Supreme Warrior in the City

The Second Elder turned to the Master of the Lingxiao Pavilion: ”Master Ling, I don’t know how Sect Leader Qi has bewitched you, but I have never harbored any hostility towards the Lingxiao Pavilion. Our four major sects were meant to unite and support each other, initially to resist Qinghe Academy and Su Yang’s alliance, and now to confront Heaven’s threat. It all depends on us. You were the ones who supported me from the beginning. As long as you have no ill intentions toward me, I definitely won’t let you down!”

”However, Sect Leader Qi is too cunning in his ways. To seize power and elevate the status of Tianya Haijiao among the four major sects, and even to trample us underfoot, he’s done so many sneaky things behind our backs. He captured Su Yang and imprisoned him without telling us, just to obtain the Heavenly Destiny Treasure Book and the alchemy secret technique from Su Yang. If you say he doesn’t have malicious intentions, do you believe it?”

The Second Elder knew that it was useless to talk to Sect Leader Qi now. So, he could only try to persuade the Master of the Lingxiao Pavilion. As long as the Master could shift to his side, Sect Leader Qi would be nothing to fear.

In fact, the Second Elder was deeply regretting it now. Had he known, he wouldn’t have sent the Sky Blade Peak Master and the experts among the four major sects away. If those people were here, Sect Leader Qi and the Master of Ling would never have dared to do such things!

Sect Leader Qi sneered, ”At death’s door, you’re still playing these games of alliance, does it make any sense? We know very well the things you’ve done, who are you trying to deceive?”

”I...who have I deceived?” the Second Elder was stunned, he himself didn’t know what he had done.

”Hmph, take a look at this!” Sect Leader Qi directly tossed two letters in front of the Second Elder.

The Second Elder took them and looked them over, suddenly dumbstruck: ”This...where did these come from? Who wrote them?”

”Who wrote them isn’t important; what’s important is to whom they were sent!” Sect Leader Qi said leisurely; it was something Master Ling had said to him before, and now he was saying it to the Second Elder.

”Sent to whom?” The Second Elder’s expression changed urgently, suddenly realizing the gravity of the situation.

”Second Elder, at this point, are you still playing dumb with us, is it amusing?” Sect Leader Qi said heavily.

”When did I play dumb?” the Second Elder hurriedly said: ”I...I really don’t know what is happening!”

”These two letters were indeed sent to you!” Sect Leader Qi said angrily: ”Don’t tell me you don’t know about this!”

”I truly don’t know!” the Second Elder became anxious: ”I know nothing about this, what on earth are these two letters about? Who said they should be sent to me, I... I never received them!”

”Of course, because we intercepted them!” Sect Leader Qi sneered.

The Second Elder ignored Sect Leader Qi and anxiously looked at Master Ling: ”Master Ling, you...you mustn’t believe him, these two letters must be forged by him to frame me. Sect Leader Qi is utterly despicable; only he could do something so shameless. Don’t be fooled by him, I absolutely did not do such things...”

Sect Leader Qi sneered and didn’t say a word. These two letters were initially discovered by Master Ling himself. By saying such things now, it was tantamount to doubting Master Ling, calling him despicable and shameless. Thus, there was no need for Sect Leader Qi to say anything further.

Sure enough, Master Ling’s expression changed immediately. He looked at the Second Elder angrily and said solemnly, ”These two letters were not forged by Sect Leader Qi, I discovered them. Second Elder, are you implying that I forged these letters?”

”Ah?” The Second Elder was dumbfounded, realizing he had misspoken, and hurriedly said: ”I...I didn’t mean that, but... but I truly don’t know what has happened. Master Ling, I really have not done such things, I am completely unaware of the situation...”

”Second Elder, you truly can act!” Master Ling said severely: ”You bribed someone in my Lingxiao Pavilion, having them spy on our secrets, documenting some clandestine history to give to you so you could better control us. Are you saying you don’t know about these deeds? Haha, Second Elder, if I hadn’t investigated this matter myself, I might have really been deceived by you!”

The Second Elder was even more bewildered, anxiously saying: ”No, what’s really happening here? When did I bribe someone in your Lingxiao Pavilion? I... I truly know nothing about this...”

”You don’t know?” Master Ling said coldly: ”Alright, then I will make sure you die knowing full well!”

With a wave of Master Ling’s hand, several people behind him immediately brought in a middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man’s face was ashen as he came to the scene and directly collapsed to the ground.

”Li Yuan, tell us what these two letters are all about!” Master Ling said solemnly.

Li Yuan trembled with fear, unable to speak a word for a long time, his mouth agape.

”I...I don’t recognize him!” The Second Elder panicked: ”Master Ling, could it be you’re deceived? I have never met him, how could this be possible?”

Master Ling looked coldly at Li Yuan: ”Li Yuan, explain everything clearly. I will banish you from the Lingxiao Pavilion, but I can spare your life!”

Li Yuan’s complexion finally recovered somewhat, and he trembled: ”I... I was bribed by someone from the Medicine Sect to write these things and hand them over...”

”What the hell are you saying!” the Second Elder roared: ”Say that again, when did I bribe you? When did I meet you? Explain clearly to me!”

Master Ling said coldly: ”Li Yuan, do you recognize this person before you?”

Li Yuan looked at the Second Elder and shook his head blankly.

The Second Elder was instantly overjoyed: ”See, I told you, I have never met him, I don’t know him; this is pure slander against me!”

Sect Leader Qi frowned, could there be more to this matter?

”Then why do you say the Medicine Sect directed you to do this?” Master Ling said solemnly.

”The person I made contact with was someone from the Medicine Sect, not… not this person… I’ve never met him…” Li Yuan said.

Sect Leader Qi was invigorated, hurriedly asking: ”Who from the Medicine Sect?”

Li Yuan said softly: ”His name is Lin Yi; he holds a high position in the Medicine Sect…”

”Lin Yi!?” Sect Leader Qi’s eyes widened: ”Second Elder, isn’t he your junior brother?”

The Second Elder was also taken aback, not only was he his junior brother, but he was someone the Second Elder greatly valued; how could he be involved in this matter?

”Impossible, impossible!” the Second Elder immediately shouted: ”This is absolutely impossible, it is definitely someone deliberately framing us!”
