Chapter 1389: Chapter 591: Fight Back to Our Homeland! Fight Back to Leonais!

”You can only say those Southern Men are really wealthy.” Count Larot shook his head as he watched his peasant infantry gnawing on black bread with porridge, which was just a mix of some flour and a few vegetables and carrots: ”Look at this supply, you’ll know where the problem lies.”

”Stop talking about those Southern Men, Larot, don’t forget.” On hearing the words ”Southern Men,” Durin immediately reacted as if pricked by a needle, quickly saying: ”We’ve already pledged allegiance to His Grace the Duke.”

”...” Count Larot realized he was somewhat speechless, nodded lightly to indicate his mistake, and stopped talking.

”Besides, this also presents an opportunity for us, a chance for the whole Musillon forces to reshuffle. You see, Larot, His Grace the Duke’s terms are very stringent, which is bound to cause some dissatisfaction among the nobility; they’re used to good times...” Durin whispered in his ear: ”Do you understand what I mean?”

”I understand.” Larot nodded with deep meaning after listening: ”Change isn’t all bad. The key is to follow closely with the Duke.”

The two counts exchanged a glance and smiled with satisfaction.

Meanwhile, local peasant soldiers and even local knightly nobility were envying the Old Guard’s rations.

”Ah, my knight, here you are!” Remon came over with an iron plate, carrying a large piece of bread, a bowl of vegetable meat soup, a red sausage, and some dried fruit before Bertrand: ”Good evening.”

As an officer, Remon had more dried fruit than a regular Old Guard, while Bertrand had additionally oatmeal porridge and a plate of roasted lamb compared to Remon.

”Good evening, Remon.” Bertrand scooped oatmeal porridge with a spoon while slicing the roast lamb with a knife. The knight, now forty years old, was the actual commander and leader of the Old Guard, feeling nostalgic as he watched the army under the night sky.

Who would have thought that eight years ago, he was still a bandit leader roaming the Charon Forest?

It’s all like a dream.

”Remon, I remember you’re a Leonais, right?” As he bit into the crispy and savory roasted lamb, the lamb from Kakasong was indeed delicious, the lean meat was chewy, balanced in fatness and tenderness, juicy and rich, Bertrand said with a smile while chewing: ”How does it feel to return home?”

”It feels... a bit weird, and somewhat indescribably thrilling.” Remon nodded slightly, his hands trembling: ”It’s been several years since my mother, brother, and I left home, and this time, I really want to go back and have a look.”

”There surely will be a chance.” Bertrand reached out and softly caressed his large bow, produced by Wood Elves, the Starfire Bow which could shoot arrows embedded with the Power of Starfire: ”How far is that village from here?”

While such a large bow might not be extraordinary to Wood Elves, in the human world, it’s an invaluable treasure.

”Around eighty kilometers away, currently occupied by a group of rebellious peasants.” Remon’s heart was uncontrollably excited, as if a little man inside him was roaring and shouting.

Fight back home! Fight back to Leonais! Fight back to the village!

Your Old Guard Remon is back!

”Oh, it’s this village, right?” Bertrand took out a map and looked at it with a hand lantern made by Dwarfs: ”Then we’ll be there fastest by the day after tomorrow, or the latest two days after tomorrow.”

”When the opportunity arises, go back and have a look, Remon!”

”Mm!”

The eyes of the Old Guard were full of fire.

Time to fight back home!
