Chapter 1479: Chapter 29: Taking the Police Station (Part 3)

...

Outside the Xiqueslav police station, Osipovich and his men were leading the way for the Labor Party, with him and several policemen bound by their hands and escorted at the front of the line.

”Esteemed workers, ahead is the city police station. At night, the police force is sparse, with only a few working the night shift. Including us, there are a total of thirty-two people in the police station tonight.” Osipovich said with a bitter expression to Toma Jefuka.

For Osipovich and his men, today was utterly unfortunate. Originally, they thought it would be a routine night, patrolling the streets with appearances and getting through the night. Who could have expected a large group of Labor Party members to suddenly appear?

Moreover, this group held guns, at least several dozen Mosinka-Nagants. Hence, Osipovich and his men decisively chose to disarm and surrender.

Toma Jefuka said: ”Osipovich, you should know where the police station’s armory is, right?”

At this moment, Osipovich dared not hide anything and replied: ”Of course, but the key is with Mlinovic.”

Toma Jefuka asked: ”Mlinovic? Never heard of him. Shouldn’t the key be with your chief?”

Osipovich said with a wry smile: ”In theory, the key should be with the chief, but our chief hardly stays at the station at night. Either he’s home sleeping or off somewhere else, gallivanting around. He’s essentially a playboy, so apart from exploiting benefits eagerly, he doesn’t really manage affairs most of the time.”

To this, Toma Jefuka said with great exasperation: ”Indeed, when the upper beam is crooked, the lower one is slanted; the atmosphere throughout Yekaterinoslav has been corrupted by people like you.”

Regarding the Labor Party leader’s mockery, Osipovich could only nod in agreement, as he cherished his life dearly.

Toma Jefuka then said: ”From now on, don’t play any tricks. Cooperate honestly with us to take the police station, and we might credit you with a merit. Otherwise...”

Faced with the threat, Osipovich hastily replied: ”Please be assured, I will cooperate sincerely.”

Very soon, under the guidance of Osipovich as a pathfinder, the first worker squad led by Toma Jefuka successfully entered the Xiqueslav city police station, which had extremely lax defenses.

Upon reaching the entrance, the guard at the Xiqueslav city police station was even soundly asleep, unaware of the coming enemy, so the Labor Party easily confiscated the weapons.

Afterward, the Labor Party and the workers swaggered into the city police station as if returning home, easily taking down the night shift personnel who had gathered for gambling.

This operation proved unexpectedly easy, and inside the police station, Toma Jefuka and others acquired over fifty firearms, both rifles and pistols, further strengthening their forces.

In contrast to the easy capture of the police station, the battle at the Eastern City Arsenal was intense, as the soldiers guarding the arms directly engaged the Labor Party forces. ℯ

As gunfire erupted, the whole city of Xiqueslav was awakened. Citizens huddled at home, not daring to venture outside to check the situation, while the city government personnel became panicked.

The Xiqueslav city government urgently called the city police station to inquire about the situation. However, at this time, the police station was already under the control of the Labor Party, hence no response was received.

This forced the Xiqueslav city government to contact the military, seeking the Thirty-Seventh Division stationed on the outskirts of the city to come in and take charge.

In fact, the officers at the Eastern Arsenal had already informed the headquarters as soon as the attack occurred. The large contingent of the Thirty-Seventh Division was already on the way, except that as orders were issued by the headquarters, the forces influenced by the Labor Party had also quietly raised their guns, directly aiming at the headquarters of the Thirty-Seventh Division.
