Chapter 1373: Chapter 585: 5-Year Study Abroad Plan (3)

Thomas is now twelve years old, the boy who used to be as skinny as a little monkey has now grown taller and stronger. He buried his head in the bowl, eating the juicy lamb meat in big mouthfuls, making Remon want to laugh: ”Thomas, don’t rush to eat, no one is going to take it from you.”

”Brother, you’re finally back.” Thomas lifted his head from the bowl, his face a bit greasy: ”I got my butt slapped by the Dwarf master today!”

”Why? Did you get into mischief again?” The Old Guard was a bit puzzled.

”I said I was taller than Mr. Delong.” Thomas said a bit sheepishly.

”...If it were me, I’d definitely skin you alive.” Remon couldn’t help but laugh.

”Heh heh... heh heh heh...” Little Thomas lowered his head in embarrassment: ”Brother, I want to study abroad in Nuer.”

The main topic is here! Upon hearing this, Remon raised his head and put down the knife and fork in his hand: ”Study abroad in Nuer? Is that the school’s suggestion?”

”Yes, the school plans to send three hundred children around my age to study in Nuer, His Grace the Duke has already made contact with Nuer.” Thomas nodded, speaking timidly: ”Honorary Chancellor Emmanuelle of Nuer University has already agreed to this request, so recently they’re selecting students. At school, I’m the best in academics, so the Dwarf master asked if I wanted to study at Nuer.”

”I know, the five-year study abroad plan, His Grace the Duke mentioned it before.” Remon frowned, and the Old Guard was somewhat hesitant.

Thomas studying abroad in Nuer, Remon felt he couldn’t oppose it for personal or moral reasons.

But if Thomas went to Nuer, what would happen to the old mother? Would there be anyone left at home with her soon?

Would this house still be a home?

”The five-year study abroad plan... is that so?”

Meanwhile, at the Duke’s Castle, Lake Fairy Tower.

”That’s right, the five-year study abroad plan.”

Laine sat together with his wife Surya, Chief Maid Sylvia, and personal maid Ollica, and the Duke explained his plan to Surya: ”They will further their studies in Nuer and learn the Empire’s advanced technology and knowledge, then return to build our country.”

”Yes, Nuer is the industrial and academic center of the Empire, the students are bound to gain something.” Surya nodded, she suddenly said a bit sourly: ”Emmanuelle agreed so readily~”

”That’s because I’ve placed an order of eight thousand Gold Crowns in weapons at Nuer!” Laine retorted: ”Amelia really leaves no room for negotiation, asking for a starting price of ten thousand Gold Crowns right off the bat, it took me half a day of bargaining to get this result.”

”In the evening, you still have to meet with Count Durin and Count Larot, right?” Surya didn’t continue on the topic, instead focusing on another matter.

”They are old Musillon Nobles, ready to pledge allegiance to me.” Laine nodded.

”Has the southern part of Leonais also decided to submit?” Surya thought for a moment, she turned her gaze to her maid: ”Then let Sylvia accompany you, she’ll represent me and be able to assist you.”

”...” Laine was unsure of Surya’s intentions, he looked up at Sylvia, but noticed the Chief Maid’s face was very red, and she seemed to be enduring something, as Laine’s gaze fell on her, she nodded in agreement.

”Alright then.” Laine didn’t think much about it, he expressed his consent.

What the Duke failed to notice was that the Dark Elf Maid behind him gave the Chief Maid a slight smile, while Sylvia shook her head fearfully, and Ollica just kept sneering.

After finishing dinner, Sylvia accompanied Laine out of the Lake Fairy Tower, the Chief Maid quietly said to Laine: ”Lord Laine, whether it’s Count Durin or Count Larot, they are both noble families among the Musillon Nobles, please do not lack courtesy, lest it damages the family name.”

”I know.” Laine assured her.

”I...” The Chief Maid took a few steps forward, she was about to say more when Sylvia suddenly turned crimson as if electrocuted, and immediately lost control, squatting down, biting her lips and looking like she was enduring something intensely: ”Ooh...”

”Sylvia, what’s wrong with you?” Laine asked, puzzled.

”Noth... nothing...”
