Chapter 222: The Moment, She Became His

The Moment, She Became His

Sona’s breath shook as their lips slowly separated, but Leon didn’t back away. Forehead pressing softly against hers, golden eyes heavy with a closeness that pierced her heart, he didn’t move. His hand still cupped the side of her neck, as if letting her go would break the delicate moment they’d found.

Moonlight glimmered tenderly on her tear-stained cheeks, her eyelashes fluttering as she fought to breathe. Her lips were bruised from the kiss, her chest expanding and falling against his with each ragged breath shuddering with unexpressed emotion.

Neither of them moved—words seemed too thin, too insubstantial to contain the whirlpool of feeling between them.

Sona was the first to speak.

Her lips were still buzzing from their kiss—soft, gentle, unforgettable—and her heart would not calm down. The silence between them was not awkward... it was loaded. Thick with everything left unsaid, but comprehended.

She swallowed, her voice a mere whisper—airy, uncertain, like she herself could not believe what had occurred.

”Leon... that... that was...” Her eyes danced down, a blush rising to her lips, delicate but authentic. ”That was amazing. I have not been kissed like that in... in years.”

A tiny, gasping laugh burst from her throat, tinged with incredulity and awe. ”In fact... I believe that could’ve been my first real kiss in a very, very long time.”

She looked up at him through her eyelashes, her smile growing a little goofy, a little tender as she finished ”I... I loved it. Maybe more than I should say.... or even say at all.”

Leon’s golden eyes relaxed. His thumb drifted down the curve of her cheek, as if he were committing every inch of her face—every flush, every flutter—to memory.

”I’m glad you liked it,” he whispered, his voice as soft as velvet. ”Because I meant every moment of it.”

Sona’s smile quivered, her eyes brimming as she pressed just a little closer to his hand.

Then, in a breath hardly louder than the breeze, she breathed, ”Leon... don’t leave me now.”

Her words weren’t desperate—honest. Raw. A muffled plea creeping through the cracks of a heart that was too long denied warmth.

Leon’s face didn’t waver. His smile grew deeper, gentle and certain.

He bends in closer, their foreheads almost touching now each other, his breath together with hers under the night sky.

”I’m not leaving, Sona,” he whispered, calm and full of promise. ”I don’t want one night with you. I’ve waited too long for this—for you. I want to stay... as long as you’ll have me.”

Her eyes went wide, and a fierce, aching hope crumbled open in her—something new, something lovely. Not pain this time.

”Leon...” she panted, voice husky, eyes clouding again. She wanted to say more, to explain all that was in her heart, but the words slid away under the pressure of the moment.

Before she was able to speak, he moved with unhurried, almost reverent conviction. An arm went around her waist, drawing her gently onto his lap. She breathed softly, her arms naturally wrapping about his neck as her body relaxed against him, legs parting to straddle. Her silk skirts cascaded around them like petals unfolding to a soft breeze.

The heat between them burst instantly—passionate and undeniable.

His hands were placed firmly at the base of her back and waist, holding her upright, anchoring her like a lifeline.

”Let me show you,” he whispered, touching his lips to hers again.

This kiss was deeper—yearning and starving from all the lost years they’d both spent. His lips caressed hers slowly, purposefully, until their tongues touched in a yearning, desperate dance. Their breaths intertwined raggedly, a knot of need and gentleness.

A gentle moan escaped her mouth as she shuddered, fingers interweaving in his midnight-dark hair. Her hips moved involuntarily, pressing against his in wordless entreaty. Each nerve was alive, each touch igniting fire under her skin.

Her breast pushed against him, warm and yielding beneath the folds of lace and silk that cinched her waist. His arms clutched, as if he feared to lose her, pulling her as close as he could manage.

Then his hand started to explore.

Slowly, with reverence, it crept up her flank, fingers mapping the fragile contours under the cloth. His hand drifted to her breast—full and yielding, still concealed under lace and silk. His fingers were light, exploratory, as if committing each shape to memory.

Her breath caught suddenly as his thumb stroked the peaked tip under the gown, delivering a burst of warmth coursing through every inch of her.

Her lips parted on a sharp gasp pressed against his, hips arching in a purely instinctive response.

”Ahh...” she moaned, half swallowed between his ravenous kisses.

Leon’s low growl resonated against her mouth, a sound of deep, contained hunger. His fingers squeezed playfully, possessively, sending fire to every inch of her.

Her body jerked under his caress. She tore her lips from his with a shuddering gasp, her back arcing, eyes flying open as a little, breathless cry left her.

”Leon...”

He pulled gently on the back of her hair, bringing her closer. Her whole self responded—heart racing wildly, breath uneven, the long-repressed tension at last released in that burning hold.

Her fingers knotted deeper into his hair, clutching at the moment as fire licked beneath her skin. Every touch of his lips took her breath away again, drawing her further into a mindless whirlpool of sensation.

Her own warm breast laid hard against his, the juxtaposition of yielding flesh and binding corset striking against his firm grasp. One arm stayed crossed tightly around her back, holding her fast. The other went on its deliberate, slow probing—moving lower over smooth waist and then back upward.

His palm encircled her breast again, fingers shaping gently, thumb caressing the stiffened peak as she gasped softly against his mouth. Her lips shook with vulnerability, taken aback by how badly she wanted him.

”Ahh—” she moaned, trapped between shock and desire, hips curving forward as if to pull him in.

Leon’s eyes darkened with fierce adoration, and he whispered against her lips, ”You’re mine tonight, Sona. And for every night after.”

Her heart thundered in response, a fierce, joyous surrender to the man who held her—not as a queen or symbol, but as the woman she truly was.

Leon stayed a moment longer, his lips twitching into a soft smile. ”That sound.” he growled against her mouth, voice low and husky, ”Don’t deny it to me. Let me hear how much you want this.” His words descended into a kiss, deepening into raw hunger.

His tongue met hers, twining, as his hand crept slowly—massaging her breast through the sheer material, just a gentle pressure to make her arch toward him.

A soft whimper left Sona’s throat, half pleasure and half incredulity pouring over her senses. Unbelievable—that he was really touching her, loving her like this with such raw tenderness. Shivers traveled down her body at his touch.

Lifting their kiss, she gasped once more, her back arching, eyes fluttering open as a breathy cry left her lips. ”Ahh—Leon.

She whispered his name through trembling kisses, voice weak and filled with longing. Her hand rested against his chest—not to repel him, but to anchor herself to the maelstrom of feeling.

He held her eyes, breathing hard, eyes darkened by concern and hot need.

”Are you okay?” he whispered, his voice gruff with hunger. ”Did I do too much?”

Her cheeks burned as she fought to calm her breath.

”I’m okay,” she whispered, shivering. ”I just... wasn’t ready for this to feel like this.” Her lips were puffy and flushed from their kiss, quivering with the intensity of the moment. ”No, you didn’t push me too far,” she admitted softly. ”I want this. I want you.”

A warm, intimate laugh escaped him. He leaned in closer, touching a soft kiss to the corner of her mouth.

You’ve been untouched for far too long,” he murmured, his lips tracing along her cheek, her jaw, his lips skimming across her ear. ”You have no need to fear my touch. Let me teach you what it is to be desired. cherished.

Her breath caught, a faint whimper escaping as his words wrapped around her in a velvet promise, softening her defenses. His fingers wandered with gentle precision—stroking, kneading—when her hands sought to rest lightly against his chest.

Her eyes wavered, soft but firm, a spark of something fierce re-ignited that hadn’t burned in years.

Taking a deepening breath, she spoke softly, with growing courage, ”Just... not here.”

Her voice wavered on the last word, a delicate blend of nerves and longing. Though her legs remained entwined with his and her lips still glistened from their kiss, she held herself with unyielding grace—a queen even in vulnerability.

Leon’s lips curled into a knowing smile, quiet amusement gleaming in his eyes.

”You haven’t changed,” he said, low and teasing. ”Always so proper... even when you’re burning from within.”

She gave him a stricken look, biting her lip in mock annoyance. ”Stop it, fool. Don’t tease me.”

”I’m not teasing you,” he whispered, his golden eyes smoldering with inner flames. ”I’m just enjoying a moment I never thought would arrive.”

A wicked, sensual smile twisted on his lips. She blushed, her cheeks heating under his scrutiny, but she did not refute the accuracy of his words.

Steering closer, Leon’s lips graze the shell of her ear, low and husky. ”Then, Your Majesty, lead on...”

His golden eyes sparkled with promise unspoken as he planted a soft kiss on her cheek. ”So... would you like to go to my room, or yours?”

She hesitated, cheeks burning deeper, and then shook her head gently. ”No. Your palace is in the outer district. We’re in the palace center—too unsafe to stray out there now. Go to my room here. It’s safer.”

He grinned, that slow, teasing curve of his mouth at the corner. ”Would you prefer to walk, or shall I carry you like the queen that you are?”

Rolling her eyes but unable to suppress the blush, she half-heartedly protested, ”You wouldn’t dare.”

”Oh, I positively would—especially when you say no.” He sounded playfully challenging, with a certainty that was impossible to resist.

She turned her face to him with a half-smiling frown and said again, ”You wouldn’t dare.”

Before she could move, he picked her up with ease. His arms went around her—one supporting her knees, the other firm behind her back—lifting her off the bench as if she weighed nothing.

”Leon!” she exclaimed, surprised, automatically wrapping her arms around his neck. Her form fit against his, her chest pressed against his, her thighs wrapped tightly around his waist as he shifted her gently for comfort.

Her hand lay lightly against the back of his neck, fingers drawing light patterns, while his tight hold cradled the roundness of her yielding, springy hips.

Smiling, he walked purposefully down toward the garden gate, keeping her in his arms. Her legs held on more tightly, and each breath they drew seemed to fall into step—her pounding heartbeat against his chest in a constant, common rhythm.

”Someone could see us!” she breathed, a blend of scandal and excitement in her tone.

”They won’t,” he told her, low-voiced but unshakeable, moving toward an unseen exit shrouded in darkness. ”Tonight, nothing will deter us. I swear it.”

Glowing softly around them was the garden, as his spirit aura began to stir—a fragile golden haze leaving their course unseen under the moonlight.

Craddled against his chest, their bodies touching in the chill of the night air, she felt something she had never dared to feel before—wanted.

Not as a duty-bound queen or as an icon to be gazed at from afar.

But as a woman, loved and true.

And in Leon’s arms, enveloped in the still magic of the night, her breath was merged with his in soft, whispered kisses.

For the very first time... she belonged.

With that, he disappeared into the gardens of the palace, embracing his queen—her heart beating rapidly with each step into the night they had always imagined.
