Supreme Warrior in the City

The Second Elder was sitting in the room, constantly contemplating matters concerning the Ends of the Earth after having spoken with Sect Leader Qi.

The trace of coldness in Sect Leader Qi’s eyes earlier was not well concealed, and the Second Elder saw it clearly. He also knew that Sect Leader Qi had become hostile toward him, so he was plotting how to deal with the people at the Ends of the Earth and let the Jade-faced Judge take their place.

In fact, just as Sect Leader Qi thought, the Second Elder indeed wanted to cultivate the group led by the Jade-faced Judge, to have them gain a foothold among the four major sects. After all, Ge Kaiyang is his disciple, and once these people join, it would also increase his influence and solidify his control.

However, before he could come up with a plan, someone rushed in: ”Second Elder, Sect Leader Qi of the Ends of the Earth and Peak Master Ling are here to see you...”

Before he finished speaking, Sect Leader Qi and Peak Master Ling had already walked into the inner chamber, smiling, ”Second Elder, how are you?”

The Second Elder furrowed his brow. Normally, anyone wanting to see him must be announced and require his consent. These two coming in without his permission angered him greatly.

However, he did not directly scold them, and simply asked indifferently, ”What is the matter?”

Seeing the Second Elder’s demeanor, Sect Leader Qi’s anger surged, and he shouted furiously, ”What is the matter? We are here to kill you!”

Upon hearing this, the Second Elder was taken aback. He immediately stood up, only now noticing that behind them was a group of experts from the two major sects.

What was most crucial was that, even the people in this manor were also controlled by them. No matter how foolish the Second Elder was, he knew something was amiss.

”You... what do you want to do...” The Second Elder panicked a bit. Although his skills in the Medicine Sect were notable, compared to Sect Leader Qi and Peak Master Ling, he was significantly lacking.

”Was what I said unclear?” Sect Leader Qi said in a deep voice, ”We’re here to kill you, do you need me to repeat it?”

”You... are you crazy?” The Second Elder glared, ”We are allies, if you are here to kill me, what do you mean by that? Have you been bribed by the Heavenly Realm? Don’t forget, we work for the Heavenly Court. If you switch sides, the Heavenly Court will never let you go once they return!”

”We’re not crazy, and we’re not working for the Heavenly Realm, we just want to kill you!” Sect Leader Qi said coldly.

The Second Elder was dumbfounded, ”Why... why?”

”Why? Do you really need us to answer that?” Sect Leader Qi said coldly, ”Don’t you know what you have done?”

The Second Elder panicked, recalling that he had sent Ge Kaiyang to investigate the Ends of the Earth. Could Sect Leader Qi have found out?

But, even if he knew, it was merely a matter between himself and the Ends of the Earth. What did it have to do with the Lingxiao Pavilion? Why was Peak Master Ling here, and what did it mean?

Unable to fathom the situation, the Second Elder decided to play dumb and said solemnly, ”Sect Leader Qi, I don’t know what you mean! However, I hope you remember that we are allies. Back then, I was the one who went up to the Heavenly Court and negotiated the alliance, forming the Heavenly Court among our four major sects. Now you want to kill me, even if you agree, will the others in the four major sects agree?”

”I agree!” Peak Master Ling said outright.

”Ling Master, what’s gotten into you?” The Second Elder rushed, ”I’ve never been unfair to Lingxiao Pavilion; what do you mean by this?”

”Unfair to Lingxiao Pavilion?” Peak Master Ling laughed, ”Second Elder, in light of your recent actions, do you really have the face to say such things? In the four major sects, does Lingxiao Pavilion even have a presence, don’t you know yourself?”

The Second Elder was momentarily speechless, as the facts were as Peak Master Ling said. The Second Elder practiced nepotism; regarding the Medicine Sect, it was naturally under his influence. And his close relationship with the Peak Master of Sky Blade Peak saw the elevation of Sky Blade Peak’s status. What’s more, he continuously supported the Jade-faced Judge’s side.

In contrast, he suppressed Lingxiao Pavilion heavily. Their presence was almost nonexistent, all to ensure that Lingxiao Pavilion would have fewer merits and rewards when the Heavenly Court people returned to the Heavenly Realm.

In truth, the Second Elder wanted his own faction to grow stronger, thereby enhancing his own dominance.

Now, listening to Peak Master Ling, he truly couldn’t refute it. What he did was indeed unjust!

Taking a deep breath, the Second Elder said in a low voice, ”For this matter, you’re willing to kill me? Have you all forgotten how we allied in the first place? Doing this will only harm our friends while pleasing our enemies. In-fighting among our four major sects will ultimately please none other than the Heavenly Realm, Su Yang, and those adversaries of ours among the four major sects. Do you think this is worth it?”

”At this point, who cares if it pleases or pains others?” Sect Leader Qi said coldly, ”If things continue as you’re doing, our Ends of the Earth and Lingxiao Pavilion will eventually be eroded by you, and we might as well stay extinct. Moreover, isn’t it clear enough right now? Our strength is certainly no match for the Heavenly Realm. After this, we’ll definitely be fleeing everywhere, waiting for the Heavenly Court to come to our aid. With this being the case, the state of our strength won’t greatly affect the battle. On the contrary, keeping you around always poses a risk, and it’s better to solve it early. As long as we survive until the Heavenly Court returns, we’ll be the ones controlling the Human World!”

The Second Elder’s face drastically changed; he finally comprehended the meaning behind these two’s actions. Not only were they trying to preserve themselves, but they were also attempting to seize power. In short, because of the actions of the Second Elder, they felt threatened and intended to quickly kill the Second Elder and others to completely resolve the matter.

”Sect Leader Qi, don’t frame me falsely!” The Second Elder hastily exclaimed, ”I may have targeted the Ends of the Earth, but I have never had any opinion against Lingxiao Pavilion. As for why I targeted the Ends of the Earth, should you not know well? The last time the Heavenly Realm discovered Su Yang in your Ends of the Earth dungeon, how do you explain that?”

”That matter was a set-up; I am also a victim, how am I supposed to explain!” Sect Leader Qi shouted angrily.

”Are you unclear if you were set-up or not?” The Second Elder said solemnly, ”I have already dispatched people to investigate, Su Yang was captured by you and put into your Ends of the Earth dungeon long ago, and it was by your personal arrangement. Do you tell me this was a set-up?”
