Medical Sage

He was certainly aware that tonight’s incident was far from a simple mass brawl. Even their reason for causing trouble near the hospital was part of a specific plan.

”Stop! You have some nerve causing trouble here!” Just then, police cars finally arrived. About ten officers, each armed with batons and handcuffs, charged out of the vehicles. A policeman who looked to be in his thirties or forties, wearing a Two Bars Two Stars insignia on his uniform, got out and immediately issued a commanding reprimand.

This man was none other than Zheng Buxing, the deputy captain of the Public Security Team of High Tech Startup Zone Public Security Bureau in Northern Mountain City.

As soon as he appeared, he marched straight toward Chen Fei. He glanced at Luo Chao pinned under Chen Fei’s foot, and a fierce look flashed in his eyes as he bellowed, ”How dare you! This is a mass brawl, endangering public safety! Men, seize him and take him back for questioning.”

Although the man’s words sounded righteous and just, Chen Fei detected something different in his tone and attitude. There were so many gangsters and bikers with knives at the scene, yet the officer ignored them and targeted him directly. Could it be...?

As he pondered, he retracted his foot. He hadn’t forgotten the teachings his master, mother, and school had instilled in him since childhood. Faced with the police, he obediently ceased his violent actions.

”Damn it, weren’t you acting so tough just now? Now you know fear. Just wait and see how I deal with you later...” The long-haired man, Luo Chao, immediately became arrogant again. He scrambled up from the ground, puffing out his chest as if he owned the world.

Hearing this, a cold glint flashed in Chen Fei’s eyes, and his fists clenched tight. Luo Chao instantly felt a chill run down his spine and swallowed the words that were on the tip of his tongue.

”What are you doing? Thinking of resisting? Men, take him back,” Zheng Buxing commanded coldly, stepping forward. He then subtly exchanged a look with Luo Chao, signaling him to keep his mouth shut for now; they would discuss everything back at the Public Security Bureau.

Luo Chao was the son of Luo Qiang, the director of the Public Security Bureau of High Tech Startup Zone in Northern Mountain City. Naturally, Zheng Buxing recognized him. They were old acquaintances and had dealt with each other many times before.

As for today’s incident, Zheng Buxing knew full well this was no ordinary public security dispatch. Their director, Luo Qiang, had personally given him the order. Who would believe there wasn’t something fishy going on?

”Officer, he’s the one who tried to molest us! He even tore our clothes! You must uphold justice for us and clear our names!” Suddenly, the two women who had been cowering behind Chen Fei spoke out, causing his expression to change drastically.

Damn it, they’re framing me?

Chen Fei immediately realized something was wrong. Someone was definitely targeting him.

”You two... very well.”

Chen Fei shot a cold glare at the two women. A violent rage surged from his chest like an erupting volcano, causing his eyes to redden slightly. In the dark of the night, his gaze made the two women who had falsely accused him tremble with cold, unable to meet his eyes.

On the icy street, under the long wail of shrill police sirens, a violent aura seemed to emerge from within Chen Fei, slowly spreading outwards. Whether it was the gangsters, the bikers, the delinquent girls, or the newly arrived police officers, including Zheng Buxing, they all stared at Chen Fei with terror on their faces. For some inexplicable reason, they all felt a sinister, horrifying presence.

”What are you standing around for? Seize him! Mass brawl and attempted rape, his crimes are even more severe! Take him back to the station for interrogation,” Captain Zheng Buxing ordered, his face pale. He was the only one not completely petrified.

This kind of presence, related to the aura of Ancient Martial Arts, was beyond the comprehension of an ordinary person like him. Naturally, he didn’t connect it to Chen Fei and simply attributed the eerie feeling to the late hour and the hospital’s heavy Yin energy.

At his command, two police officers approached with handcuffs to detain Chen Fei.

”Wait a minute. On what grounds are you detaining me?” Chen Fei demanded coldly, his anger flaring as he saw the police acting so indiscriminately.

”On what grounds? On the grounds of what I, Zheng Buxing, saw with my own eyes! What, are you questioning us? Are we the police, or are you?” Zheng Buxing retorted self-righteously, even taking a step forward to personally handcuff Chen Fei.

”That’s right, officer! This kind of social scum who tries to rape women should be locked up in prison and never let out for the rest of his life!” Luo Chao sneered, his arrogance on full display.

He was clearly the leader of the bikers, the delinquent girls, and the gangsters with knives. Yet, all the police officers present seemed willfully blind to it. This made Chen Fei feel intensely cold inside, filled with rage.

In the end, however, he suppressed the impulse to lash out and allowed them to cuff him.

I’d really like to see who’s plotting against me from behind the scenes. This is quite a setup.

”Take them all away!” Zheng Buxing commanded with an authoritative wave of his hand.

Chen Fei watched it all with cold detachment. This was the first time he had experienced the ugly side of power since entering the real world. His extreme anger gradually began to subside. With his current power, never mind the legendary cultivators, his strength at the Peak of First-Class Master of Ancient Martial Arts was far beyond what a mere Public Security Bureau could handle.

He would go to the Public Security Bureau of High Tech Startup Zone. He wanted to see exactly who was scheming against him and what they planned to do to him.

”Get in the car.” The policemen led Chen Fei to the police car.

”Xiao Chao, how are you? Are you alright?”

Zheng Buxing and the others were still outside. He asked Luo Chao with a pleasant and concerned expression.

Luo Chao wiped a trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth and glanced viciously at the car Chen Fei had entered. ”Uncle Zheng, I’m fine. My dad must have told you, right? You have to crush this kid for me, completely. Someone up top wants to deal with him, so no matter what happens, it’ll be covered.”

Only then did he reveal the truth. There really was someone in the shadows targeting Chen Fei, and their identity was likely far from simple.

”Don’t worry, Xiao Chao. Your Uncle Zheng knows exactly what to do,” Zheng Buxing replied with a sinister smile, his tone laced with a chilling coldness.

In the police car, Chen Fei suddenly spoke up, ”Officer, I’d like to make a phone call.”

Behind the metal bars, the young officer assigned to watch him was startled at first, then replied in an unfriendly tone, ”Make a phone call? What do you think this car is, a taxi? Just sit tight and behave, or I’ll make you regret it!”

After speaking, he menacingly raised the baton in his hand.

However, Chen Fei ignored him completely. To the young officer’s utter fear and horror, he casually twisted the handcuffs binding his wrists into scrap metal. Then, as if no one else was there, he took out his phone and said indifferently, ”When immortals fight, mortals suffer. If I were you, I wouldn’t be so eager to show my loyalty in a matter like this.”

With that, he dialed the number Huang Feng had given him. The young officer froze upon hearing his words and fell silent.

When Chen Fei called, Huang Feng was at home, massaging his father’s feet while they watched television together.

Although Huang Tao had been discharged early thanks to Chen Fei’s miraculous healing, his legs and buttocks were still a bit uncomfortable. They required regular massages to gradually return to normal, something Chen Fei had specifically instructed.

”Dad, it’s a call from Doctor Chen.”

When Huang Feng’s phone rang, he saw it was Chen Fei. His heart pounded in his chest as he announced the call.

”What are you waiting for? Answer it quickly!” Huang Tao said with a start, urging him on.

”Doctor Chen, it’s Xiao Feng. Is there anything you need?” Huang Feng asked respectfully and humbly after answering the phone.

He had a feeling he knew why Chen Fei was calling; otherwise, the doctor wouldn’t normally contact him.

”I’ve been detained by the police. I’m in a police car right now.”

Chen Fei’s calm voice came through the phone, which was on speaker. Sitting beside him, Huang Tao went pale, nearly dropping the TV remote in shock.

Huang Feng was equally stunned, stuttering, at a loss for words. He knew very well who Chen Fei was. He wasn’t just a Divine Doctor who had saved his father’s life and political career, but also a terrifying figure rumored to possess mysterious powers.

A person of his stature? Forget about their little Northern Mountain City, who in the entire Jiangnan Province would dare to touch him? But now, he had been arrested by the police. It was simply unbelievable.

”Doctor Chen, which station is it? Don’t worry, I’ll call them to release you immediately. I’m heading over right away!” Huang Tao snatched the phone from his son’s hand and spoke rapidly, his voice trembling.

”It’s nothing, just a small matter. I’m just curious who’s plotting against me from behind the scenes. There can’t be many people in Northern Mountain City capable of pulling off a move this big,” Chen Fei interrupted him nonchalantly.

Though his words were calm, Huang Tao detected an icy chill in them. He asked frantically, ”Doctor Chen, which Public Security Bureau are you at?”

”The Public Security Bureau of High Tech Startup Zone,” Chen Fei replied, his tone still even, before hanging up.

”Dad, what’s going on?” Huang Feng asked, his face pale.

”Someone set a trap and had Doctor Chen arrested at the Public Security Bureau of High Tech Startup Zone! I’ll call Little Qian right now to have him hurry over. You go downstairs and get the car ready!” Huang Tao’s voice was trembling, whether from fear, anger, or both.

As someone who had been personally saved by Chen Fei’s miraculous skills, he was acutely aware that the doctor possessed some kind of mysterious power. If Chen Fei got angry, the consequences would be more than he could bear.

Although he was the city’s Executive Vice Mayor, he was still just an ordinary man. How could he dare to underestimate such a terrifying, legendary power?

As the Executive Vice Mayor of Northern Mountain City and the man most likely to become the next mayor, Huang Tao had some inkling about that particular circle. However, he usually kept his distance. He knew that martial artists often disregarded the law, and he acknowledged that he had no way to control such individuals. Therefore, he preferred to stay well away from them.
