Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Antares spoke casually, yet his words carried a faint trace of seriousness that Lin Moyu could clearly sense.

There were few things in this world capable of making Antares take anything seriously.

He was always aloof and carefree, treating everything as if it were merely a game.

Even beings such as the Demon Emperor or the Dragon Emperor seemed insignificant in his eyes.

Lin Moyu didn’t know exactly what realm Antares had reached, but he was certain of one thing, Antares was not weaker than a Transcendent God-level powerhouse.

In this world, he was an existence beyond reach.

So, if even someone like him grew serious, then whatever he spoke of could not be simple.

Lin Moyu listened intently, his attention undivided.

This time, Antares didn’t leave him guessing.

“I once told you there are three ways to become a Transcendent God-level powerhouse. The first is through a formation. It’s the easiest… and also the worst way.”

Lin Moyu nodded. He had heard that before.

Why was it the worst? Because it relied on external power.

Even if one broke through, their strength would plummet once they lost the help of the external power, making them among the weakest of Transcendent God-level experts.

Antares continued, “This problem doesn’t only appear at the Transcendent God-level. It’s the same during the third class awakening.”

“Using a formation for the first class awakening is fine, since the formation merely acts as a key, opening the door for the class user.”

“For the second class awakening, it’s already somewhat problematic, but still acceptable. At that stage, your soul is weak, your skills underdeveloped. It’s barely even considered laying the foundation.”

“But the third class awakening… that’s different. For anyone aspiring to reach the Transcendent God-level, the third class awakening is a key step to build the foundation. The deeper and stronger the foundation, the greater your chance of reaching the Transcendent God-level.”

“And since formations rely on external power, they inevitably weaken that foundation, and in turn, your chance of becoming a Transcendent God-level powerhouse.”

Lin Moyu frowned, “So… it’s possible to undergo the third class awakening without a formation?”

Antares chuckled, “Of course. If everyone depended on formations, where did the first human class users come from? Before formations even existed, how do you think the first God-level powerhouse was born?”

Lin Moyu was stunned. He had never considered those questions before.

Before formations, how had humans undergone their class awakenings at all?

“It seems we’ve fallen into a misconception” He said gravely.

Antares shook his head, “Not a misconception, but a necessity. Without formations, the number of class users in this world would have dropped by 99%.”

“Yet with more class users, the probability of birthing God-level experts increased, allowing humanity to survive against the Demons and the Dragonkind.”

“It was a choice made for survival, and not one from your age. This decision was made in the previous age.”

“If you wish to call it a mistake, then it’s a mistake inherited from that age.”

Lin Moyu fell silent. He hadn’t expected it to be so.

As Antares spoke, understanding slowly dawned.

The path humanity took was both right and wrong.

It was right because it gave birth to countless class users. In the Human World now, nearly everyone possessed a class.

It was wrong because it had abandoned the other, the elite path.

That was what Antares lamented.

From his tone, Lin Moyu realized that in the previous age, there had been multiple Transcendent God-level powerhouses.

And yet, Antares called them too weak.

Yes, too weak

Because they had abandoned the elite path, choosing quantity over quality.

Even though a few Transcendent God-level powerhouses had emerged among them, in Antares’s eyes, they were still far too weak.

He had once said that a single true powerhouse was worth more than hundreds or even a thousand of lesser ones.

Just like this time. If Jiang Yi hadn’t intervened, no one could have stopped the Demon Emperor’s gigantic hand.

Even if Bai Yiyuan and the others had joined forces, it wouldn’t have mattered.

Lin Moyu had no right to comment, yet his instincts told him that Antares was right.

After listening for a while, Lin Moyu finally asked, “Then what must I do to complete the third class awakening?”

He had never attempted a class awakening without the aid of a formation.

Even Meng Anwen might not have known how, and perhaps not even the most secret vault of the imperial family held such knowledge.

Antares replied, “You’ve obtained Blueluster Fire. It’s not a high-grade treasure, but it suits you perfectly.”

“Blueluster Fire has strengthened your soul origin, greatly expanding your soul’s upper limit. And when you encountered the Soul Devouring Beasts, you absorbed a vast amount of pure soul force.”

“You’re only level 69, yet your soul origin is already close to the God-level.”

“With such a powerful soul, completing the third class awakening won’t be difficult.”

“However, before that, you must first understand the true essence of class awakening.”

Antares explained in great detail, while Lin Moyu listened intently, memorizing every word.

When Antares finally finished, Lin Moyu grasped what the elite path truly meant.

To advance without relying on formations was an almost impossible feat. Out of 100,000 people, perhaps not even one would meet the requirements.

Among everyone Lin Moyu knew, not a single one qualified. Even Meng Anwen and the others wouldn’t have back in their day.

The first requirement was a powerful soul. Before reaching level 70, one needed a soul comparable to someone above level 80.

Only with such a powerful soul could one touch the skill space and access the skill origin of a skill.

Lin Moyu recalled how excited Meng Anwen and Bai Yiyuan had been when they discovered he could perceive the skill space and its light points when he awakened his skills.

They had known it meant he possessed a powerful soul. But they didn’t understand it as deeply as Antares did.

One knew that it was so; the other knew why. The difference was vast.

Now, with knowledge from both sides, Lin Moyu finally understood.

He needed to enter the skill space using only his soul force, without the help of skill scrolls.

There, he would guide a light point representing a skill into his soul, raising his soul force and level in the process.

Once he guided a skill into his soul and then reached level 70, he would resonate with the laws of heaven and earth, marking the beginning of his third class awakening.

But that would only be the beginning, not its completion.

Antares’s words echoed in his mind like a mantra.

“Guiding a skill into your soul is the necessary preparation for the third class awakening.”

“If your soul has not merged with any skills, you cannot trigger resonance with the laws.”

“Once you complete the third class awakening, you step into a new realm. You must continue transferring skills into your soul.”

“The weak can transfer only a couple.”

“The slightly stronger, at least five.”

“But the truly strong can transfer every skill they possess into their soul.”

Lin Moyu finally understood the vast gulf that separated the strong from the weak.

To draw a skill into one’s soul, that was something that usually only God-level experts could achieve.

After level 80, a person could begin to comprehend the skill origin and touch the skill space, then, throughout the process of leveling up, gradually merge their skills into the soul.

Once a single skill entered the soul, that meant reaching half-step God-level.

Merging two skills meant becoming a true God-level powerhouse.

Beyond that, by continuing to comprehend skills, one could merge those skills with their soul and thereby grow stronger.

But what Lin Moyu was about to do was unprecedented—to fuse skill light points into his soul before his third class awakening.

What Lin Moyu was about to do, however, was to prematurely fuse skill light points into his soul.

He was going to take a step—one that was typically reserved for those who were about to become God-level powerhouses—before even achieving the third class awakening.

The difficulty was unimaginable, but the same was true for the resulting difference in strength.

If he succeeded, even without relying on his talents, he could become unrivaled among those of his level.

Even without talents, defeating level 80-plus opponents while still at level 70 would be entirely possible.

According to Antares, anyone capable of merging three or more skill light points into their soul could solo world rank bosses of the same level.

They could solo world rank bosses of the same level even without taking talents into account.

Lin Moyu had been stunned when Antares said this.

But what Antares said next shattered his worldview again.

He realized how little he truly knew about the world, about the class system, about everything.

The secrets of this world were vast, and he had only glimpsed the tip of the iceberg.

Antares lifted his chin slightly, pride flashing in his eyes, “Even if you move all your skill light points into your soul, that’ll only make you a top-tier expert. But that’s still far from a supreme expert.”

“A true supreme expert can even move their talents into their soul.”

“You probably don’t even know where your talents are, do you?”

Lin Moyu looked at Antares with wide eyes.

To move talents into the soul? He had never even heard of such a thing.
