Fei, Young Master Chen, would have been completely exhausted.

Chen Fei ended up giving every single one of them a free consultation. Although he didn’t find any major diseases, he was spot-on with every minor ailment, earning the profound respect of everyone present for the medical skills of this young man in his twenties. They finally understood that Elder Du’s earlier words might not have been a joke after all.

After all, have you ever seen a Divine Doctor who could diagnose someone so accurately with just a casual glance!?

Even Elder Du probably wasn’t this mysteriously skilled or this powerful.

He’s truly a Divine Doctor!
