High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1258: Chapter 5: The Consequences of Destroying Half a Street

The Fishmen of Linzhong Lake Reserve liked to eat amphibians like frogs and toads, which wasn’t really news to most people at Jiuyou Academy.

After all, there are not too many tasty snacks in a cold and damp place.

So, on ordinary days, if someone happened to eat an extra helping of frog meat, they’d inevitably be teased by their classmates with nicknames like ”little Fishman.”

It’s not very nice but not meant in malice either.

At the moment, the table of the young sponsored student was full of frog meat products—including a large plate of dumplings filled with frog meat, a box of whole fried frogs generously sprinkled with cumin, a dish of steamed frog eyes, a row of seaweed frog skin rolls, and even the drink was a bowl of light yellow, thick frog juice. If it weren’t for the limited capacity of his stomach, Zheng Qing would have also considered ordering a pot of boiled giant-mouthed clams or stir-fried bullfrogs.

This was clearly not a meal ordered by any sane person.

With no partitions between the tables in the cafeteria, many passersby saw the young sponsored student’s somewhat exotic meal and started to whisper and snicker.

They probably thought the boy lost a bet and was forced to eat these things.

Despite complaining about Zheng Qing’s unbalanced meal selection, Xin Fat Man was by no means slow with his hands, quickly grabbing and tearing, he ate two of Zheng Qing’s frog legs, four steamed frog eyes, and even scooped up some frog juice with a spoon to taste its seasoning.

”It tastes pretty good,” commented the 403 dormitory’s gourmet connoisseur, savoring the frog juice, ”The canteen always has strong flavors, which masked the delightful essence of the frog juice... You should try the authentic frog juice in Maya Borough’s Lima Street when you get the chance; it’s the most genuine taste you’ll find in the entire Wizard World.”

Hearing this, Zheng Qing couldn’t help but admire him.

His reason for eating this table full of frogs had to do with some sort of secret revenge—after all, Satoguya was amphibian-like in appearance, and although he couldn’t eat Its flesh, partaking in the flesh of Its relatives could quench some of his anger—but Xin Fat Man indulged purely for the love of food. The difference in their levels was clear at a glance.

”Aren’t you going to try some?” Zheng Qing glanced at Xiao Xiao and pushed the bowl of frog juice towards him, suggesting, ”Life should be filled with all sorts of adventures.”

Xiao Xiao politely pushed the bowl back towards Zheng Qing.

”Thank you,” he said, pulling at his napkin, wiping the corner of his mouth, ”I’ve had my fill with sour goat’s milk.”

”Ah, now that you mention it,” the Fat Man seemed to remember something, looked around puzzled, ”Have you guys noticed that there are quite a few students drinking goat’s milk in the cafeteria today?”

”I just asked the milk seller,” Xiao Xiao stood up, starting to clear his tableware, ”Apparently, the school’s goats produced almost three times their normal milk yield yesterday due to being frightened...”

”But that doesn’t explain why you would order goat’s milk. Just because the goats produced more milk, you suddenly like it?”

Zheng Qing found the logic ridiculous and couldn’t help but argue, ”Moreover, I’ve only ever heard of diminished milk production due to fright; what kind of goat increases its milk production when scared? If such goats existed, monster companies would probably be laughing themselves silly!”

Xiao Xiao’s movements paused, obviously he had just realized this issue too.

”This is indeed a problem,” he fished out his notebook and feather pen, hastily jotting a few words before standing straight and facing his two companions with a stern look, ”If you guys move any slower, we’ll be having lunch... Do you want to visit Nicholas while he is having his meal?”

With the Doctor’s prompting, the other two young wizards finally picked up a little speed.

Only a little boost, that was.

Because on their way to the school infirmary, they were drawn in by the crowds gathering around a speaker near the cafeteria. Since it was the weekend and mealtime, there was a sizable turnout of students around the cafeteria.

Zheng Qing stood on his tiptoes, listening in from behind the crowd for a while before he could make out the third-year veterans in red robes were vehemently criticizing Jiuyou Academy’s weak handling of the Alpha students. They were simultaneously calling for students from Jiuyou Academy to join forces and throw dung eggs at Alpha Fortress.

”What a terrible idea.” Zheng Qing gave up completely trying to understand the train of thought of those irritable young men after overhearing their plan, shaking his head as he exited the crowd to analyze with his two companions, ”...Throwing dung eggs at Alpha Fortress won’t solve any problems. And if caught, we’ll have points docked.”

”But you can’t deny that this kind of thing sounds very satisfying,” Xiao Xiao snorted, ”and that’s all most people need, just a way to let off some steam.”

The Doctor could always pinpoint the weaknesses of the human heart.

”Will Lei Zhe and the others be expelled from the school?” This was the most discussed topic in the crowd just now, and naturally, Zheng Qing was also very concerned, ”I just heard someone say that the students from Alpha Fortress have already started writing a petition, demanding that Alpha Academy negotiate with Jiuyou and severely punish Lei Zhe, while also awarding Augustus a one-pound gold medal.”

As time went on, more and more students learned about the conflict that had occurred on the Beta Town Pedestrian Street the day before, and the storm it stirred was growing bigger. Students from both academies were trying their best to defend their own people and attack the others.

This time, Xin Fat Man was the first to reply.

”I’ve been following this issue since last night,” he said with pride, patting his notebook, ”No one in the entire Academy, I dare say not even the whole First University, knows more about the aftermath than I do...”

This was a clear brag, but Zheng Qing had reasons to believe the people involved knew more than this Fat Man before him. However, he didn’t want to contest Fat Man’s claim at the moment, so as not to divert the topic.

”The biggest loser from Lei Zhe and Augustus’s fight is Beta Town,” Fat Man did not tease but shared his knowledge readily:

”But that is precisely why... the incident occurred outside the grounds of First University, falling under the jurisdiction of Beta Town. The instigators of the fight were two of the biggest student representatives in First University.”

”It’s a troublesome spring... considering the current events, the school is still counting on them to control the situation. So, turning a blind eye, the school left the matter to the Beta Town Management Committee. Beta Town doesn’t have the confidence to deal with a group of ’promising,’ ’talented’ young wizards... If things go as expected, the incident will be played down, trivialized, and hastily concluded.”

”At most, Blood Comrades and Sacred Will will take on the cost of reconstructing the damaged streets.”

A convincing analysis that was logical and well-founded.

Zheng Qing nodded in agreement as he listened. Suddenly, he realized something, and his mind came to a sharp halt. He turned to look at Fat Man: ”Happening in Beta Town means it’s Beta Town’s jurisdiction to manage? Then why were we punished by the school at the start of last year?!”
