The Beautiful CEO's Personal Mad Doctor

Chapter 373: Chapter 373: You All Come for a Screen Test

When Fu Qingzhu awoke, she found herself lying outside the mist.

Fu Qingzhu subconsciously glanced into the depths of the mist, and it seemed she saw a pair of cold, merciless, vertical eyes staring back!

Fu Qingzhu’s heart skipped a beat. A chill shot up from the soles of her feet straight to her brain, raising goosebumps all over her skin!

But she quickly calmed down. ’I’m a Gold Medal Assassin of Daqingyi, after all!’

’A mere Enchanting Array and Illusion Array can’t scare me!’

’If I can’t get in, I’ll just wait here!’

’I refuse to believe it! Is Cheng Yuan never coming down from the mountain?’

’And even if I can’t wait for Cheng Yuan, can’t I wait for his family?’

「A small apartment inside Beijing’s Second Ring Road.」

Lin Ruoxi slowly opened her eyes. As consciousness returned, she took in the unfamiliar surroundings, and tears began to stream down her face uncontrollably.

’Why is fate so cruel to me?’

’I finally found a man I could love, but another woman has already sacrificed everything for him!’

Unable to accept this reality, Lin Ruoxi chose to run away.

She had dodged the surveillance cameras, changed her outfit, put on a baseball cap and sunglasses, and hailed a taxi to Beijing to seek refuge with her good friend and old college roommate—Liu Qingcheng.

After learning what Lin Ruoxi had been through, Liu Qingcheng had taken her to Gongti.

It was Lin Ruoxi’s first time in a nightclub. The two of them drank for most of the night, only getting home at three in the morning.

It wasn’t until now that Lin Ruoxi was finally waking up.

She had hoped getting drunk would make her forget Cheng Yuan, forget everything, but upon waking, the bone-deep, heart-piercing pain was even more intense.

Lin Ruoxi took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

”Qingcheng, let’s go. We’re drinking again tonight!”

Liu Qingcheng rubbed her sore, throbbing head and grimaced. ”How about tomorrow? I really can’t today. It’s Director Wang’s birthday, and I have to be at his party.”

Lin Ruoxi sighed. ”I almost forgot, you’re a star now, Qingcheng. Sometimes you don’t have a choice. Fine, I’ll go to Gongti by myself tonight.”

Liu Qingcheng grew tense. Lin Ruoxi had gone wild when she was drunk last night. If she hadn’t been there watching over her, some man with ill intentions would have definitely scooped her up.

’Ruoxi was just hurt. I can’t let her get hurt again!’

Liu Qingcheng pulled out her phone, dialed Director Wang Jing’s number, and asked in a slightly pleading tone, ”Director Wang, is it okay to bring a friend to your birthday party?”

Wang Jing’s tone was a bit chilly. ”Qingcheng, everyone here tonight is from the industry. It’s not really convenient for you to bring an outsider, is it? What if a reporter gets in?”

Liu Qingcheng quickly explained, ”My friend is definitely not a reporter, I swear on my honor! Her family is in business! Oh, and she has a nickname: the Pearl of Luocheng.”

’The Pearl of Luocheng?’

’She must be pretty, then, right?’

Wang Jing did a quick search for the Pearl of Luocheng and found a photo of Lin Ruoxi.

Wang Jing’s eyes instantly lit up. ’What a beautiful, sophisticated woman!’

Wang Jing’s tone softened instantly. ”As it happens, I have a major production that’s short a few roles. Why don’t you and your friend come over together for an audition?”

Liu Qingcheng was overjoyed. ”Thank you for the opportunity, Director Wang!”

Liu Qingcheng hung up the phone, pleasantly surprised. ”Ruoxi, Director Wang agreed to let me bring you to the birthday party! And he’s even giving us both an audition for a major production! With your looks and temperament, if you pass the audition, you’ll be a massive star! When that happens, you’ll have to look out for me!”

Lin Ruoxi had no interest in being an actress. After all, Yuanxi Pharmaceutical was raking in cash every day; she certainly wasn’t hurting for money.

Lin Ruoxi instinctively moved to refuse, but as the words reached her lips, she hesitated.

’If the movie I’m in becomes a hit, a lot of people will see it, won’t they?’

Lin Ruoxi would never admit it, of course, but subconsciously, she was hoping that Cheng Yuan would find her and give her a proper explanation about Hu Shishi.

Lin Ruoxi bit her lip and nodded gently. ”Qingcheng, I’ll leave the arrangements to you.”

Liu Qingcheng took tonight’s audition very seriously. She put on her favorite haute couture evening gown and applied her makeup with meticulous care, feeling very satisfied with her appearance.

But when she looked at Lin Ruoxi, dressed in professional attire with almost no makeup on, Liu Qingcheng’s confidence suffered a critical hit.

’How can Ruoxi be so beautiful?’

’Even as a woman, I’m falling a little bit in love!’

”Ruoxi, if I were a man, I would pursue you relentlessly!”

”If only you were a man, I wouldn’t be in this mess.”

Lin Ruoxi sighed and affectionately linked arms with Liu Qingcheng. They left the apartment, got into Liu Qingcheng’s Audi TT, and headed straight for the Lan Club.

The Lan Club was the most elite private club in the entertainment industry. Bar none.

The Lan Club boasted a prime location, bordering the core Guomao area to the east and the Distinguished Embassy District to the north, surrounded by either high-end office buildings or five-star hotels.

In such a prime, expensive area, the Lan Club occupied the entire fourth floor of the Gemini Mansion!

This just went to show how extravagantly wealthy the club’s owner was!

The design fees alone had cost tens of millions, as they had hired the creator of the Paris Baccarat Crystal Palace, the world-renowned artistic maverick Philippe Starck.

Most praiseworthy of all, every private room in the Lan Club was hung with oil paintings by famous artists.

Each oil painting was valued at a minimum of one hundred thousand euros!

In the top three private rooms, there were even world-famous paintings worth tens of millions of euros!

Everyone in the entertainment circle took pride in being able to enter the Lan Club!

Only the true heavyweights of the entertainment world were qualified to enter the first three rooms.

Wang Jing had booked Room Nine at the Lan Club. Being able to get into the top ten rooms, even at the very end of the list, was a testament to Wang Jing’s lofty status in the entertainment industry.

It even meant that, to a certain extent, he could afford to snub ordinary producers.

Of course, in front of the true titans of the film and television industry, Wang Jing was just a junior.

It was five-thirty in the afternoon, half an hour before the birthday party was scheduled to start, yet the stars who were qualified to attend had already arrived early.

There were even several producers from small and medium-sized film and television companies.

A few producers were whispering among themselves.

”Last year, Director Wang only got Room Twenty-Three. I didn’t expect him to break into the top ten this year! I’m afraid by next year, we won’t even be qualified to work with him anymore.”

”It can’t be helped. His movies are box office hits, and he’s even cozied up to the Lan Club’s second-largest shareholder!”

...

Tang Yifei, a top-tier actress launched to fame by Wang Jing, was surrounded by a crowd of people.

”Sister Yifei, I heard Director Wang just secured a major production. The lead actress role must be yours, right? Have the supporting female roles been decided?”

Tang Yifei had thought the lead role was in the bag, but just a moment ago, Wang Jing had told her that he was adding a last-minute audition tonight before deciding who would get the part.

Tang Yifei couldn’t understand why, until she saw Liu Qingcheng—or rather, the woman on Liu Qingcheng’s arm: Lin Ruoxi.

Now Tang Yifei understood why Wang Jing had suddenly added an audition.

’It’s definitely for this woman!’

A vicious glint flashed in Tang Yifei’s eyes. ’I’ve sacrificed so much. On what grounds does this woman get to waltz in and take it?’

’No. I have to destroy her!’
