When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal

Chapter 191: Chapter 187: Good-for-nothing x Pure-hearted Little Overlord 26

Ji Xiaosong saw Jiang Yao’s nervous and timid expression and let out a laugh.

”Alright, we’ll do it your way.”

She liked children, but she didn’t feel the need to have a huge family.

For the Jiang Family, it was a case of the more, the merrier. But for Jiang Yao, it meant he would be on pins and needles every time Ji Xiaosong was pregnant.

The days passed, and Ji Xiaosong finally gave birth to the two children.

The son was the older twin, and the daughter was the younger.

Everyone assumed that since the quadruplets Ji Xiaosong had given birth to before were all incredibly smart and sensible, these next two would be the same.

But who could have known that the little sister would be a high-need baby, while her brother was a bundle of boundless energy and curiosity.

Starting at four months, when he learned to roll over, the little brother’s favorite daily activity was rolling over.

At first, he could only manage a single roll. But after half a month of practice, he could roll continuously from one end of the bed to the other.

Thankfully, the Jiang Family had nannies on call twenty-four hours a day. Otherwise, with a single moment of inattention, Lao Wu would have rolled right off the bed.

To give him more room to move, Jiang Yao even set up a new playroom for Lao Wu.

As for Lao Liu, the little sister, she seemed to have been born with an inherently ”high-need” disposition.

She wasn’t as easily satisfied as other infants. She had nearly stringent requirements for her food, sleep, companionship, and even her surroundings.

She had a keen sense for the temperature and consistency of her formula. The slightest imperfection would be met with wails of protest until she was presented with the ”perfect concoction” that met her satisfaction.

Sleep became a top priority for the entire family. She would only deign to sleep in an absolutely quiet, softly lit room, and only if she was personally lulled to sleep by either Ji Xiaosong or Jiang Yao. The slightest noise would startle her awake, and getting her back to sleep after that was a monumental task.

When it came to companionship, Lao Liu was extraordinarily clingy.

No matter how professional or gentle the nannies were, they could never replace her parents in her heart.

The moment Ji Xiaosong or Jiang Yao left her line of sight, she would immediately sense it, and a sky-piercing wail would follow, as if it were her way of announcing her displeasure and needs.

Thus, to properly care for their daughter, Ji Xiaosong and Jiang Yao kept her by their side at nearly all times.

They even turned down a significant amount of work just to be able to look after her.

But even that wasn’t enough to satisfy Lao Liu, for she was just as picky about her environment.

The temperature, humidity, and smells in the house—even the genre of music playing—could trigger her emotional fluctuations.

The moment she felt uncomfortable, she would use her tender yet powerful cries to remind everyone that something needed to change.

What was most exasperating was that Lao Liu’s demand for cuddles seemed to be endless.

Whether waking up in the morning, in the middle of her nap, or before bed at night, she needed to be held tightly, to feel the warmth and heartbeat of her parents. It was as if this was the only way to give her enough security to satisfy her seemingly bottomless ”high needs.”

These days were a challenge for the Jiang Family. They had finally been blessed with a daughter, and everyone wanted to spoil her rotten, but she didn’t give anyone else the chance.

Fortunately, the other five boys in the family didn’t mind at all and were happy to let their little sister monopolize their parents’ attention. Otherwise, the daily effort of placating the baby would have left Ji Xiaosong utterly exhausted.

Every time Rongrong saw Lao Liu, she couldn’t help but tsk-tsk.

”Song, you’ve raised so many children, but I don’t think you’ve ever encountered one this high-need.”

Ji Xiaosong didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ’So, does this count as a new experience? Maybe my previous lives were too easy, so the two children I’ve had in this life are here to make me work for it.’

She had just finished her Divine Sense exchange with Rongrong when Lao Wu, who had just turned one, started plotting his descent down the stairs.

Despite being only a year old, he was incredibly strong.

He would find a way to dismantle anything in the house that he could get his hands on.

If there were paintbrushes around, the walls were doomed.

The moment no one was watching, he’d splash paint on the walls or just start drawing on them directly with a pen.

The new playroom Jiang Yao had set up for him at four months old was already wrecked beyond recognition by the time Lao Wu was a year and a half.

It was rare to see a little hellion as accomplished as he was.

When he hit his first rebellious phase at age two, he became completely uncontrollable.

He had a mind of his own and refused to listen to anyone.

Lao Wu’s rebellious phase was like a stone tossed into the placid waters of the Jiang family’s life, the ripples spreading out rapidly.

His curiosity was directly proportional to his capacity for destruction, and he brought new ”surprises” to the family every single day.

By two and a half, Lao Wu was already proficient at operating the various electronic devices in the house, forcing Jiang Yao to reset the home’s security system to prevent him from accidentally causing some unnecessary disaster.

However, technical limitations couldn’t stop Lao Wu’s exploratory rampage. He soon turned his attention to other items in the house.

During one family banquet, the old Jiang family residence was bustling with activity.

Just then, Lao Wu quietly slipped out of the playroom, his eyes glinting with curiosity. He was clearly plotting some ”grand scheme.”

As everyone knows, when a child goes quiet, it’s a sign that trouble is brewing.

When she realized she hadn’t heard a peep from Lao Wu or his nanny in a while, Ji Xiaosong immediately tensed up.

”Where did that little rascal run off to?” Ji Xiaosong poked her head out of the music room, looking around.

Shen Fengming laughed. ”Don’t worry. Kids are always curious. And our Lao Wu is a particularly smart one.”

The words were barely out of his mouth when a loud CRASH echoed from the living room, the sound of something heavy hitting the floor.

Mrs. Jiang was so startled she nearly dropped the vase she was holding and rushed out.

”What’s going on?”

Mrs. Jiang’s face turned pale when she saw the fragments of antique porcelain scattered across the center of the living room floor.

Lao Wu was hiding in a corner, looking at everyone with an innocent expression. He was still clutching a remote control—the clear ”trophy” of his ”expedition.”

”Lao Wu, how could you be so naughty?”

Jiang Yao rushed over from his study upon hearing the noise. When he saw the scene, he was furious.

But Lao Wu just blinked his big eyes and said in a small, childish voice, ”I just wanted to see if this could make the TV fly.”

His one sentence left everyone present at a loss for whether to laugh or cry.

Grandpa Jiang hurried in from the garden. Seeing the scene, he could only shake his head helplessly. ”This child... he’s a natural-born king of destruction.”

Father Jiang tried to keep a straight face, but the corner of his mouth twitched. ”Alright, let’s not scold him for now. Let’s see if these ceramics can be repaired.”

Although she wanted to just let it go, Ji Xiaosong looked at the porcelain—shattered for the umpteenth time this month—and couldn’t hold back any longer.

She snatched Lao Wu up, and without a second word, broke a switch from a nearby shrub and started spanking him with it.

”How many times have I told you not to break these things? Why do you keep doing it on purpose?”

Lao Wu howled as he was being disciplined. Ji Xiaosong was the only one in the family who dared to spank him; everyone else spoiled him rotten.

Mrs. Jiang wanted to say that it was just a piece of porcelain and the family could certainly afford another one, but she stopped herself, thinking it wasn’t her place to interfere in her grandchild’s discipline. The foot she had extended, she drew back.

”Mama, I’m sorry! I know I was wrong!”

Ji Xiaosong ignored him completely. She had no idea how many times Lao Wu had said those exact words.

He said it every time, and he repeated the offense every time.

Although Lao Wu was young, he understood everything people said to him.

After Ji Xiaosong finished spanking him, he behaved himself for a while.

But it wasn’t long before he got another spanking.

The reason was a family trip to a beach in the neighboring city. Since it was close, they all went together by car.

Lao Wu was fidgeting in his car seat, and in a moment of adult inattention, he unbuckled his harness.

Unbuckling it was bad enough, but then he started clamoring to get out of the car.

Ji Xiaosong, seeing that they were on the highway, held her temper in check.

When Lao Wu saw that Ji Xiaosong wasn’t angry, he must have thought he could get his way, so he kept demanding to get out, even starting to kick the car door.

”Old Wang, pull over at the next rest stop.”

Ji Xiaosong said to the driver, her face grim.

”Ma’am, the next rest stop is at least half an hour away.”
