STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer

About a few hours later,

Jeremy Night landed at City A airport. After leaving the airport, he found an aircab to take him away. It didn’t take a long time for him to reach Central University 14.

After paying the fare, he turned to enter the university. He saw the new guards looking at him with surprise. He guessed people must have missed him since he was away from the controversy.

Especially those two S-Graders must be pissed off because he ignored their duel challenge. Jeremy then started walking towards the dormitory.

On the way, while walking on the footpath, he came across other students who were going about their business. But they all stopped in their tracks upon seeing him.

The next second, they started to take out their digital devices to take pictures. Jeremy knew it would be a matter of time before the whole university knew of his return. He then continued walking, ignoring them.

Soon, he returned to his dorm room. The first thing he did was enter the bathtub. He forgot about the outside noise.

Outside,

The pictures posted by the students appeared online. Then the students began to notice it. Quickly, everyone realized that Jeremy Night had returned.

The Elemental Department students quickly informed May Lindsey. On the other hand, Victor Scott learned the news from his classmates.

The first one to react was May Lindsey. She immediately left her classroom. A few of her classmates followed her.

About ten minutes later,

May Lindsey came to the STRIKER department class. She saw Betsy Lowe and Daniel Stone, but Jeremy Night was not there.

Betsy Lowe stood up and looked at her.

”He is not here. He must be resting,” she said to her.

Daniel Stone was stunned. He didn’t expect May Lindsey to come here directly. Everyone had been looking for Jeremy since yesterday.

The first-year students wanted to see a rematch, but Jeremy Night left the campus without responding to the challenges.

May Lindsey frowned. She looked at both of them before saying, ”If you guys see him, tell him that I want a rematch.”

”My strength has increased. I have reached the Tier-1 Limit. Jeremy Night is no match for me. If he denies, then ask him to defeat me again,” she added before leaving the room.

Her classmates followed her. When everyone was gone, Betsy Lowe said, ”Call him.”

Hearing that, Daniel took out his device to make a call, but the call was not connected. The next second, he revealed a helpless smile on his face.

”He is not answering the call. Maybe, like you said, he is resting,” Daniel Stone said.

”I’m leaving. I don’t want to face the students from the Control Department.” After saying that, Betsy walked out.

Daniel Stone recalled Victor Scott, who had been low-key for so long. He understood that the upcoming days wouldn’t be peaceful. He hoped that Jeremy Night would solve all of that.

Then he left the place in a hurry. He didn’t want to confront the Control Department’s students alone. But not long after he left, no one came from the Control Department.

As usual, Victor Scott made the decision to watch the duel between May Lindsey and Jeremy Night first. He had reached the Tier-1 limit as well, a few days after May Lindsey. He didn’t think Jeremy Night, with A-Grade Talent, had surpassed them.

So he thought if Jeremy appeared this time, he would lose face.

Meanwhile,

Something was happening at the headquarters of the Red Squad Team. Manager Alex found that four team members had been missing since yesterday. Their connection was cut off, and no one was able to reach them through other means.

Manager Alex suspected that the team must have gone into the wilderness. They had yet to return to the city, so he was not pressing the alarm bell just yet. There had been cases where people had spent one week in the wilderness.

In case of any serious injury, it would take a lot of time for them to return. After looking at their current mission details, he thought his guess was right. It was reported that an Iron-winged Panther was spotted in the core area.

The higher-tier beasts lived there, so he knew how dangerous that place was. He decided to wait a couple of days before reporting to the higher-ups. But he didn’t think anyone could have targeted the team; it had never happened before.

So such a reason didn’t come across his mind.

On the other hand, another Red Squad Team, which had taken the job of the underground network, learned that their target had returned to the university. Earlier, they had thought the target had entered the wilderness.

Some of their eyeliners were waiting at the city gate, yet no one had spotted him. This indicated that their target had returned from somewhere else.

Then they called back their eyeliners. The team that took on this mission was frustrated. It’s an underground network mission; they couldn’t openly ask for help from others. They had to do it secretly.

...

City Gate:

As early as two days ago, the City Guard team began to be wary of the Red Squad Team. Their members’ appearance was not a good sign since they found out they were after Jeremy Night.

With the help of the City Police, they were keeping an eye on them. It didn’t take long for Captain Nathan to get the news. After learning that Jeremy Night had returned, he heaved a sigh of relief.

He knew that Jeremy Night had spent time with his family. He had learned from the authorities there. If Jeremy had entered the wilderness of City A, he was sure that the Red Squad Team would have gone after him.

Then things would have taken a serious turn. But the threat was not over yet. He thought it would be a matter of time before Jeremy decided to go into the wilderness.

He had escaped attacks more than once, but he didn’t think that kid could pull off the same success against the Red Squad Team.

The following day,

Jeremy left the dormitory after getting ready. He had already seen the messages and online posts last night. He knew everyone was waiting for his response right now.

While walking, he kept an eye on his surroundings. He zoomed in to check whether anyone was waiting for him. Then he spotted a group of students standing under a tree.

They were not facing in the direction of the dormitory. He was not sure whether they were there for him. Jeremy glanced at them before continuing his walk.

Soon, he reached the department building. He went to the top floor and walked into his classroom. As always, two people were there before him.

Daniel and Betsy stood up from their seats. Their faces were full of tension.

”Brother Jeremy, have you made any decision?” Daniel was the first one to ask. Both of them had sent him messages last night.

Betsy furrowed her eyebrows and said, ”The Elemental Department students have started a negative campaign against you. They have started calling you names, such as ’coward’. If you don’t fight, then things will get bad.”

Jeremy sighed inwardly. He was expecting this kind of childish behavior from students in other departments. But he was unwilling to reveal his strength. A Red Squad Team was after his life.

If he revealed his strength, they wouldn’t remain silent. Then he could face an even more threatening situation.

Daniel Stone and Betsy Lowe were stunned. They didn’t understand why Jeremy was pondering this.

”Is he scared?” Daniel thought. The next second, he shook his head. He had trust in Jeremy’s strength, but Jeremy wouldn’t do anything he wasn’t sure about.

Seeing his hesitation, Daniel wondered whether it had anything to do with two S-Graders reaching the Tier-1 limit. He couldn’t see through Jeremy’s strength at all.

Betsy Lowe was thinking the same thing. She believed Jeremy had yet to reach the Tier-1 limit, which was why he was being indecisive right now.

After gaining some clarity in his thoughts, he turned towards them.

”Don’t worry, I’ll find a solution,” Jeremy said to them.

He then turned around to leave without saying anything. Betsy and Daniel were stunned. They didn’t expect this response from Jeremy.

”I think he is weighing something on his mind,” Betsy said.

Daniel’s eyes flashed with understanding.

He turned around and looked at her.

He asked, ”Do you think he is still thinking about the killer?”

”I heard from Instructor Jacob that the investigation is still ongoing,” he added.

Betsy’s eyes gleamed with realization. She had almost forgotten about this case. But what did it have to do with the challenge duel?

She shook her head before saying, ”I don’t know what’s exactly on his mind right now.”

Then she exited the classroom.

Daniel Stone stood confused. He thought Instructor Jacob would answer his questions. He decided to see him right away. Otherwise, he would go crazy from the suspense.

On the other hand, Jeremy got closer to the joint training facility. He found different gazes on him. Most of them were now filled with ridicule.

He found it funny. Just a few days ago, everyone was scared of him. At that time, he had beaten a couple of students inside the same building.
