The Beautiful CEO's Personal Mad Doctor

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: I’ll Be the Master of My Own Life

The whole business with Hu Shishi had killed Cheng Yuan’s mood. Feeling rather listless, he went to the guest room.

Cheng Yuan suddenly felt a twinge of regret. ’Had he made a mistake going to the Provincial City to leverage their power just to help the Gu Family through their crisis?’

After much thought, Cheng Yuan came to a realization.

’In the end, you have to be strong yourself. Borrowing power always comes at a price!’

Cheng Yuan silently made a resolution: from now on, he had to redouble his efforts in cultivation!

’If he could become a Grandmaster, or even a Martial King, would Hu Yidao still dare to force a marriage upon him?’

As the sky began to lighten at the crack of dawn, Cheng Yuan got up and went to the small courtyard to practice his cultivation.

He faced the rising sun of the early morning, training his Double Pupil.

Streams of the morning’s Hongmeng Purple Qi were drawn in and absorbed, flickering within his Double Pupil as his eyes radiated a noble purple light.

The surrounding flowers, grass, and trees sensed this noble aura. Though there was no wind, they swayed, as if nodding to him from afar.

The sun fully crested the horizon, and Cheng Yuan slowly closed his eyes.

Cheng Yuan felt a building pressure in his eyes; it seemed his Double Pupil had reached a bottleneck.

Cheng Yuan had a faint feeling that if he could break through this bottleneck, his Double Pupil would undergo a major transformation.

However, Cheng Yuan wasn’t sure how to break through it.

After all, there were no records regarding the Double Pupil in the Celestial Witch Inheritance.

”Cheng Yuan, it’s time to eat.”

Lin Ruoxi’s sweet voice drifted over.

Cheng Yuan turned to look and saw Lin Ruoxi with a sweet smile on her face, as if last night had never happened.

”What are you spacing out for? Mom already has breakfast ready. Hurry up and come eat!”

Cheng Yuan nodded. ”Ruoxi, you’re not angry anymore?”

Lin Ruoxi gave Cheng Yuan a complicated look. She had been thinking all night. ’I really can’t blame Cheng Yuan for this. I shouldn’t be angry with him. Wouldn’t that just push him toward Hu Shishi?’

’The fact that the Hu Family and Hu Shishi have taken a liking to Cheng Yuan, doesn’t that just prove how exceptional he is?’

’As for her, she had chosen Cheng Yuan as a shield in the first place because she was already somewhat fond of him. After spending so much time together recently, those feelings had grown exponentially, blossoming into genuine affection.’

’It wasn’t every day she met a man who was so exceptional, so compatible, and whom she genuinely liked. Why should she give him up so easily?’

Although she had accepted the situation, Lin Ruoxi had no intention of letting Cheng Yuan off the hook that easily. ”You think it’s that simple? You haven’t even tried to sweet-talk me, so of course I’m still angry. I just don’t want to worry Mom and Dad.”

As she spoke, Lin Ruoxi jutted her chin in the direction of the dining room.

Far from feeling dejected, Cheng Yuan was ecstatic. ’Since Ruoxi is giving me a chance to win her over, it must mean she’s ready to forgive me. She just needs me to give her an out!’

”Honey, do you like to play basketball?”

”Of course! I was a starter for the women’s varsity team back in college!”

”That’s great! The new *Slam Dunk* movie just came out, we should go see it. We’ve known each other this long and we’ve never even gone to the movies together!”

Lin Ruoxi’s heart instantly soared. ’Is Cheng Yuan asking me on a date?’

’She and Cheng Yuan were in a ”marry first, love later” situation; they really did need to properly nurture their relationship.’

Lin Ruoxi put on a casual air. ”Fine, you can make the arrangements. But don’t get your hopes up. Don’t think one movie is going to get you off the hook!”

Cheng Yuan smiled faintly. ’Back in college, he was always working part-time jobs to buy gifts for Wang Shanshan, so he’d barely had any time to take her on dates.’

’He would make up for all the dates he missed out on back in college, but this time with Ruoxi!’

”Of course I can’t get off the hook that easily. I’m going to take you to every restaurant in Luocheng and explore every corner of the city with you. I’m going to make you the happiest woman in the world.”

Cheng Yuan’s words made Lin Ruoxi’s heart burst with joy, but she put on a haughty expression. ”Hmph. We’ll see about that.”

After they had eaten their fill, Lin Ruoxi and her parents left for work.

Cheng Yuan and Shen Youchu, for their part, resumed their training.

To maximize their cultivation efficiency, Cheng Yuan brewed two pots of Tiger and Wolf Medicine.

Cheng Yuan looked at Shen Youchu with a very serious expression. ”Youchu, these two doses can drastically speed up your cultivation, but it will likely be painful. Whether you drink it, and how much you drink, is up to you to decide.”

Shen Youchu smiled. ”From my time at the orphanage when Zhu Wenhu was in charge, I can’t make many claims, but if there’s one thing I’m not afraid of, it’s pain.”

With that, Shen Youchu picked up the large bowl and, GULP GULP, downed the medicinal liquid in one go.

This Tiger and Wolf Medicine was several times more potent than a normal dose. The moment the liquid entered her stomach, Shen Youchu felt a fire ignite within her. An astonishing wave of heat surged up, flooding violently into her Meridians!

Soon, Shen Youchu’s Meridians were filled with the immense energy, stretched to the point of excruciating pain, feeling as if they were on the verge of bursting!

But Shen Youchu showed no signs of worry. Instead, a wild, almost crazed look appeared on her face!

”OPEN!!”

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

In that instant, Shen Youchu forced open over a hundred of her minor meridians!

The process was so violent that she ruptured a full twenty minor meridians in the process!

”Ngh!~”

Beads of cold sweat broke out on Shen Youchu’s forehead. Her face had gone pale, and her body was trembling slightly!

And yet, instead of stopping, Shen Youchu accelerated the assault!

More and more of her minor meridians began to rupture!

But Shen Youchu wasn’t worried in the slightest. The surging Medicinal Power instantly enveloped the ruptured pathways, repairing them in moments.

The newly repaired meridians were now even more resilient. Even when stretched to the point of unbearable pain by the immense energy, they showed no signs of rupturing again!

Shen Youchu’s ferocity spurred Cheng Yuan on. Gritting his teeth, he downed his own bowl of the medicinal liquid in one gulp!

Cheng Yuan’s bowl was several degrees more potent than Shen Youchu’s. His face instantly flushed a deep, purplish red!

Cheng Yuan’s Cultivation was a step higher than Shen Youchu’s; all the minor meridians in his limbs were already open, allowing him to contain more than double the energy she could.

But this medicinal liquid was far too potent. The energy it generated instantly filled every single meridian in Cheng Yuan’s body to the bursting point!

If Cheng Yuan couldn’t find a new outlet for the energy, all of his meridians would rupture, and he would be dead within ten minutes!

He was backing himself into a corner!

After all, many of the meridians in the torso were intertwined with the internal organs. Without the determination to risk it all for a chance at a breakthrough, one’s cultivation speed could never be fast enough!

’Time to go all in!’

’Charge!’

Cheng Yuan desperately needed power!

’Cheng Yuan had to admit, he didn’t dislike Hu Shishi. In fact, he was grateful to her and held her in high regard.’

’But he deeply resented other people interfering in his life!’

’He couldn’t accept Hu Yidao arranging a marriage for him!’

’He, Cheng Yuan, had to be the master of his own destiny!’

Cheng Yuan gritted his teeth and launched an all-out assault on the minor meridians in his torso!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

A torrent of energy like ten thousand galloping horses rushed from his limbs into his torso! It crashed into his internal organs like a flash flood!!

CRACKLE! POP!

It sounded like beans being roasted inside Cheng Yuan’s body, a continuous popping and crackling!

In a single instant, Cheng Yuan had forced open more than half of the minor meridians around his internal organs!

Cheng Yuan was prepared for his minor meridians to rupture and was ready to begin repairing them.

To his surprise, however, his minor meridians were incredibly resilient. Despite the intense pain, they showed no signs of breaking whatsoever!

This left Cheng Yuan utterly stunned; he couldn’t comprehend what was happening to his body!

’This defied all logic!’

’According to the records in the Celestial Witch Inheritance, there was a limit to the amount of force the human meridians could withstand, and the force his minor meridians were currently enduring had long since surpassed that limit!’

’And yet, his minor meridians remained completely unscathed!’

’There was only one possibility!’

’Could it be...’
