Chapter 211: The True Banquet Begins

The True Banquet Begins

”Now the ceremony is complete...”

The voice of the announcer swelled like a drumbeat under the stars.

”LET THE ROYAL BANQUET BEGIN!”

The lanterns flared at the same time, scattering bursts of golden light over the courtyard like a firefly shower.

Music erupted—strings plucked in sharp rhythm, flutes sang like flying birds, and drums rolled like thunder in the distance.

In a heartbeat, the formerly quiet courtyard erupted with life. Nobles applauded in waves of rising sound. Gowns twirled in glittering arcs. Goblets thrust toward the heavens, filled with wine and joy. Laughter, clapping, and expectation rippled through the throng like one unbroken breath.

But at the crest of the marble dais—

The King remained.

The holy silence of the moonlit ceremony was broken. In its stead: thunderous applause, the ring of silver, music swelling like a tide that rises.

And at the center of it all... the King.

Unhurried. Authoritative.

King Aurelian Moonlight stood up from his crescent throne, the silken folds of his silver-black attire rippling like storm clouds slashed with moonlight. Every step, while slow, bore weight—dignity given form.

By his side, Queen Sona stood up in subdued elegance. Her robe, a midnight blue so dark it was nearly black, glimmered in the torchlight like the starry night itself. Silver-white hair fell behind her in silken streams, catching the light with each step—a banner of moonlight draped in sorrow and splendor.

For one tense moment, the court froze once more—not from reverence, but instinct. The power had turned. The axis of the night was shifting.

And then—

The three Pillars emerged under the monarchs, as if swept by some unseen tide.

Duke Edric—keen as a knife pulled in darkness, all of him wrapped in lethal beauty.

Duchess Nova—tall, self-contained, her very form sculpted from determination and moonstone.

And Duke Leon—immovable as a lion fore the storm. Golden eyes cast down under black lashes, yet burning with inscrutable fire.

They spoke not. They bowed not. Yet in that stillness, something antique roused.

Side by side, royalty and bearers of the realm went down the steps of marble. Every step, purposeful. Every look, acute with significance. The wind did not change—but presence. Weight. Authority. Heirship.

An armada of gods in flesh.

The instant trembled with hidden power.

All knew: the ritual was done. The spectacle was at an end.

And now. the real reunion would start.

Their footsteps echoed in harmony.

Measured. Not hurried. Purposeful.

The lower courtyard, where the consecrated ritual had just ended, was not to feast. It was a court of spectacle, not strategy. Reverence, not rivalry. But beyond its perimeter—behind veiled arches and gilded doors—the real court lay in wait. The court where names emerged or fell with a whisper. Where the weight of the air itself was heavier, heavy with secrets, honed ambition, and unspoken longing.

The nobles knew the boundaries by heart.

They who stayed behind, under the stars, would feast and drink and act content—under the same authority they obeyed. Only the favored few would venture further into the palace, into Moonspire’s core. Into a world unseen by many—where blood was thinner than blade, and each smile was weighed like gold.

None grumbled.

They drank. They spoke in hushed tones. They observed the favored depart.

Because in Moonspire, power and blood are in charge.

To challenge the hierarchy was to invite devastation.

And so the procession moved forward—accompanied by silent shadows and honor guards wearing black-plate armor that shone like obsidian. Their footsteps were the melody now. Their presence, the sole proclamation required.

Heads dipped as they walked—not in greeting, but in deference. A whispered acceptance of the unstated order that kept their world intact.

At the front, Queen Sona glided along with regal elegance, her hand perfunctorily resting on her daughter’s arm. Princess Lira, moon-crowned, strode ahead with renewed strength—her silver dress rustling against the highly polished stone, each step sounding the burden of a heritage embraced.

Behind them, Leon’s wives trailed like a river of beauty—Rias in fire-colored silk, Aria in seafoam and enigma, Kyra and Syra in mirrored beauty, Cynthia as gold as a sunbeam, Mia wrapped in shy starlight. Every woman wore her pride, her eyes ahead, her tie to Leon unbreakable. The court observed them not with contempt, but with wonder—and a growing trepidation.

They were no longer simply women of a duke. They were powers unto themselves.

The corridor further on broadened, its arches flowering into the palace’s holy interior—a place where history was hewn into every stone and the gravity of dynasty lived and breathed. And yet, the procession moved on, a sea of color and quiet, of royalty and rebellion, of ancient vows and dawnings anew.

From courtyard circumference to palace center, the shift occurred like a ritual—quiet, fluid, but rich with symbolism. The air changed. More gentle. More weighted.

Queen Sona strolled alongside her daughter, Lira, their steps in tandem—not out of obligation, but out of something implicit. Lira moved now with greater weight, the radiance of her moonlight ceremony still present on her skin, her eyes bright with reserved strength.

Behind them strolled Leon, a shadow cast in gold. At his rear moved the constellation of wives—Rias in scarlet folds, Aria in sapphire drapes, Kyra and Syra as twin flames in contrasting colors, Cynthia as moonlit glass, and Mia following like a whisper. Nova preceded them, imperious and unyielding, her form slicing through the air as a drawn blade encased in velvet.

They passed through the open archway at the bottom of the courtyard, abandoning the buzz of the outside world. Starlight yielded to carved stone; birdsong to silence. The inner palace welcomed them not with trumpets but with silence—the silence only power could insist upon.

The building curled inward, constructed in consecrated concentric circles that sheltered its center like a crown safeguarding its gem.

To their left, lined by two narrow spires and haloed by a suspended chandelier of delicate, shimmering pearls, stood the door to the Velvet Crescent Ballroom—a private chamber reserved for those who built kingdoms in whispers, not war. Only the royal family, high dukes, ministers, merchant lords, and the ancient houses of Moonspire ever entered.

The wind caught its breath as the procession approached the arched gate, cut into the very heart of Moonspire. The carved crescents on the doors glimmered softly, as if coming through a stir.

Leon’s eyes flashed toward it—sharp, unreadable.

The great doors, darkwood and with twin silver moons engraved upon them, swung open without noise.

Inside...
