Chapter 730: The Throne Hall

The Throne Hall

Footfalls echoing, Leon moved ahead with his wives behind him into the palace’s vast doorway. Air thickened fast.

Under sunlight, warmth filled the palace gardens beyond its walls. Open spaces stretched where morning light touched everything gently.

Inside - the air felt different.

Heavier.

Older.

Heavy air filled the rooms, not just from thick stone or high ceilings, yet carried by time - by choices made, truths hidden, lives shaped within these corridors long before Leon arrived.

A ribbon of thick cloth unrolled ahead, colored dark red and threaded through with gold designs that curled in on themselves. Light fell from the hanging lamps overhead, making the fibers catch brightness in soft pulses - like tiny fires breathing low under the surface.

Each step barely made a sound on the surface. Quiet thuds followed one after another across the floor.

Measured.

Beyond the entrance, space stretched far inside, bordered by tall columns carved from dark gleaming rock - each one climbing upward, steady and hushed beneath the vaulted roof.

Carved into every column, shapes rose like whispers through stone. Snakes climbed alongside blossoms, their bodies looping in slow twists, while tiny ridges on each scale caught the light just enough to flicker. Petals curled as if breathing, shaped with such care they seemed to tremble when shadows passed across them.

Bronze lamps rose between the columns, fire glowing without flicker. Even when a whisper of wind slipped down the hall, the light held firm - like the walls were keeping it safe.

High above, heavy chandeliers made of crystal and gold dangled from the ceiling. Light bounced through clusters of small bulbs, casting broken glimmers onto the smooth stone below.

A trace of blossom hung, soft, near the window. Quiet. Almost gone.

Jasmine.

Orchid.

Beneath everything, just a whisper of rose lingers.

A hint of scent lingered - soft, yet impossible to ignore.

A person inside the royal residence definitely cared deeply about what they were supposed to do.

Shiny floors reflected the glow of freshly cleaned lamps. Quiet care hung in the air, tucked into corners by steady hands. Each hallway wore a scent placed there on purpose. Everything gleamed - worked over until flawless. Perfection stayed low and silent across the space.

A quiet care showed in every corner. Each detail stayed noticed, never left behind.

Everything sat exactly where it should. A quiet stillness held the room together.

Footsteps echoed down the hall when Leon moved ahead with the women. Guards posted by the palace walls snapped to attention without delay.

Clanging rang out as the armor plates slid. Metal groaned when it moved.

Floor met spear tips in steady beat after beat.

Each soldier stood taller, then lowered their head in turn.

”Greeting His Majesty!”

The unified voices echoed through the corridor.

Leon did not slow his stride.

His steps remained calm and steady as he passed them, the long coat behind him swaying slightly with each movement.

But he gave a small nod in acknowledgment.

It was simple.

Quiet.

Yet it carried enough authority that every soldier along the hall stiffened even further with respect.

Behind him, his wives followed closely.

Each of them carried themselves with the same composed grace expected within royal walls.

One of them offered a polite nod toward the guards.

Another gave a faint smile.

A third lifted her chin slightly, acknowledging the greeting with calm dignity.

Their gestures were subtle but respectful, returning the soldiers’ loyalty without unnecessary arrogance.

Still...

Despite their poised posture...

The women could not completely hide the curiosity flickering in their eyes.

One of them leaned slightly closer to another as they walked.

Her voice dropped to a soft whisper.

”...This place is even larger than I imagined.”

A voice came soft, eyes lifting toward the high stone columns.

”And older.”

A third woman let her eyes wander past the chandeliers, then trace the curves of old stone carvings - after that, soft words slipped out, tinged with quiet amazement

”The craftsmanship alone must have taken decades.”

Faint murmurs slipped through the air - just loud enough for Leon to catch every word, though the guards remained unaware.

His eyes stayed forward.

A slight smile, barely there, tugged at one edge of his mouth - quiet, knowing.

Stone walls rose high under a roof of slate. A quiet hush hung beyond the tall iron gates.

Even so, it stood clear beyond question.

But for Leon...

This place had stopped being a sight you just look at from a distance.

It was his.

Even so, with calm faces, the women still let slip a hint of wonder.

Something hung there, noticeable when their gazes drifted, just barely off track. A pause crept into their walking, almost unspoken. Then those soft looks passed between them, small but clear.

Footsteps echoed where few had ever roamed inside Nagarath’s palace. Most stepped into its core for the very first moment.

Underfoot, the polished marble caught whispers of light from hanging chandeliers. History hummed through the air as if the hall remembered every step taken here. Along the walls and columns, detailed carvings twisted gently when seen from different angles. The glow above shifted just enough to make shapes flicker like distant thoughts.

Faint light caught the edge of Aria’s face when she lifted her gaze toward the hanging lamps. Her eyes - deep violet, sharp with curiosity - reflected small sparks from above.

”The lighting design is clever,” she murmured quietly, almost to herself. ”It spreads the brightness without creating harsh shadows.”

Fascination showed in her eyes as she looked at the crystal layers. Carefully, each layer got her full attention.

Fingers barely touching, Cynthia followed close, brushing a pillar’s edge. The carvings held her eyes, pulling them along each groove.

”The craftsmanship is remarkable,” she said thoughtfully. ”Look closely. Each pattern is different. None of them repeat.”

Aria glanced over. ”You’re right... I didn’t notice that.”

”It means each pillar was carved individually,” Cynthia added. ”Whoever designed this place valued detail.”

Just ahead, Syra moved near Kyra, dropping her voice like she was passing along something risky.

”If Leon says he designed this place too,” she whispered, ”I’m going to start suspecting he secretly built the entire kingdom himself.”

Her hands flew up, fingers pressed tight against lips trying not to giggle.

”Don’t give him ideas,” she said softly. ”His ego might actually start believing it.”

Few steps on, Leon caught each syllable clear.

A small grin played near his mouth as he looked over his shoulder toward them.

”You’re all very critical today.”

Fingers tucked under her elbows, Nova moved step by step next to him, quiet in her stance.

She adjusted softly, voice steady: ”We watch.”.

A glance moved along the hallway, pausing without sound at each small thing.

Leon chuckled quietly.

”Ah. Of course.”
