The Beautiful CEO's Personal Mad Doctor

Chapter 445: Chapter 445: Cheng Yuan Is Dead for Sure This Time

Du Jiacai was on the verge of a breakdown. The Du Family and the Xiao Family had been allies for three generations. Why would Xiao Chunsheng suddenly announce they were cutting all ties?

Du Jiacai was far from slow-witted. In fact, he was exceptionally sharp and instantly grasped the heart of the matter.

’He must have offended someone!’

And recently, there was only one thing he’d done that could have possibly offended someone important: the incident with his son!

Du Jiacai whipped his head around, glaring at Du Jinlong with a look of utter disappointment. ”Golden Dragon, be honest with me. What are Cheng Yuan and Liu Qian’s backgrounds?”

Du Jinlong also realized the gravity of the situation and answered cautiously, ”Liu Qian is from Luocheng, from an ordinary family. But that punk who hit me... today was the first time I’d ever seen him. I have no idea where he came from.”

SLAP!

Du Jiacai slapped Du Jinlong hard across the face!

Fang Juan, her heart aching for Du Jinlong, shoved Du Jiacai aside and shielded her son like a mother hen protecting her chick.

”Du Jiacai! Have you lost your mind? Golden Dragon has internal injuries! How could you hit him? He’s your own son!”

Du Jiacai pointed a furious finger at Fang Juan’s nose. ”Go on, keep spoiling him! See what happens! Let him run Du Pharmaceutical into the ground completely, then you’ll be satisfied!”

Fang Juan was startled. ”What on earth is going on?”

”I suspect that the Hu Family canceling our distribution contract and the Xiao Family severing ties with us is all because of that man named Cheng.”

With a soft thud, Fang Juan collapsed onto the hospital bed.

’If Du Pharmaceutical goes under, what will I do? Starve?’

SLAP!

Fang Juan spun around and slapped Du Jinlong across the face. He was completely stunned. ”Mom, why are you hitting me, too?”

”You useless piece of trash! You’re worthless! Go find that man Cheng and apologize right now! You have to get his forgiveness! If you don’t, we’ll disown you! You can fend for yourself!”

Du Jinlong looked unconvinced. ”Dad, Mom, you’ve got to be wrong! What does the Hu Family canceling the distribution agreement have to do with that Cheng guy? You must have done something to piss off the Hu Family! Why are you pinning this on me?”

With that, Du Jinlong whipped out his phone and called his good buddy, Guo Heizi.

The call connected quickly, and Guo Heizi’s somewhat somber voice came through. ”Golden Dragon, my dad just gave me a stern warning. He told me not to hang out with you anymore. Don’t call me again.”

”Heizi, wait, don’t hang up! For the sake of that time I saved you at the reservoir, just tell me why!”

Guo Heizi fell silent for a moment, then said hesitantly, ”Go look up the name of the chairman of Yuanxi Pharmaceutical. It’d be even better if you could find a photo of him.”

With that, Guo Heizi hung up.

Du Jinlong turned to Du Jiacai. ”Dad, Heizi told me to look up the name of the chairman of Yuanxi Pharmaceutical. He said it’d be best if we could find his photo, too.”

”Alright, I’ll look him up.”

Cheng Yuan hadn’t hidden his identity as the chairman of Yuanxi Pharmaceutical. For anyone in the industry who bothered to look, the information was easy to find.

Soon, Du Jiacai found the chairman’s name.

Du Jiacai’s heart skipped a beat, and his face turned deathly pale.

Chairman of Yuanxi Pharmaceutical—Cheng Yuan??

’It can’t be, can it?’

’The punk who got hauled off to the Patrol Office was also named Cheng Yuan!’

’A coincidence!’

’It has to be someone with the same name!’

But when Du Jiacai found Cheng Yuan’s photo, he felt his entire body go limp.

The same name, and so young... it was definitely the same person they’d had thrown in the Patrol Office.

A chill ran down Du Jiacai’s spine. ’What in God’s name have I done?’

’He’d just had the man who controlled his biggest client thrown in the Patrol Office.’

’This was a fucking death wish!’

”Dad, what’s wrong? Did you find him?”

Terrified and numb, Du Jiacai didn’t even have the strength to speak. He simply handed the phone to Du Jinlong.

Du Jinlong took the phone. The moment he saw it, he looked as if he’d been struck by lightning.

’That punk is the chairman of the Yuanxi Group??’

’Oh my God!’

’This has to be some kind of sick joke!’

”I... I really didn’t know!”

”What is wrong with you two?”

Fang Juan snatched the phone from Du Jinlong’s hand. Her face went pale with fright, and she burst into tears, wailing.

”Oh, heavens! How did I give birth to such a ruinous son? Out of everyone you could have provoked, you had to pick a fight with the chairman of Yuanxi? Our Du Pharmaceutical is finished! We’re completely finished! How am I supposed to live now? I could just strangle you, you little bastard!”

Fang Juan truly felt like she could strangle Du Jinlong, but he was her own flesh and blood. She couldn’t bring herself to do it. All she could do was wail and scream hysterically in the hospital room.

======

The hospital room was a chaotic scene, a veritable opera of despair.

But back at Lin Ruoxi’s apartment, things were even more spectacular.

The water in the bathtub had sloshed and splashed.

The soft latex sheets were deeply indented.

The sofa cushions were scattered across the floor.

The balcony curtains were drawn.

「Three hours later.」

Lin Ruoxi was nestled in Cheng Yuan’s arms, gently stroking the wound on his chest.

”Darling, does it still hurt?”

”It stopped hurting a long time ago.”

”Darling, don’t be so reckless again. I don’t want to see you get hurt ever again.”

”Don’t worry. I’ll protect myself from now on.”

The two of them fell into a deep sleep.

========

「The Gu Family Estate. The Mourning Hall.」

Gu Chen’s mother, Yang Qiuyu, clutched his memorial tablet and wept in silence.

Gu Chen’s father, Gu Feiyun, his heart aching, gently embraced his wife. ”Qiuyu, please don’t be so sad. Leave avenging Chen’er to me!”

Yang Qiuyu shoved him away, her voice cold. ”You useless fool! All you do is talk about avenging Chen’er! But Cheng Yuan is still alive and well!”

Gu Feiyun looked frustrated as well. ”I don’t know what’s going on either. I set things up so Cheng Yuan would kill the Xuanyuan War God’s illegitimate son, but the War God still hasn’t made a move against him.”

”If Xuanyuan Potian won’t kill Cheng Yuan, why don’t you do it yourself?”

”Easier said than done. Cheng Yuan is incredibly powerful...”

”If you can’t beat him, can’t you hire someone who can?”

Gu Feiyun gave a bitter smile. ”Hire someone? Qiuyu, you’ve been holed up in this mourning hall all day. You probably don’t know, do you? Cheng Yuan founded the Yuanxi Group. He’s become a titan in the Dongshan pharmaceutical community! The man is raking in a fortune. If I dared to hire an assassin, the news would reach Cheng Yuan’s ears in the blink of an eye.”

”A titan of the pharmaceutical community?”

Yang Qiuyu asked, completely baffled, ”Isn’t Cheng Yuan just some poor ex-convict student? I can understand him having some talent in the Martial Dao, but how on earth did he become a pharmaceutical titan?”

”Yuanxi Pharmaceutical developed a product called the Lingxi Health Beverage. It’s said to prolong life and make a person’s body feel at least five years younger!”

Yang Qiuyu suddenly grew excited. ”Is the Lingxi Health Beverage really that miraculous? It’s not just false advertising?”

”It’s real. Your father drank a bottle, and he honestly looks years younger.”

”If it’s real, then this is perfect! Cheng Yuan is a dead man!”
