Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 921: Chapter 922: Danger in the Storm

These days, it has been raining almost everywhere in G Province. The situation in the capital city isn’t too bad; the rain isn’t very heavy, and the city’s drainage system is quite good.

But he had also heard that in some mountainous areas, the rain was extremely heavy, and it had been raining for even longer, pouring torrentially for a week already.

Strictly speaking, Shiyi is not a rainy season, but the weather in G Province this year seemed very peculiar.

”Guan Town has experienced landslides and the river water has surged. The most serious situation has occurred in a small village called Jiguan Village. The local area has requested our Alliance District to organize support, and Officer Yang has already sent a pioneer team. However, we need to cooperate in transporting a batch of emergency supplies there, because the roads might be blocked at any moment due to landslides, which presents a great danger. I want to assign this mission to your team. What are your thoughts?”

The Aristocratic Family Alliance Supervisory Guard Team owes its high standing among the public and enjoys their admiration and affection precisely because every time there is such a situation, our Alliance District would not hesitate to contribute both money and effort.

Despite being a civilian organization, none would underestimate it.

”No objections! We can depart at any time!”

”But I have heard that your camp has been training in the rain for several days, especially you...”

Meng Xinian stood up straight, ”All training is for the purpose of performing each mission more excellently! It is because we have trained these past few days that our team is better adapted to the severe weather currently in Guan Town!”

They didn’t need further adaptation, so taking on this mission was the most suitable assignment for them.

”Good, time is of the essence, so I won’t say more. Once you take on the mission, you must complete it excellently! Although you are going to transport supplies, once the supplies arrive, you must also join the rescue efforts and help with evacuating citizens. You will be among the last personnel sweeping the rear. Understood?”

”Understood!”

”Go now. The supplies need to be loaded onto vehicles, we’ll depart in half an hour!”

”Yes!”

Upon leaving the command room, Meng Xinian immediately issued orders. Everyone was to assemble and prepare to depart within ten minutes.

He quickly returned to his dormitory, changed his clothes, and made a phone call.

Chiang Songhai answered the call, ”Hello?”

”Grandpa, it’s me.”

”Xinian? Have you eaten yet?”

”Not yet, have you eaten, grandpa? Has it also been raining continuously in the county these past few days?”

”We have eaten. It’s been raining constantly. It stopped this morning, but now I see that the sky is darkening again, looks like it’s going to rain.”

”Then don’t go out, and make sure to close all the doors and windows at home,” Meng Xinian cautioned before asking, ”Where’s Little?”

”Chiang Xiaoxiao went back to Peace Town yesterday. She didn’t tell you?”

”She went back alone? Is there something wrong?”

He had talked on the phone with Chiang Xiao the day before yesterday, but Chiang Xiaoxiao hadn’t mentioned that she would be returning to Peace Town over the weekend. Was there some sort of emergency?

Chiang Songhai didn’t know how to explain the situation to Meng Xinian, and thought it would be better for Chiang Xiao to tell him herself. So, he replied, ”Right, she went back by herself. It’s nothing serious.”

Meng Xinian couldn’t hide his disappointment.

He genuinely hoped to have a few words with Chiang Xiaoxiao before leaving on the mission. But now, there wasn’t enough time to call Peace Town and have Hu Xibing find her to take the phone call.

”Xinian, is there something on your mind?”

”Yes, just wanted to tell Little that we’re about to depart to Guan Town to help the locals relocate due to the continuous torrential rains. I have to leave now and don’t know when I’ll be back.”

Hearing this, Chiang Songhai suddenly became very worried, ”Does everyone have to relocate? Is the situation that serious?”

”In Guan Town, there’s a little village called Jiguan Village, situated in the mountains and downstream of a reservoir. The situation is quite serious. Grandpa, just let Little know about it; I might not be able to contact her for a few days. You don’t have to worry either; after the mission, when I return to the Alliance District, I’ll call again. Grandpa, I’m pressed for time, I need to hang up now.”
