40: Chapter 40 One Hit, One Kill (Boss)The Seven Legends

Among the peerless heroes who rose to prominence during the Human-Demon War, he was undoubtedly one of the most remarkable existences.

These individuals were known as The Seven Legends and were the pinnacle existences in the game world. For ordinary players, they were not only out of reach, but even seeing them in person was like a fantasy, let alone having any interaction with them.

As the first player in the entire server to obtain the title of Viscount, Fu Hao already stood proudly above the masses in terms of status, but before a legend, there was no essential difference between a Viscount and a commoner.

However, among The Seven Legends, there was one person who never judged people by their status—that was the Legendary Knight Helm. He neither pledged allegiance to any kingdom nor founded his own faction; instead, for decades, he had quietly guarded the outskirts of the Rowen Kingdom capital, only accepting disciples who truly possessed the qualifications.

In fact, Fu Hao originally chose the Rowen Kingdom as his starting location precisely to contact Helm. Before he started streaming, his original plan was to pass the Helm’s Trial quest, become an apprentice, and obtain a hidden Knight-class profession. However, since he accidentally changed his profession to ”Enhancement Master,” he was now caught in a dilemma: should he continue on the path of enhancement, or return to his original intention and become a disciple of the legend?

Helm’s Trial quest had a level restriction for players—a cap of level 100. This was one of the reasons why Fu Hao had lingered at level 100 after reaching the level cap. Now that his territory urgently needed powerful combat strength to hold the fort, he could no longer delay it any further.

”Clear it first, then we’ll see.”

Fu Hao made up his mind. Regardless of whether he successfully changed his profession in the end, he had to complete the trial first. Perhaps this seemingly impossible challenge was merely a small test of his skills.

—

The next morning, Fu Hao used a teleportation gem to arrive at Helm’s residence on the outskirts of the Rowen Kingdom capital. Standing beside the residence was a stone tower that pierced the clouds; that was the trial space set up by Helm. Because no one had cleared it for two years, the area around the tower was deserted and appeared exceptionally quiet.

He walked up to the NPC in front of the tower and accepted the quest:

Difficulty: Immeasurable

The Legendary Knight Helm set up seven gates of trial to screen for disciples; only those who break through all the gates can be recognized by him.

Clear Condition

Break through all gates of trial

Rewards

Qualification as a disciple of Helm

Title ”Person Recognized by the Legend”

Skill ”Weakness Attack”

Failure Penalty

Helm’s favorability reduced to ”Ignore”

Permanently banned from challenging this quest again

Fu Hao was already familiar with the quest content, but he still displayed the quest interface in detail during the live stream—this was not an ordinary dungeon, but an extremely rigorous challenge. Its regional restrictions and high-difficulty settings meant that most of the audience were encountering it for the first time.

The barrage of comments flooded in:

”Another one of those ’Immeasurable’ quests?”

”Helm is actually one of The Seven Legends?”

”Is this some kind of dungeon-like trial?”

”You can’t try again if you fail? That’s too harsh.”

After the viewers understood the content, Fu Hao officially accepted the quest.

[Accepted ”Helm’s Trial” quest]

[The First Gate has opened]

As the quest acceptance notification rang out, the tightly closed tower gate slowly opened, and at the same time, a new notification message appeared:

[Destroy the Rock]

[Time Limit: 2 minutes]

[Combat skills are prohibited during the trial]

The core of the first trial lay in ”pure power output”—shattering a high-durability rock within two minutes without being able to use any skills. This was a method Helm used to screen out ”bloated players”: although their levels were the same, if they hadn’t accumulated enough stats, equipment, and title foundations during their growth process, it would be difficult to pass.

Although Fu Hao’s foundation wasn’t top-tier, he possessed a trump card—a sharp weapon that already had the performance of a level 130 weapon before it had even fully grown: the troll sword (+10). A week ago, during an off-stream session, he successfully enhanced it to +10 using the ”Fates Luck” skill, and its stats were so monstrous they could be called absurd.

The barrage exploded:

”Aren’t you starting yet?”

”Brother Hao, stop stalling, hurry up and attack.”

Facing the urging of the viewers, Fu Hao remained unhurried, his tone relaxed:

”Don’t be impatient, everyone. I’ve always liked to take things slowly. Before we start, let me show you guys something good.”

He calmly pulled up the information panel of the troll sword and showed it on the live stream screen in a leisurely manner; the slow pace formed a sharp contrast with the impatient audience in the live stream room.

When an attack lands, there is a 0.1% chance to trigger a 10-hit combo.

Description: This sword was originally used by a troll; because its user had low intelligence, its full potential has yet to be unleashed.

”???” ×999

”What kind of heaven-defying stats are these?”

”I’m so jealous.”

The barrage triggered a delay due to overheating, and the whole screen was filled with shock—the panel stats of this sword far exceeded all sword-type weapons in the top ten, and even its growth potential was flawless. Even if it never grew, it would be enough to rank among the strongest weapons.

”Do you know how much blood and tears I went through to reroll these five stats? I want to cry just thinking about it.”

Although an Enhancement Master can infinitely reroll stats via the skill , the probability of getting top-tier options for all five stats simultaneously is as difficult as ascending to heaven.

A +10 weapon is already rare, yet Fu Hao was able to create a second one in a short period. This also caused the doubts about his identity as an Enhancement Master in the live stream room to rise again.

”I am an Enhancement Master, after all. My class skills have a bonus for +10, just understand it that way.”

He lightly brushed off the request to reveal details about his skills, then raised his sword and slashed violently at the rock.

[Critical Hit!]

[Dealt 705,704 damage to the target]

[Target has been defeated]

The rock shattered instantly, not even lasting 10 seconds.

[First Gate cleared]

[Second Gate opened]

”Holy crap... uh, next level.”

Even Fu Hao himself was stunned for a moment, not expecting it to shatter in one hit.

”???” ×999

”Cleared in one hit?”

”Brother Hao, are you using a god-mode cheat?”

”700,000 damage from a basic attack?”

The viewers witnessed a combat style more exaggerated than an ”invincible combo”: one sword, that’s all it takes.

—One hit.

One hit.

Still one hit.

From the first gate to the sixth gate, Fu Hao relied on brute force output to one-shot everything. Finally, he arrived at the last level.

But in this level, the situation was completely different from the first six levels—he encountered resistance for the first time.

The final boss was named ”Knight Doll”.

[Critical Hit!]

[Dealt 1,356,355 damage to the target]

However, this hit still couldn’t shake the doll in the slightest. 3 seconds later, the doll’s HP instantly refilled.

”The healing is too fast!”

”Is this an immortal boss?”

”Stop hacking, find a guide!”

”Even Leonhardt would have a hard time fighting this, this...”

Even with the attack power buff fully stacked, he still couldn’t suppress its healing speed. The only way out was to finish the output before it recovered, but the doll’s movement trajectory had no pattern, making it extremely difficult to hit.

This was the first time he truly experienced the so-called ”qualification barrier”—there were no reference videos for this level; no one had ever done it before, and no one had cleared it.

”How do I break this? If only my attack speed and movement speed were a little faster...”

Because the quest could not be retried after failure, Fu Hao’s heart was already tense. He pinned his last hope on the ultimate effect of the troll sword—that 0.1% ”10-hit combo”.

[Remaining time: 30 seconds]

”30 seconds, it’s over.”

”Is the system intentionally stalling you?”

”Good effort, it’s indeed hard.”

Time ticked away second by second, and the viewers were all preparing to accept failure, only Fu Hao’s gaze was like a torch:

”Trigger already... it’s your turn to trigger now!”

[Remaining time: 10 seconds...]

[9 seconds...]

[8 seconds...]

”People often say failure is the mother of success... but if there isn’t even a chance to try again, then failure is just failure.”

Gritting his teeth, he was unwilling to admit defeat, and even less willing to become a stepping stone for someone else’s success. He had already suffered enough on his first character; this time, he would absolutely not allow failure.

At the final moment, he decisively activated ”Fates Luck”, forcibly pulling the 0.1% probability to 100%.

[Remaining time: 2 seconds...]

[1 second...]

”Break for me—!!!”

Hum—!

The troll sword stabbed directly into the doll’s core, accompanied by a low roar, and the 10-hit combo erupted instantly, pouring down like a thunderstorm:

[Critical Hit!]

[Triggered troll sword effect: 10-hit combo]

[Dealt 1,413,568 damage ×10]

The doll’s movements froze, then it collapsed with a boom, turning into fragments. Fu Hao collapsed to the ground in exhaustion, and a series of clear notifications popped up before his eyes:

[One-hit kill when BOSS monster level is higher than character level]

[Obtained title ”One Hit One [BOSS Monster]”]

[All gates broken through]

[”Helm’s Trial” quest cleared]
