Medical Sage

”Finally, the Capital City.” Seeing that his destination was nearly in sight, a faint glint and... a bone-deep chill flashed through Chen Fei’s eyes. He hadn’t come here to sightsee, but to make certain people pay.

”Well… ah, never mind.” Liu Chudong had been hesitant to speak from the start, and now interrupted by the flight attendant’s announcement over the speaker, he grew even more hesitant and decided not to press the issue.

In his heart, he still held great doubt about what Chen Fei had said. It couldn’t be helped. How could the casual words of a stranger he just met compare to the deep-rooted customs and behavioral codes of his Sect, established over so many years? The two simply weren’t comparable. Thus, he quickly dismissed Chen Fei’s words.

”Buddy, I’ll be staying at my family’s place in the Capital City for the next month or two. If you’re free, give me a call, and we can hang out,” he said, fastening his seatbelt with a smile.

”Sure. I’ll get in touch,” Chen Fei replied with a slight smile.

Just then, the plane they were on began its descent. About ten to twenty minutes later, Chen Fei and his companions walked out of the airport terminal.

Suddenly, several imposing men in black suits approached, walking up to Liu Chudong and bowing respectfully. ”Young Master, welcome back. The Master and all your uncles are waiting for you at home. They’ve arranged a welcome-home banquet for you tonight.”

”Didn’t I say there was no need? Ah, whatever.”

Hearing this, Liu Chudong shook his head helplessly. He waved toward Chen Fei and said, ”Elder Du, buddy, my family is here to pick me up, so I’ll be leaving first. Remember to call me when you have time. It’ll be boring going home alone.”

”Bye, bye…” Chen Fei knew exactly what he meant by ”boring.” However, he had far too much on his plate to even think about having fun.

”Young Master, who are they?” Seeing how friendly Liu Chudong was acting toward Chen Fei and the others, the leader of the men in black, who was well aware of the Liu Family’s standing and their young master’s identity, looked startled and asked instinctively.

”Uncle Jii, it’s not good to ask so many questions,” Liu Chudong said, his expression turning slightly serious. It wasn’t that he was angry, but rather he was afraid his family would overstep. If they assumed things and casually investigated Chen Fei because of his friendly attitude, it could cause trouble if discovered.

After all, putting himself in the other’s shoes, if someone were to suddenly investigate him for no reason, he would certainly be annoyed. Not to mention, this guy he’d just met on the plane seemed genuinely mysterious and extraordinary.

”Yes! My apologies, Young Master. I overspoke!” Hearing the tone in Liu Chudong’s voice, the man addressed as Uncle Jii immediately grew stern and his expression turned serious with a hint of shock. He had clearly understood the deeper meaning behind the warning.

Could it be that this young man is of the same caliber as our Young Master? The leader of the men in black stole a shocked glance at Chen Fei’s retreating back.

”Doctor Chen, the seventh Traditional Medicine Conference is tomorrow at Capital University. Are you interested in going to take a look?” As Chen Fei and Elder Du walked toward the airport exit, the latter couldn’t help but ask.

Clearly, Elder Du believed that having a Divine Doctor like Chen Fei represent the Traditional Medicine Community of Huaxia would be a great honor. If he demonstrated his miraculous medical skills in front of his international peers at the conference, it would reflect well on Huaxia’s traditional medicine and greatly enhance its reputation and influence worldwide. That was why he had thought to invite Chen Fei to this seventh Traditional Medicine Conference in the Capital City.

”A Traditional Medicine Conference?”

Hearing this, Chen Fei’s steps faltered slightly. His eyes, as dark and clear as polished gems, showed a strange light. ”Didn’t that South Korean guy say he knew the Vice President of the Traditional Medicine Association? If I actually go, won’t those people just kick me out? In their eyes, I’m afraid that South Korean fellow is far more important than I am.”

At these words, Elder Du’s expression immediately stiffened, and he said with some indignation, ”Although that Li Dongshen is indeed skilled in medicine, his character and conduct leave much to be desired. He’s infatuated with power and is arrogant and self-righteous…”

”Even you think that Li Dongshen’s medical skills are decent, Elder Du? It seems the man does have some real ability. But what’s his background? Is he just a Vice President of the Traditional Medicine Association?” Chen Fei stroked his chin.

”He… does have quite the background.”

Upon Chen Fei’s inquiry, Elder Du’s expression grew solemn. ”Strictly speaking, Li Dongshen and I grew up in the same era, but he had a much better foundation and starting point. By his twenties, he had already successfully become a disciple of the then National Medical Master, Muf Longkun. The name Muf Longkun might be unfamiliar to your generation, Doctor Chen, but I only need to mention three words for you to understand his importance.”

”Oh? And what three words are those?” Chen Fei’s gaze sharpened.

”Medical! Sage! Hall!”

Elder Du looked Chen Fei in the eyes and enunciated each word with gravity. ”Grandmaster Muf Longkun was the most recent National Medical Saint to be inducted into the Medical Sage Hall. Surely, Mr. Chen, you understand the significance of the Medical Sage Hall?”

The Medical Sage Hall, huh.

Chen Fei was somewhat surprised. He hadn’t expected a mere South Korean to have connections leading all the way to the Medical Sage Hall.

He knew that both Elder Xunn Lun and Elder Quan Qiusheng were members of the Medical Sage Hall, and even now, he couldn’t afford to underestimate them. If that Muf Longkun was truly like them, a member of the Hall, then his background was indeed significant.

Even so, he had long since stopped underestimating himself. With his current cultivation level and medical skills, so what if the other party was a member of the Medical Sage Hall? Would he be afraid?

Furthermore, this was just his disciple. There was even less reason to be afraid.

”Let’s see how things go tomorrow. To be honest with you, Elder Du, I came to the Capital City this time to handle some private matters. So, if I have time tomorrow, I’ll go to Jingdong University for a look. If not, then I’ll have to skip it,” he said with a slight shake of his head and a smile.

”Alright then. I’ll call you tomorrow before the conference begins.” Though somewhat disappointed, Elder Du understood. At Chen Fei’s level of medical expertise, he probably had little interest in a so-called Traditional Medicine Conference. Moreover, since he had private business to attend to in the Capital City, Elder Du could only let it go.

Afterward, Chen Fei parted ways with Elder Du and his group, getting into a taxi waiting at the airport by himself. He then took out his phone and dialed a number.

”Hello, Brother Xuu? It’s me, Chen Fei,” he said with a smile as the call connected quickly.

”Mr. Chen, hello! What a surprise to get a call from you. If you need anything, just say the word,” an enthusiastic voice came from the other end.

The call wasn’t to just anyone; it was to Old Master Xuu’s grandson, Xuu Ji.

”Brother Xuu, do you remember that matter I asked you to help me investigate last time?” Chen Fei saw no need to beat around the bush and got straight to the point. This was clearly the first thing he intended to handle on his trip to the Capital City.

”You mean… yes. It’s all been thoroughly investigated. I have all the files and information right here,” Xuu Ji replied, his tone on the other end suddenly turning serious as he spoke more slowly.

”Good. Send those files directly to me,” Chen Fei said immediately.

”Send them to you? Mr. Chen, are you planning to… Alright, I’ll send everything over right now.” Xuu Ji was instinctively taken aback for a moment before he caught himself and held his tongue. After fully understanding the ins and outs of the matter, he of course understood why the other party had to get to the bottom of this. That boy, Sunx Long of the Sunx Family, was really courting death! Daring to arrange an assassination of Mr. Chen!?

”Alright. Thanks a lot, Brother Xuu.”

Chen Fei nodded with a smile and hung up. A moment later, an email account and password arrived on his phone via text message. Without hesitation, he logged in and began reading.

So that’s how it is. Interesting… As time passed, Chen Fei’s eyes involuntarily narrowed.

He then dialed Xuu Ji’s number again and asked directly, ”Brother Xuu, where are Wuu Xiaojun and Sunx Long right now?” His tone was enough to send a shiver down one’s spine.

”The Central Guard Bureau installed trackers in their phones. I’ll text you a link to an app now. Once you open it, a real-time satellite map will appear with two dots. The green dot represents Wuu Xiaojun’s location, and the red dot represents Sunx Long’s. However, Mr. Chen… Wuu Xiaojun is one thing, but with Sunx Long, it’s best if you don’t take a life. After all, he is a member of the Sunx Family,” Xuu Ji couldn’t help but add after his explanation.

”Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing,” Chen Fei replied, the corner of his lip curling into a smirk. Don’t take a life?

He had never been one to actively stir up trouble. But if some short-sighted fool came looking for it, he wouldn’t back down. It was the same principle by which the Crimson Fang had met its end at his hands.

Some people simply had to be taught a lesson.

He hung up the phone. A moment later, a file for an app over a hundred megabytes in size was sent to him via text. Military satellite phones were certainly convenient.

He then opened the app on his screen, and a real-time satellite map appeared before his eyes. On it, a red dot and a green dot blinked in unison. Chen Fei’s gaze swept over them, and he smiled at the taxi driver. ”Driver, to the Golden Goblet Manor Community in Chaoyang District.”

”You got it!” the taxi driver replied in a thick Beijing accent, stomping on the gas as the car roared away.
