Chapter 224: Sona and Leon Secret Escape [Part-2]

Sona and Leon Secret Escape [Part-2]

”Leon,” she gasped once more, eyes darting nervously toward the guards just a few steps away. ”Stop. We can’t—”

”I know,” he whispered, voice low and even. ”Not yet.”

Their silence was a compact.

It wasn’t until the guards rolled their weight, turning ever so slightly away, that he moved—moving through the archway as a moon shadow. Not a single sound gave away their escape.

Sona held him fast, her heart racing fiercely, torn between terror and exhilaration at the stolen instant.

The hallway stretched out in dimness, illuminated only by moonlight that filtered through high-stained-glass windows and cast broken colors on chill stone. With no hesitation, the Duke led her quickly into a tight alleyway, where ivy crawled up stone walls and ancient tapestries stretched motionless like silent keepers of centuries of secrets.

Step by step, they pushed on.

Under a frescoed archway, where moonlight reflected off the marble had it shimmering like spun silver, they paused. The painting above showed an eternal love, its mythic figures caught in a forever embrace that seemed to sanction their forbidden love.

It was there that his lips found hers again.

This time the kiss was slow and deliberate—an exploration instead of a rush. His fingers touched her jaw gently, cupping her face with hushed reverence. The heat of her skin, the tremble of her lips—every thing he had only dared to dream of lay now real under his fingertips.

Sona tilted her head, fingers curling around the lapel of his coat. Her tongue traced the edge of his bottom lip, coaxing his kiss to deepen, their hearts syncing in a gentle rhythm as a soft moan escaped her throat—a sound so fragile, yet charged with desire.

When he finally pulled back, his voice was a murmur close to her ear. ”We’re not safe—yet this moment is ours alone.”

Her answer was a whispered breath against his chest; a secret shared only with the shadows, but raging wildly in her heart.

They proceeded again, twisting along cobble stone pathway, every echoing step a risk and a thrill. The central palace slept, but the walls maintained their vigilant silence. Shadows long and deep extended.

The slipped. Invisible. Indestructible. As one.

Leon’s hand didn’t leave her ass, neither did he release his grip around her waist. He tweaked his grip slightly to allow her to lift slightly, moving her thigh upward to balance her against his side. The lavender silk of her gown breathed softly with every movement, a whispered language between the two of them. Step by cautious step, they edged nearer to the queen’s private wing.

In front, there was another squad of guards standing watch and discuss their own business. Instead of withdrawing into cover, Leon dissolved into cover, drifting his feet over a loose rock with expert quietness. His heart eased, not due to fear but acute concentration. Sona’s fingers shuddered lightly against his shoulder.

He wrapped his arms more tightly about her, kissing her just behind the ear. ”Have faith in me.”

She breathed out, shuddering breath. ”Always.”

They slipped past the guard’s post, bodies pressed close against the cold wall, concealed within the tapestry’s folds. Their presence was nearly invisible—yet Sona felt the weight of the guard’s gaze, skimming past like a wary predator, never fully convinced.

Once the guard moved onward, they shared a silent breath of relief.

Leon pulled her forward. ”Almost there.”

She nodded, voice soft and teasing, ”You’re insufferable.”

He allowed his slow smile to curve his lips. ”Only if you desist distracting me.”

Her laughter was a delicate one, shaking but filled with heat—buddies of thieves bound in secrecy. ”Where is your chamber?”

”North wing. Through the gallery... close to the Empress Fountain,” she whispered. ”There is a secret passage just beyond the maiden’s hall.”

Leon nodded briefly, moving her weight slightly to remain balanced. Her thighs nestled once more into the spaces between his hips as she clasped his neck, the heat of their secret kiss still burning on her lips.

A muffled echo broke the silence—boots striking stone.

Leon had ducked behind a massive marble pillar just when two guards walked across the top walkway. He clamped her against him, her chilly back against the marble, his hand remaining constantly on her thigh.

There was a gasping whisper. ”We might be seen.”

His eyes caught hers. ”Then don’t tempt fate.”

And with that, he kissed her once more—longer, more desperate.

Sona moaned softly against his lips, holding his coat as his tongue followed hers, drawing a gasp from the depths of her. The risk only intensified every feeling. Her legs shook, hips shifting subtly against his tight hold.

She pulled away with struggle, her breathing heaving. ”Leon... please...”

His lips moved slowly down her neck, pausing just below her ear. ”Please what?”

”We must make it to the room. or with each of these kisses like this, by the saints, we won’t arrive,” she breathed angrily.

Leon laughed, a low, taunting sound. ”You threaten that like you mean it, but you sound like you’re pleased.”

She attempted to suppress the smile trying to escape. ”You’re detestable.”

”Only when I’m around you.”

He sped up. The maze of silent halls and darkened corridors seemed to curve smoothly under his feet, as if he were made to walk through the palace secrets. They twice ducked behind heavy drapes, and once, they took cover in a laundry room where gowns hung motionless, swaying softly like specters trapped in a wind.

At every thieved moment, his mouth found hers again.

They pushed against chill steel of a suit of armor, hidden behind a pillar of white marble, and in the shallow recess of a corridor, where her gentle whimpering blended with quiet. His hand slipped up under her dress, fingers caressing along the shape of her thigh. She clamped down on his bottom lip, gasping into the hot kiss.

”Leon,” she panted, her voice shaking with a blend of warning and need. ”We’ll get caught. if you continue to do this.”

A wicked smile curled his mouth. ”You say that. but you don’t tell me to stop.”

Sona’s cheeks went bright pink, her eyes flashing with mock censure. ”You’re awfully good at sneaking about with women.”

He laughed softly, his voice low and intimate. ”Only you. Always only you.”

Her breathing caught at the words.

They turned another corner, the environment becoming even more familiar. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of fresh rose oil wafting from adjacent chambers, blending with the cool moonlight streaming in through an arched window looking out over the courtyard below.

Stepping into a small laundry corridor, where white linens swung softly, faintly scented with lavender and time, Sona rested her head against the curve of his shoulder. He touched a soft caress of a kiss upon her temple, warm and long-lasting.

”Do you always sneak in through secret passages?” she taunted softly, her voice a singing whisper.

”Only if it brings me to you,” he said, his voice as silky as silk.

Their lips met once more—this time with fierce hunger, pressed and demanding beyond what caution allowed. A soft, stifled moan escaped her, a sound that ignited his every nerve. Her legs curled tightly around his waist, anchoring him to her.

”Leon,” she murmured against his mouth, ”we haven’t even reached my chamber yet.”

A low chuckle rumbled through him. ”Not quite.”

Her heart closed over his words, aching with anticipation and restraint.

She moved into the kiss, deep and slow, each motion saying more than words could. Her tongue followed his with tender curiosity, her fingers combed through his hair as she poured the well of her desire into their link.

”Gods,” she breathed. ”If it’s a dream, please don’t wake me.”

”It’s real,” he promised her, picking her up easily, ”and I have no They reached the doorway—the hall to her personal wing.

But standing in the way was a young maid, singing a gentle tune as she bore folded towels.

Leon came to a stop, pinned to the wall, his heart pounding. Sona clung to him, breath held. A single glance from the maid might destroy all.

The maid moved her basket—and a towel fell to the floor.”.

She grumbled in annoyance, stooping to retrieve it.

They moved soundlessly into a small laundry hallway. Linens were stacked in rows on racks, lightly scented with lavender. Sona leaned her head against his chest. Leon lightly kissed her temple.

”Do you always creep in like this?” she whispered, voice playful.

”Only when I’m coming to find you,” he said, voice deep and velvety.

Their lips clashed again—hot and ravenous. She moaned low, legs clenching tighter around his waist.

”Leon,” she panted, ”we haven’t even made it to my chamber.”

He laughed against her lips. ”Not yet.”

He darted a step behind a column just as she turned her head.

Her fingers curled into his shoulder. ”That was too close.”

His warm breath caressed her ear. ”We have luck on our side tonight.”

They crept ahead. Cherub statues and mythical creatures flanked the hall like silent sentinels.

A guard’s voice carried in the distance. Leon pushed them back against a statue. Sona’s heart pounded. ”Should we turn back?” she whispered.

Instead, he kissed her again.

Distracting a heart with kisses was irresponsible—entire marriages had collapsed for less.

She gave way, leaning into him. As he angled her head, his mouth brushed the hollow of her throat. She went rigid, then shivered with desire.

The guard’s boots drew closer. The ring of armor sounded behind them. Sona’s heartbeat pounded through Leon’s thigh.

His grip on her waist tightened. ”Almost there. Hang on.”

She nodded, torn between terror and exhilaration.

Finally, they arrived at her private corridor.

The door was plain—rosewood carved with a black iron handle. No watch, no eyes.

Leon slowed, his eyes locking onto hers.

”You made it,” she panted.

His golden eyes never wavered. ”Always.”

He kissed her slowly, deeply—one final vow before the world slid away behind the door.

He pushed the door open slowly and walked inside.

At last, they were alone.

The door closed silently behind them.

Before them: silk sheets, gentle moonlight, and night taken back.

She slid out of his grasp, legs trembling. Outside was fire—stolen caresses, desperate kisses, the smell of him. In here, she was vulnerable.

Leon steadied her waist. ”You okay?”

She breathed out, quivering. ”Yes. Just dizzy.”

He pushed back her hair, thumb tracing her cheek. ”Good. Tonight is yours.”

She leaned into his palm, tears pricking—relief and awe.

They stepped all the way in.

Velvet drapes swirled around them. A gilded mirror reflected their images—silenced witnesses.

Leon lit a candle. The warm glow made her skin radiant, dangerously beautiful.

They paused—no words, only soft breaths and flickering light.

He lifted her again, holding her close as they moved to the room’s center. Her legs curled around him, breath mingling.

His finger traced her cheek. ”You’re breathtaking.”

She laughed softly, nervous and full of joy. ”A fool’s goddess, shelter to a duke.”

He smiled low. ”Yes, and yes.”

Their lips touched again—soft, lingering, a promise without words.

The world could fall apart tomorrow, but this night—they were eternal.

He placed her next to the bed, wine poised on silver.

She observed him hanging up his coat, pounding heart waiting for what would ensue.

His eyes smoldered with hunger and awe.

He grasped her hand.

”Shall we begin?”

He bridged the space.

This kiss wasn’t hurried.

It was the beginning of forever.
