When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal

Chapter 187: Chapter 183: Wimp x Pure-hearted Young Overlord 22

With the entire family’s undivided attention, the four little ones stayed put until they were full-term, only then preparing to make their debut.

Multiple births often result in premature babies, but Ji Xiaosong had no intention of letting them come out that early.

’It’s better for them to stay in my belly for even one more day.’ She had her ways of ensuring they would survive and be safe.

「The day of the birth」

At three in the morning, the west wing of the Jiang’s old house was suddenly illuminated by countless searchlights.

A security net of thirty-six drones sliced the night sky into a diamond-like grid.

Jiang Yao ripped off his tie and burst through the doors of the delivery room. He was immediately met with the sight of Mrs. Jiang, who was holding a gilded censer and chanting the Ksitigarbha Sutra. Agarwood ash drifted silently onto her custom-made qipao, which was embroidered with the full text of the Diamond Sutra.

”The third set of waveforms on the fetal heart monitor is abnormal!”

An obstetrics expert from Country D suddenly shouted.

On the projection, the jade-colored dots of light representing the quadruplets began to flicker frantically.

Old Sir Jiang slammed his Dragon Head Walking Stick hard on the ground. An entire wall of purple sandalwood medicine cabinets sprang open with a SWOOSH. Forty heirs from traditional Chinese medicine families filed in, each carrying slices of thousand-year-old wild ginseng.

”Move!”

Ji Xiaosong shrugged off the supporting hand of a nurse, her sweat-dampened black hair clinging to her snow-white neck.

She gripped the Kesi silk straps on both sides of the delivery bed. These straps were fragments from an emperor’s wedding bed canopy, which the Jiang Family had specially borrowed from the national palace.

”Tell the anesthesiologist I don’t need an epidural...”

A CRACKLE of static suddenly erupted from Father Jiang’s walkie-talkie. ”Report! Seven media helicopters spotted three kilometers from the mansion!”

”Shoot them down.”

Father Jiang loosened his tie, revealing a knife scar on his neck. The barrels of twenty armored vehicles lifted in unison. ”Use electromagnetic pulse munitions. We can’t let a single stray sound startle the Young Madam.”

Inside the delivery room, Jiang Yao’s hoarse voice suddenly cried out, ”Xiaosong’s hands are bleeding!”

Everyone looked over in terror. Ji Xiaosong’s fingernails were digging so deep into her palms that blood beads were dripping down the solid gold guardrails of the delivery bed.

The Buddha Beads in Mrs. Jiang’s hand snapped with a sharp CRACK, jade beads scattering across the floor. ”Quick, bring the Old-Mine Jade Ointment from Country MD!”

”Everyone, shut up!”

Ji Xiaosong suddenly pushed herself up. The collar of her blood-stained hospital gown fell open, revealing the Jiang Family’s heirloom Mutton Fat Jade Lock.

She bit down on the Nephrite Jade rod Jiang Yao offered her, her eyes glinting. ”The fourth baby is stuck in the birth canal, isn’t he? Get me my acupuncture kit!”

Before the room full of foreign doctors could even react, Ji Xiaosong had already snatched a silver needle and plunged it into her Sanyinjiao acupoint.

On the projection screen, the fourth jade dot, which had been motionless, suddenly erupted in a dazzling glow. The midwife screamed in delight.

”The young master’s head is out!”

”WAAAH—”

As the first cry pierced the heavens, the century-old bronze bell at the Jiang Mansion, meant to guard the residence, rang nine times on its own.

The Jiang Clan Members waiting in the outer hall dropped to their knees in unison. Twenty clan elders held up four scrolls of the family registry, written on gold foil, and shouted in booming voices:

”The four dragons have returned to their thrones! Heaven bless the Jiang Family!”

As Jiang Yao, trembling, cut the fourth umbilical cord, he suddenly noticed the carpet beneath the delivery bed was completely soaked in blood.

This man, known globally as a cold-blooded capitalist, felt his eyes instantly redden. ”We’re never doing this again. Never again...”

”Don’t be silly.”

A faint smile touched Ji Xiaosong’s pale lips. She gently brushed her fingertips over the bite marks on the back of her husband’s hand. ”Now, bring the babies to me...”

Before she could finish, an entire floor-to-ceiling wall of bulletproof glass descended. Four neonatal nurses pushed in temperature-controlled incubators and knelt on one knee. ”Reporting to the Young Madam, the eldest young master weighs 5.7 pounds and has already been injected with a custom immune protein from RS Country!”

”The second young master’s cardiopulmonary function is exceptional! The Royal Medical College of Country Y is requesting to collect his data!”

”The third young master’s irises are a rare, iridescent color! The Jewelers’ Association wishes to present a four-carat fancy diamond in celebration!”

”The fourth young master...”

The nurse suddenly choked up. ”The fourth young master... he’s grabbed Old Sir Jiang’s Dragon Head Walking Stick and won’t let go!”

Everyone laughed. Old Sir Jiang’s booming voice echoed through the room. ”Relay my order as head of the family! Add the armory as an option for the first birthday ritual! And frame the map to our new diamond mine in the NF Continent in gold!”

As dawn broke, the hashtag #JiangQuadsShockTheWorld immediately shot to the top of global trending charts.

The drone-powered light show above the Jiang Mansion continued until noon, spelling out a four-line acrostic poem:

The Jiang dominion, forever secure; the Yao sun, forever bright.

Meanwhile, Ji Xiaosong, the new mother at the center of this storm, was resting her head on Jiang Yao’s arm while reviewing a musical score.

Screens surrounding the birthing bed displayed live feeds from the four nurseries. In each room, a smart cradle played ”Lullaby” in a different language, the music a live performance by a world-class orchestra, vibrating gently through bone-conduction headphones.

”Mommy’s little superstars.”

She planted a kiss on the invitation letter for the latest international award she had received. ”Once you’re a little bigger, our whole family will go dazzle the world on stage, how about that?”

Jiang Yao teased her, ”You really need to focus on your recovery. Anyone else having quadruplets would have a C-section, but you insisted on risking your life for a natural birth. Do you have any idea how terrified we were?”

’Actually, I didn’t feel any pain at all. But with so many people watching, if I seemed too unaffected, it would attract unwanted attention and be difficult to explain later.’

’It was better to put on a little show and let everyone think giving birth was a difficult ordeal for me.’

The Jiang family truly valued her, spoiling her with a life of luxury and ease.

Especially during her postpartum confinement, a faint medicinal aroma permeated the waterside pavilion east of the Jiang’s old house. An automated, light-filtering dome transformed the harsh midday sun into the soft glow of an early spring morning.

Ji Xiaosong snuggled into the comfortable ”cocoon” of a levitating bed, woven from 270 airbags, and watched the medical team on standby around the clock beyond the glass wall.

The Mutton Fat Jade Lock on her wrist suddenly grew warm—a signal from the nursery. The quadruplets’ smart cradles were playing a pre-recorded version of ”Variations on Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” by Jiang Yao.

”It is time to clear the Young Madam’s Sanjiao meridian.”

Twelve young women from prestigious traditional medicine families entered in succession, each holding a Jade Guasha Stone. Mrs. Jiang herself knelt by the bed, holding a small, gilded cup.

Ji Xiaosong had just finished a broth laced with thousand-year-old wild ginseng powder when a cool jade scraping board was pressed against her lower back. It traveled along her governor and conception vessels, the scraping motion producing a gilded aura that resonated with the bio-electric pulses emanating from the base of the levitating bed.

She watched her own meridian chart on a digital screen, where flowing, amber-colored dots of light were slowly consuming her stretch marks, dissolving them into fine stardust.

Jiang Yao, wearing a sterile mask, burst through the carved wooden doors just in time to see his wife’s acupoints being sealed with Golden Needles.

Thirty-six specially-made filiform needles quivered on her snow-white skin, arranged in the pattern of a Star Constellation Map.

The descendant of a former Imperial Physician dipped their fingertips in Blood Amber Essential Oil and slowly massaged it into her Zusanli Acupoint, creating concentric ripples.

”Didn’t we agree you’d wait for me to help you with your pelvic floor exercises?”

The new dad hurriedly set down a thermos filled with Glacial Water, and his watch projected an AI-generated 3D model of her musculature. ”See? Today’s contraction strength is 18.6% higher than yesterday’s...”

As dusk began to fall, the entire estate suddenly resonated with the sound of the ”Ode to Joy” symphony.

Draped in a Su Embroidery Robe adorned with a phoenix pattern, Ji Xiaosong stepped into a hot spring pool carved from Han Baiyu marble.

Ice Cracked Porcelain Plates from a Northern Song Official Kiln floated on the water’s surface, each holding Snow Clam Bird’s Nest Capsules freshly prepared by a molecular gastronomist.

The moment she bit through the edible gold foil, the star map on the dome overhead switched to the constellation Orion. An anti-gravity device at the bottom of the pool regulated the water’s current to pulse rhythmically, just like amniotic fluid in the womb.

The restoration ceremony late on the seventh night was the most spectacular of all.

As the abdominal binder, made from aerospace materials, tightened automatically for the eighteenth time, forty Mystical Sect Disciples circled her bed, chanting from the Medicine Master Sutra.

Father Jiang directed a fleet of drones to precisely dispense a medicinal bath tonic into the hot spring pool.

Ji Xiaosong looked in the mirror at her already-flat abdomen and laughed aloud as Mrs. Jiang tucked a smart pillow into her arms.

Hidden beneath the Su embroidery brocade were hundreds of digital love letters. Pressing and holding the third frog-style button played a recording of a young Jiang Yao’s bashful love confession.

Before dawn on the day marking one full month since the birth, Ji Xiaosong awoke to the gentle rocking of her levitating bed.

Nine hundred and ninety-nine custom drones were in the process of sending the quadruplets’ first hair clippings into space. Leaning on a newly crafted jade dragon head cane, Old Sir Jiang was directing three hundred artisans who were preparing to build a variety of toys for the babies.

Ji Xiaosong reached out to catch a ginkgo leaf that drifted in through the window. She discovered the footprints of her four children nano-etched onto its delicate veins.

Just then, Jiang Yao, carrying the scent of the night dew, embraced her from behind. ”The medical pod reported that your uterine recovery speed has broken all records. This postpartum therapy really does work.”

Ji Xiaosong let out a laugh.

”Of course it works. I’m a star, after all. I need to be ready to appear before the public, looking my best at all times.”

When the hashtag #WorldsMostExpensivePostpartumBill started trending globally, Ji Xiaosong was lying in an aerospace-grade restoration pod for her final pelvic scan.

A custom anti-gravity device from RS Country suspended her in a soft glow three inches off the floor. Outside the bulletproof glass, the ”Four Symbols Womb-Guarding Gifts,” presented by kneeling Jiang Clan Members, were piled high as a small hill.

The sounds of crying from the nursery intertwined with an AI-generated lullaby, creating a bizarrely beautiful harmony.

She watched the flow of light in her meridians on the screen; it was even more vigorous than it had been before she gave birth.

Suddenly, she heard Old Sir Jiang’s booming roar echo through several doors: ”Tear up that map of the new diamond mine in the NF Continent! I want my great-grandson’s diaper analysis report framed instead!”

Just then, the dome sprinkled a fine mist infused with agarwood molecules. Amid the sound of the gentle rain, Ji Xiaosong laughed and collapsed into her husband’s arms.

”Isn’t everyone being a little over-the-top?”

Jiang Yao kissed Ji Xiaosong’s forehead. ”They’re our children. They deserve to enjoy any and every kind of life.”
