Supreme Warrior in the City

Su Yang found it was never particularly easy to gather information.

The people he had arranged before had long been dealt with by the people of the four major sects. After that, if Su Yang wanted to understand the situation, he always sought out Lv Donglin.

However, now that Lv Donglin’s situation had changed, Su Yang lost a source of information. If he wants to know news about the four major sects, Su Yang would have to inquire himself.

But the current situation outside was unclear to Su Yang; he didn’t know where the four major sects were right now. So he dared not act rashly and could only take Lv Donglin back to the World Melting Furnace to consult Black Widow on countermeasures.

Black Widow was also quite shocked to hear about what was happening outside.

”Are you sure that the Beigong War God is really dead?” Black Widow asked again, her face showing disbelief.

”Well...” Su Yang murmured, ”The news transmitted from the four major sects indeed indicates this. Moreover, I did receive information that the place where Beigong War God lived in Yan Gui City has almost turned into ruins!”

Black Widow pondered for a while and said in a deep voice, ”If that’s really the case, then the actions of the four major sects this time aren’t simple at all. How much effort has the Jade-faced Judge put into this situation?”

Su Yang said, ”He was previously mentioned by Mr. Gong as having some fallback strategies, so I wasn’t too worried. I didn’t expect such things would happen. Could it be that Beigong War God’s fallback wasn’t utilized?”

Black Widow remained silent, still contemplating these matters. After a long silence, she suddenly raised her head to look at Su Yang and said in a deep voice, ”Su Yang, what’s your relationship with Qi Zhishan?”

”Well...” Su Yang thought for a bit and said, ”It’s fairly decent. We’ve met twice; there was no grudges the first time, and during the second he fought alongside me, helping a great deal!”

”Does that mean if there’s a chance, you two could still cooperate, even fight side by side?” Black Widow asked.

”Possibly!” Su Yang nodded.

”Very good!” Black Widow stood up and said in a deep voice, ”Have you noticed a problem? After the Jade-faced Judge joined that side of the four major sects, he’s successively dealt with the Buddha Palace and Yan Gui City?”

Su Yang froze for a moment, knowing there was more to Black Widow’s words. After thinking for a while, he whispered, ”You’re suggesting he’s likely to target Qi Zhishan next?”

”I don’t know what the Jade-faced Judge’s exact goal is, but it’s definitely possible!” Black Widow responded gravely, ”He might even target the Martial Champion!”

”Well...” Su Yang pondered then shook his head: ”Why do I feel it’s unlikely? He targeted the Buddha Palace due to deep grudges with Mahakaya and sought revenge. Dealing with the Beigong War God was also because of mutual grievances, while trying to lure me out, even trap Earth’s End to make them part of the four major sects. However, targeting the Martial Champion and Qi Zhishan bears little meaning. Doing so would only weaken the strength further, allowing Heavenly Court to further diminish in strength. Paradise in the south is eyeing this eagerly, and if he weakens Heavenly Court at this time, even if they gain enough influence in the four major sects, it’s of little significance. Because by then, Paradise will just eradicate them!”

”That’s precisely the crux of the issue!” Black Widow said sternly, ”The Jade-faced Judge must be aware, yet why does he keep doing these things?”

Su Yang was a bit puzzled and muttered, ”What do you mean?”

”You should find Qi Zhishan!” Black Widow said, ”If the four major sects don’t act against him, then fine. But if they do, Qi Zhishan can surely fight alongside you. Also, if the four major sects indeed target Qi Zhishan, then the actions of the Jade-faced Judge become intriguing!”

Su Yang glanced at Black Widow. Although unclear about the situation, Black Widow’s analysis never failed, so he had no doubts.

”Alright then, I will go find Qi Zhishan!” Su Yang nodded.

”Wait a minute!” Black Widow grabbed him: ”You say you’re going to find him, but where will you look for him?”

”Well...” Su Yang scratched his head; finding Qi Zhishan indeed was not easy.

Qi Zhishan, after leaving Lake Heart Island, appeared once to help Su Yang, and since then no one has seen him. Finding him now is indeed challenging.

”Sister, do you have any way?” Su Yang asked.

”Do you know why Qi Zhishan practiced dead meditation?” Black Widow retorted.

”Uh, seems like it relates to his cultivation concept.” Su Yang said, ”He probably focused too much on trivial things, hence practicing dead meditation for so long!”

”The words are as such, but why did he focus on trivial things?” Black Widow continued questioning.

Su Yang shook his head; he didn’t know these matters.

”This story is rather long!” Black Widow remarked, ”Basically, it’s a very melodramatic love story. When Qi Zhishan was young, he liked a girl, but the girl was coincidentally betrothed to a cousin. Both were affectionate but unfortunately, Qi Zhishan couldn’t overcome his own barriers, bound by the so-called traditional etiquette and morals.”

”That girl eventually married his cousin, who knowing of her affection for Qi Zhishan, turned twisted, tormenting her in myriad ways. Qi Zhishan watched it all but due to etiquette and morals, stayed a mere onlooker, never reaching out to help.”

”The girl eventually passed away in sorrow, calling out Qi Zhishan’s name eternally till her last breath, yet Qi Zhishan, for the family’s reputation, stood by the door without ever stepping in, until she was gone. Qi Zhishan then languished for a long time, his mentality unstable during cultivation, and meditated dead for seventeen years, almost becoming a cripple. Otherwise, seventeen years ago, he should have been as renowned as the Jade-faced Judge; seventeen years later, wouldn’t his skill be more formidable?”

Su Yang was dumbfounded; hearing this tale for the first time about Qi Zhishan, his heart was profoundly shaken. Who would have thought such a story lay behind this person?

”This is also why I’ve always despised Qi Zhishan!” Black Widow sneered, ”A man, yet bound by so-called traditional etiquette, watching his beloved die before him without daring to extend a hand, what kind of man is he!”
