Chapter 1277: Chapter 24 The Man Who Destroyed the Street

Following the Yellow Flowered Cat, the newly arisen Big Wizard of the North District, Korma, made his appearance.

After all, this was the North District, pretty much Korma’s home turf — in fact, Zheng Qing was surprised at how slowly the newly risen Big Wizard had shown up. He had thought his senior would have arrived a bit sooner.

”You’re practically a walking time bomb,” the owner of Gini Cottage said to Zheng Qing upon seeing the two young wizards, ”wherever you go, explosions follow.”

After arriving at the scene, she only looked around briefly before grasping the essence of the situation.

If there was a hint of complaint in Korma’s first sentence, then her second sentence left Zheng Qing somewhat bemused.

”I once said that if you became Lei Zhe, you could pursue me, but now I suppose I can relax the conditions a bit.”

Saying this, the newly risen Big Wizard glanced at the empty clean street and added, ”After all, Lei Zhe and Augustus only destroyed half a street.”

And Zheng Qing alone had destroyed an entire street — that was the unsaid implication in her words.

Jiang Yu stood behind Zheng Qing, trying hard to roll her eyes.

Korma winked at her.

”This has nothing to do with me,” the young scholarship student insisted, while passing the buck to his senior, ”Aren’t you a Big Wizard? And this place isn’t far from your home... with all this commotion, didn’t you hear anything?”

”Excuse me, I’ve just advanced yesterday and haven’t yet consolidated my realm!” Korma replied irritably, ”Do you think I’m slow to arrive?”

The Yellow Flowered Cat interrupted the young wizards’ pleasantries.

”This is no time for chit-chat!” it roared, its paw reaching into the void, pulling out a blurry figure, ”After causing such a disaster, you still have the mind to joke around?!”

Zheng Qing could easily tell it was the figure of his teacher, and he instantly stiffened his back a bit — as if feeling like a child whose parents had been called to school after causing trouble.

”Feeling scared now?” the Yellow Flowered Cat glanced at the uneasy scholarship student and scoffed, ”We’ll settle the account later. Now, take out that watch of yours and give it to the old man... His True Form isn’t on this island, this is just a projection.”

Hearing this, Zheng Qing dared to sneak a few more glances at that blurry figure.

Indeed, the ’Teacher’ that the Yellow Flowered Cat had pulled from the void looked serious but somewhat stiff, moving as mechanically as an Alchemy Puppet — naturally, it would be so, considering the Teacher was a being beyond ancient wizards, how could he possibly be summoned by a mere scratch of this Flower Cat’s paw?

Zheng Qing secretly chided the Yellow Flowered Cat a few times internally, while quickly taking out the silver-cased Pocket Watch from the Grey Cloth Bag, holding it with both hands, and obediently handing it over to the Teacher’s projection.

”Ten minutes,” the Yellow Flowered Cat scratched the ground with its paw for a moment, then raised its head, looking earnestly at ’Teacher’ and tentatively suggested, ”No, seven, wait, five minutes, five minutes should be enough, right?”

Its tone was somewhat uncertain.

Teacher’s projection didn’t answer it. After taking the silver Pocket Watch, he looked up at the dark night sky. The other three people and one cat on the scene followed Teacher’s gaze, all lifting their heads to look.

The dark night sky was like a heavy curtain.

No moon, no stars, no clouds, no wind, also no elves or lanterns cruising through it. Not a single reference point to use as an anchor.

Zheng Qing blinked, feeling that continuing to look up foolishly was silly.

He quietly tilted his head, sneaking a glance in the direction of ”Sir”. What startled him, however, was that the area was completely empty, without a single person in sight.

”Where’s Sir... Damn!”

The student looked back, about to ask about Sir’s whereabouts, but upon seeing the surroundings, he couldn’t help but blurt out a curse—the once desolate ruins that resembled a small square had now returned to their original state.

Narrow, deep alleys, dilapidated archways, drooping eaves, little ridge beasts perched atop roof ridges, wind chimes covered in rust hanging underneath the eaves, and at the street corner, a gargoyle with a hideous face and a repulsive appearance.

Just like five minutes before.

Of course, unlike five minutes ago, the ’Big Bear’ who was blocking the road, the Northern District Wizard, and the Tricksters hiding in the shadows on both sides of the street were all gone. Those little mushroom men blowing bubbles of sunlight had not returned to this world either.

Only the street façade had returned to normal.

Zheng Qing had witnessed Sir’s time reversal ability before, yet he was still shocked, and the two witches standing beside him were utterly speechless.

Especially Korma.

Minutes before, her expression carried a touch of the dignity and pride expected of a Big Wizard, but after witnessing this scene that surpassed magic, she completely let go of that pride, returning to the cautious and uneasy demeanor she had as the boss lady of Gini Cottage a day ago.

”Has Sir... gone back?” Eventually, Zheng Qing was the one to break the silence.

The Yellow Flowered Cat glanced at him.

”You can ask him the next time you see him.” It stretched out its paw, rubbing its eyes—its eyeball, which had been plucked out and tossed aloft as a ’moon’, was now back in its socket—then sat down on the ground, propping up its upper body as it asked in a gruff voice:

”The trouble’s been dealt with... Now, can someone tell me what exactly happened?!”

Has all the trouble been resolved?

Zheng Qing cast a skeptical look at the Flower Cat, then glanced in the direction of the school. He didn’t remember the school or the people of Trident Sword being so easy to dismiss.

Zheng Qing could afford to be casual, but Jiang Yu was not as content to remain silent.

In a few words, she briefly recounted what had happened—from their departure from Sakura Pub to being cornered on the street, the contrived accident, the altercation, and so on. The cause, course, and outcome of the entire incident were not complex. To ensure accuracy, she also carefully described the Trickster with the stature of a ’Big Bear’ and the emaciated form of the Northern District Wizard.

Korma was originally listening intently.

Until the ’Northern District Wizard’ appeared in this incident and summoned a shadow of an Outer God, the expression on the newly risen Big Wizard slowly turned pale.

”This can’t be!”

After hearing Jiang Yu’s story, Korma clenched her teeth, her voice trembling slightly, ”...that was just a curse mark, there’s absolutely no way it could provoke an ’Outer God’... even if Albani drained an entire Tangula Baiji, he couldn’t summon it! And there’s no way Albani has the power to drain a whole Tangula Baiji!”

After listening to the description from Zheng Qing and the others, she now knew the identity of the Northern District Wizard who had been there.

Jiang Yu glanced at her cautiously.

”What we saw is factual,” she said measuredly, trying to make excuses for Korma, ”Perhaps something else happened that we didn’t see.”

”Perhaps... but that kid called Albani, he sacrificed a wizard, that’s a fact.” The Yellow Flowered Cat hung its head, its fluffy tail sweeping back and forth behind it in an erratic fashion, making Zheng Qing want to stomp on it.
