Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 916: Chapter 917 Outsiders Have Come

”Has anyone ever had an accident?”

”No, the game on the mountain has also decreased a lot recently. I figure those little creatures have wised up and run off deeper into the forest.”

Ge Dejun and Xu Linjiang didn’t seem too disappointed when they mentioned this, as Chiang Xiao had already analyzed for them that they couldn’t rely on Bai Gu Mountain for much longer.

So now they were also figuring out other ways to make a living. Since they made quite a bit from selling chestnuts, they had confidence in them and had begun to follow Chiang Xiao’s advice to lease a small part of the mountain to plant chestnuts, set up a small factory, package them, and expand the sales market.

The mountain plot had been decided upon; it was a small area of Bai Gu Mountain close to Peace Town.

Technically, it was still part of Siyang Village, and they had almost finalized the negotiations with Secretary Yao.

Chiang Xiao felt a relief upon hearing their plans.

”Our trips into the mountains have become a lot less frequent. Mainly, we’re looking for a chance to see if we can transplant those two wild chestnut trees to the hillside we are planning to lease. Little, it would be such a pity to give up on those two wild chestnut trees; I’ve tasted chestnuts from other places, but they are never as good as the two wild ones here. After transplanting them, I also plan to cultivate seeds from them, plant that variety exclusively, and I’m sure our chestnuts will sell well in the future,” Xu Linjiang shared his plans as well.

”Uncle, your idea is great. Those two wild chestnut trees aren’t Siyang Village’s property, so if you transplant them, they won’t be able to say anything about it. Moreover, if you’re going to do it, you have to do it quickly.”

Once the ancient tomb is discovered, the whole area will be cordoned off, and it’ll be impossible to go in and dig up trees then.

”Alright, let’s think of a way to speed things up,” Xu Linjiang decided immediately after hearing what Chiang Xiao said, ready to take action as soon as the weather cleared.

Thinking back on her past life, Chiang Xiao considered the distance between the section of the mountain that was cordoned off and the hillside they intended to lease, and she was reassured.

They should still be quite far apart, so it probably wouldn’t affect their chestnut plantation.

”Well, in that case, after you’ve moved the chestnuts, try your best not to go deep into the mountains anymore, to avoid running into those people,” Chiang Xiao advised.

”Okay, we’ll listen to you,” Ge Dejun and Xu Linjiang nodded in agreement immediately.

Liu Pei, who had been listening on the side, suddenly chimed in, ”Speaking of those outsiders Little mentioned, I’ve actually run into a few of them in the town these past days, carrying big bags and looking for places to stay. I have no idea what they were carrying.”

Chiang Xiao’s heart skipped a beat, ”Auntie, did you run into one person or several people together?”

”I’ve encountered them twice. Once, it was just one person. Another time, there were three of them. I overheard them say they would hurry over in a couple of days. Could it be that some of them haven’t arrived yet?”

Those must be the people.

Chiang Xiao also felt that it was unlikely those people would act alone.

But now, she couldn’t be sure if it was one group or several.

Hearing her say that, Chiang Xiao couldn’t help but warn Ge Dejun and Xu Linjiang again to avoid going into the mountains as much as possible.

Liu Pei was also worried.

Chiang Xiao thought about finding someone to keep an eye on those people’s movements, but she couldn’t decide on the right person. Hu Xibing was busy with his business; she couldn’t expect him to shut his shop and keep watch over those people all the time.

Xu Linjiang and Ge Dejun were not suitable either. She was just worried about their safety and wished they would stay as far away as possible; how could she ask them to get involved?
