47: Chapter 47 The Legend of the Blacksmith’s MasterAfter his first failed infiltration, Fu Hao reformulated his plan to enter the Dwarf Kingdom.

He decided to use the Mystery series items to disguise himself, but he would no longer impersonate a specific individual—even if he learned names and backgrounds by eavesdropping, he risked exposure if he encountered someone they knew.

If he wore an iron helmet to cover his face on top of the copied appearance, he might be able to avoid that danger.

He had assumed that simply being a dwarf would allow him to pass unimpeded, only to discover that the Dwarf Kingdom strictly screened even its own exiled kin.

Just as Fu Hao was considering whether to simply swim across the border, a group of dwarves appeared in the distance.

Judging by their appearance, they were likely herbalists.

When people think of dwarves, they always associate them with blacksmiths, but as an intelligent race with a similar social structure, they naturally have diverse professions such as herbalists and chefs.

The dwarf herbalists fanned out one by one to begin gathering herbs. Fu Hao set his sights on one of them, secretly followed behind, and while the dwarf was distracted, slipped two teleportation gems into a small pocket of the backpack left on the ground—the gems were tiny and completely unnoticeable.

After memorizing the features of the backpack, he quickly retreated back into the bushes.

”Phase one of the plan is a success.”

- ”Suddenly turning into a spy thriller.”

- ”Can’t you just swim across the border?”

”There are too many variables in crossing the river, so I’ll save that as a last resort. Let’s first see if the herbalist returns tomorrow.”

Although he wasn’t certain if the dwarf would return, Fu Hao trusted his intuition.

At the same time the next day, Fu Hao successfully retrieved the teleportation gems. He and Helm selected an inconspicuous, average-sized dwarf to replicate, and donned iron masks to conceal their faces.

Fu Hao asked in a hoarse voice, ”Mr. Helm, have you ever heard of the master of Calus, the chief blacksmith of the Dwarf Kingdom?”

”Hmm... I don’t recall. Let’s ask Hofer.”

Helm took Hofer out of his magic bag and inquired about the chief blacksmith of the Dwarf Kingdom.

After a brief pause, Hofer suddenly adopted a hoarse voice, imitating an ancient dwarven tone:

”Hahahaha, how can one forge such powerful weapons? It’s because of training under an excellent master! It’s the same for knights and blacksmiths alike—great teachers produce great students; that is the creed of us blacksmiths.”

”As for my master... you wouldn’t know him even if I told you. His name is Rahim, a very ordinary old man. Sigh, now I’ve become an old man myself, hehe.”

”After I left the Dwarf Kingdom twenty years ago, I never saw my master again. You didn’t know, did you? I’m actually a wanted criminal in the Dwarf Kingdom.”

”Playback of the conversation with Calus from two years ago.”

- ”Hofer’s performance is insane.”

- ”How on earth did Loki create Hofer?”

- ”It feels like it performs even better than the robots at my house.”

Helm put Hofer back into the magic bag, and Fu Hao followed up, ”Is Mr. Rahim still alive?”

”Dwarves live over 300 years. Unless he fell ill, he should still be alive.”

Fu Hao prayed silently; this master of the legendary blacksmith Calus had to be the top blacksmith in the Dwarf Kingdom.

The two used the teleportation gems to infiltrate the Dwarf Kingdom. As soon as they landed, a small child who had bumped into Fu Hao’s leg came into view.

”Waaah!”

Hearing the child’s wail, a dwarf mother who had been buying fruit at a nearby stall rushed over and gave the child two sharp smacks on the bottom. ”You child! Didn’t I tell you not to run around!”

”Mom, they just suddenly popped out!”

The mother bowed to Fu Hao and Helm in apology. ”Oh my, I am so sorry. My child doesn’t know any better.”

Fu Hao feigned composure. ”It’s fine, he’s just a child.”

”Mom, they really just went ’pop’ and appeared!”

”What is wrong with you today! Can’t you just behave?”

Fu Hao patted the child on the head to smooth things over. ”What a naughty little guy. You shouldn’t tease your mother.”

”You’re a liar, mister... Waaah!”

Seeing the child about to start wailing again, the mother covered his mouth and hurried away. As the child was dragged off, his little face was bright red.

The teleportation gem offered no way to preview the destination, so running into witnesses was inevitable. A detailed map would have helped, but such things were impossible to obtain in the human kingdoms. Fortunately, only one child had seen them; it was the best-case scenario under the circumstances.

Fu Hao began to carefully observe his surroundings.

”Hmm... is this a market?”

The stalls displayed fruits, meats, and other ingredients, along with various sundries, but it lacked the noisy clamor of a human market. The buildings were smaller, but their style resembled that of human cities, clearly reflecting techniques learned from humans during their period of enslavement.

He asked the nearest fruit vendor about Rahim. ”Hello. Could you tell me where I should go to find Mr. Rahim?”

Realizing that dwarven accents varied, Fu Hao stopped forcing his own. ”Mr. Rahim? He should be at his forge.” The vendor pointed toward the street corner. ”Just turn the corner; that’s Mr. Rahim’s forge right there.”

”Great, he’s still alive.” Fu Hao breathed a sigh of relief.

”Could you tell me the general location?”

The vendor eyed him strangely. ”What a weird guy. Just turn the corner; that’s Mr. Rahim’s forge.”

Fu Hao was ecstatic—the Teleportation had landed them right near Rahim’s workshop.

[ ”Class” tipped 50 yuan. — — (I got played yesterday, and I’m going to get scammed again today, hahaha.) ]

[ ”Little Pineapple” tipped 50 yuan. — — (Ah, it would be hilarious if they got caught and exiled.) ]

After bowing to the vendor, Fu Hao turned the corner, and a massive forge came into view. Perhaps it wasn’t working hours yet, as the workshop was quiet and deserted.

”Is Mr. Rahim here~!”

There was no response.

”Mr. Rahim~!”

This time, a dwarf emerged from the back—he was clearly drunk, his nose bright red, and he held a bottle of liquor, hiccuping as he spoke. ”Who, who’s looking for me? *Hic!*”

He was a hopeless drunkard through and through.

”Are you Mr. Rahim?”

”I, I am Rahim. *Hic!*”

The further the conversation went, the more he sounded like a drunkard. Fu Hao brought up Calus. ”You once took on a disciple named Calus, didn’t you?”

In an instant, Rahim’s drunkenness vanished, and he roared, ”How dare you mention that bastard’s name in front of me!”

He pulled out a massive hammer and swung it at Fu Hao and Helm.

”Ah! What are you doing!”

”What am I doing? Don’t you know...”

To avoid Rahim’s hammer, Fu Hao ran outside the forge, but Helm stepped forward and blocked the hammer with his bare hands.

”Master! Please calm down!”

”Who are you? How dare you call me Master?”

Feeling Helm’s strength, Rahim calmed down and asked in a steady tone.

”If you are Calus’s master, then to me, you are like my own master. Calus is my friend.”

”You say you’re that guy’s friend? You brat, how dare you spout such nonsense...!”

Seeing that communication was ineffective, Helm looked at Fu Hao—he wanted to dispel the disguise and reveal his true face.

Fu Hao hesitated for a long time before finally agreeing. Once news of ”humans disguising themselves as dwarves” spread, it would become nearly impossible to enter the Dwarf Kingdom again. However, Helm had helped him many times, and even if only for future utility, he needed to maintain a good relationship.

He nodded in signal, and Helm dispelled the triple disguise effect.

”Ah! Humans!”

Rahim sobered up instantly, shocked to the point of plopping onto the floor.

Rahim had lived in the Dwarf Kingdom his entire life; this was his first time ever facing a human directly.

Helm bowed in a knightly manner. ”Allow me to formally introduce myself. I am a friend of Calus, the Legendary Knight Helm.”
