High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1254: Chapter 1 Early May

May 2nd was a miraculous day.

On this day, a massive explosion resounded from the depths of Silent Forest, its deep reverberations echoing over the entirety of Buji Island. Even the witch dormitories at the heart of Jiuyou Academy felt the intense tremors; the golden glow of the Protect Legal Formation nearly completely obscured the color of the sun.

On this day, by the Lakeside of Bell Lake at Jiuyou Academy, under the watchful eyes of many, a defiant warlock used magic to extract the Werewolf Bloodline flowing in his heart, in an attempt to block out those slanderous noises. To many pragmatic students of Jiuyou, Nicholas’s act was incredibly foolish; in contrast, some supporters of Nicholas emerged from Alpha Academy, the very place that had started the provocations, valuing the honor of the bloodline he defended from any perspective.

Also, on this day, many students at First University sighted a Yellow flowered cat. It was a Yellow-Flowered Fox with bright eyes, glossy fur, full of energy, able to speak human language.

Many students even claimed to have seen the cat at the same time, in different places around the school.

Without exception, it was this Yellow-Flowered Fox that was inquiring about the whereabouts of two mice.

Cats hunting mice is a natural order, so many students laughed the matter off. Perhaps some more attentive students pondered how many talking Yellow-Flowered Foxes there actually were on campus—this debate briefly made it to the tail end of the top ten hotly discussed topics at the beginning of May at First University—the majority were more engaged with the explosion in the depths of Silent Forest and their fellow student Nicholas from Jiuyou Academy.

It was hard to say which topic was more legendary.

The explosion in the depths of Silent Forest, aside from making the student Guardian Formation flicker and allowing students on campus to experience a ’tremor’, had no further repercussions. The school locked down all information related to it—no reassurances, no investigations, no explanations, except for a brief announcement in the Campus Newspaper not exceeding fifty words.

On the contrary, Nicholas’s fierce resistance against his bullies led to even greater conflict between Alpha Academy and Jiuyou Academy. Although the conflict at the scene was suppressed by the professors who arrived shortly afterward, in less than half an hour, news came that Lei Zhe and Augustus had come to blows during talks, reducing a small district to rubble.

An uproar ensued across the school.

Reportedly, at the time, the two student leaders were engaged in ’peace and cooperation’ negotiations. When Nicholas’s situation reached the meeting, several mages from Jiuyou Academy, also bearing the ’half-blood’ status, stood up in outrage and withdrew from the meeting, only to be mocked by several White-robed personnel at the door. This led to a conflict that quickly escalated into a disaster.

Without a doubt, Nicholas’s three-year desire to make his mark in the school’s history was finally about to come true. Just not in the way he had hoped for.

...

...

”Green! Green?! What’s wrong with you! Don’t scare me!” the girl cried out, tears streaming down, calling to those around, ”Hurry, go get a professor! Green is dying... Someone is going to die!!”

Surrounding her was a blur, faces indistinct, but many similar shouts came from all sides.

It sounded like cheers of ’come on’, yet also of ’serves you right.’

The boy slumped at the base of a tree, drenched in blood, his face pale, struggling to open his eyes, looking at the crying girl, and reassuringly whispered, ”... it’s okay, it’s all right. Others can look down on me, laugh at me, slander me... but they can’t do that to you because of it!”

”You’re such an idiot!” the girl, flustered and angry, choked, ”You can be mocked, so can I!”

”I won’t allow it!” the boy tugged at the corners of his mouth, trying to muster a smile, ”... my blood is clean now. From this moment on, they can no longer say you loved a bastard... never again...”

The fierce wind howled, leaves whirled, and a torrential downpour began.

The large drops of rain pattered on the ground, drowning out the girl’s cries at the top of her lungs.

...

”Snap!”

Nicholas Green Oswald leaned against the pillow and his body lurched, his head heavily hitting the cabinet beside him. Intense pain radiated from his forehead, piercing deep into his bones, shattering the night’s silence, and his dream of ’heroes and beauties’.

”Hisss...”

The warlock clutched his forehead and drew in a sharp breath, cautiously glancing to the side.

The witch on the adjacent care bed was sleeping soundly, completely unaware that a young man had just been dreaming of heroics, nor that her ward had been startled awake by a nightmare and had bumped his head.

The young man massaged his forehead and carefully turned back over, his eyes catching sight of a fruit basket teetering precariously on the bedside cabinet. His eyes involuntarily widened as he slowly opened his mouth.

”Bang!”

The fruit basket crashed to the floor with a dull sound.

Nicholas gritted his teeth, eyes shut, his body almost curling into a ball. After the noise subsided, he slowly opened his eyes only to be startled by a pair of bright, twinkling eyes before him.

”Fifi... hiss!” as the young man leaned back with force, he pulled at the wound on his chest and involuntarily inhaled sharply, ”You... you’re awake?!”

”You’re awake?” asked the witch almost at the same time, asking the same question.

Both were stunned for a few seconds.

The witch was quicker to react, ”Are you feeling unwell? Is your chest hurting? Wait here, I’ll go find a doctor...”

Before she finished speaking, she darted out of the ward like a gust of wind.

Leaving the young man stretching his arm out, opening his hand, grasping at the lingering scent in the air.

”Really... so impatient...” Nicholas retracted his hand and placed it on his face, murmuring softly, feeling a strong sense of weakness throughout his body, tears quietly rolling down his cheeks.

After the incident by the lake, he had been taken to the school hospital in a critical condition, where he was promptly filled with herbal medicines.

The magic potions worked well, and in just one afternoon, Nicholas had reopened his eyes, and his torn chest wound had also healed. It was just that the bloodline he had given up on could not return.

According to the hospital, there was a good chance he would only be a trickster from now on.

The young man, eyes open, stared at the pristine canopy overhead, his mind still echoing his hoarse curses and the thunderous sound from that day.

He was unaware of the chaos he had caused and no longer cared about his pitiful academic credits.

He found himself to be incredibly calm, the heavy pressure and the invisible shackles that were once at the bottom of his heart seemed to have dissipated along with the bloodline he had drawn out.

Remarkably light.

He took a deep breath.

The door to the ward opened and a red-eyed Liz rushed in ahead of the doctor and Liu Fei Fei, throwing herself onto him and bursting into tears.

Nicholas squinted his eyes, the corners of his mouth gently curving into a smile as he gently patted his sister’s head, comforting her, ”Don’t cry, don’t cry, brother is alright, we’ll go home tomorrow.”
