When a Blade of Grass Wants to Become Immortal

Chapter 153: Chapter 150: The Apocalypse Big Shot Arrives 27 (Finale)

The day the lettuce seeds were planted, all the children in the class gathered around.

”Gu Xi, will the growth potion you poured this time really work?”

A chubby little boy asked with a worried expression. He hated eating vegetables more than anything, so if Gu Xi successfully grew them, wouldn’t his mother make him eat even more?

Vegetables at the base were currently in limited supply. If Gu Xi’s vegetables were mass-produced in the future, it was self-evident what his mother would do.

The little fatty shivered at the thought of that scenario.

”It’ll definitely work this time. Just you wait, soon you’ll all have more vegetables to eat every day.”

Gu Xi stared intently at the lettuce seeds, even increasing the input of her Wood Ability’s energy.

”Gu Xi, can you grow sweet vegetables? Vegetables are all bitter. I don’t like them.”

The little fatty’s family had repeatedly warned him never to break any of Gu Xi’s things.

If Gu Xi ever actually managed to create this kind of potion that promotes plant growth, she would be a hero to all of humanity.

”Okay! In the future, we’ll grow all sorts of flavored vegetables. That way, the adults won’t be able to force us to eat them anymore.”

The moment Gu Xi’s voice fell, the soil where the seeds had just been buried seemed to be gently stirred by an invisible hand. First, it bulged slightly, and then a tender green shoot drilled out from the earth.

The green shoot shot upward at a speed visible to the naked eye, its leaves continuously unfurling and growing larger.

In an instant, what was once a tiny lettuce seedling grew into a lush patch of lettuce.

The children were all stunned. Their eyes went wide, and their mouths formed ”O”s.

The little fatty, in particular, was frozen in place, the worry on his face instantly replaced by shock.

”Th-This is too amazing!” a little girl with a ponytail couldn’t help but exclaim.

Gu Xi looked at her ”masterpiece,” the corners of her mouth turning up in a satisfied smile.

She squatted down and gently stroked the lettuce leaves, feeling the vibrant power of life.

Just then, a gentle breeze swept past, making the lettuce leaves rustle.

”Gu Xi, you’re amazing!”

”We can really eat vegetables every day from now on!”

The children all crowded around, their eyes filled with admiration.

The little fatty came over too, scratching his head shyly. ”Gu Xi, I was just worried, but I never thought you’d actually do it.”

Gu Xi smiled and said, ”This is just the beginning. In the future, we’ll grow even more amazing vegetables!”

Just then, the commotion attracted the base’s teachers. When they saw the vast, vibrant patch of lettuce, they were just as shocked. It was as if a beautiful blueprint for the future of vegetable cultivation was slowly unfolding on this small plot of land.

In the days that followed, Gu Xi also developed easy-to-carry nutrient packs and various potions that could rapidly heal wounds.

Their effects were so potent that even Ji Xiaosong couldn’t help but stock up on them.

In this life, Ji Xiaosong only had one child: Gu Xi.

She spent the rest of her time researching the system of superpowers and the zombies of the apocalypse.

After the zombies in the country were completely wiped out, she took Gu Lin abroad.

As long as the foreigners offered good enough compensation, the country’s Superpower Users were not opposed to teaming up and going abroad to earn Crystal Cores.

Because the Natural Energy from the world was purer than that from Crystal Cores, people in their country now absorbed Natural Energy for their Cultivation.

The situation abroad was different. Most people didn’t know how to remove the virus from zombie Crystal Cores, which led to many Superpower Users being infected for nothing.

When Gu Xi was ten years old, Ji Xiaosong and Gu Lin were invited to the former number one superpower, the Water Country, to exterminate zombies.

The Water Country had a large territory, but most of it had been uninhabited before the apocalypse.

After the apocalypse, due to constant natural and man-made disasters, by the time Ji Xiaosong and Gu Lin set foot on this land, there wasn’t a speck of green to be seen anywhere.

The person who received them sighed. ”Miss Ji, Mr. Gu, we didn’t want this land to become what it is today. A year ago, I was invited to your esteemed country and saw life flourishing everywhere, even more beautiful than before the apocalypse. Now, our country might have fewer than a thousand survivors. We were truly at our wit’s end, which is why we invited you two to bring a team to help exterminate the zombies.”

Ji Xiaosong released her Divine Sense to scan the area. Indeed, the entire continent was devoid of green, looking even more miserable than what she had seen at the beginning of the apocalypse.

”Miss Ji, this is a matter for all of humanity. We hope you will all lend us your full support!”

Ji Xiaosong nodded slightly and said in a deep voice, ”In that case, we will certainly do our utmost.”

With that, she and Gu Lin quickly began organizing the tens of thousands of Superpower Users they had brought from their country.

These Superpower Users each showcased their strengths. Fire Ability Users were like a prairie fire, engulfing zombies in raging flames wherever they went;

Wind Ability Users howled past, the gales they summoned scattering the zombie hordes;

while Earth Ability Users erected sturdy defensive lines to block the zombies’ frenzied attacks...

With everyone working together, the zombies fell like a tide, and the extermination mission proceeded very smoothly.

However, as they ventured deeper into the continent’s core region, a powerful and bizarre aura washed over them.

Ji Xiaosong’s heart clenched. She immediately realized this was no ordinary zombie.

Soon, a huge zombie, wreathed in black mist, appeared before them.

Ji Xiaosong felt that this zombie’s aura was not entirely unfamiliar. Taking a closer look, she discovered it was a Tenth Rank Spiritual System zombie. Beside it stood a dense army of zombies, numbering in the millions.

The Spiritual System zombie let out a shrill roar, its powerful spiritual power sweeping toward Ji Xiaosong’s team like a storm of sharp blades.

Many Superpower Users instantly clutched their heads and groaned in pain, their combat effectiveness greatly reduced.

Ji Xiaosong quickly circulated her Spiritual Power, forming an invisible shield that protected her teammates.

The two sides were locked in a stalemate, the battle reaching a deadlock.

”I never expected this. I already brought my followers and fled to the other side of the ocean, so why did you chase me here?”

The Spiritual System zombie suddenly spoke, catching Ji Xiaosong off guard for a moment.

Over the years, it wasn’t that she hadn’t seen High-level zombies; some of them had already regained their consciousness.

But none of them retained their memories from when they were human; all their memories were from after they became zombies.

”Have we met before?”

Ji Xiaosong tried hard to recall, but she truly couldn’t find any memory of fighting it in the past.

The zombie said mechanically, ”I once led my followers to confront Gu Lin, and I also led an attack on the Southern City Base. After seeing you two in action, I knew we couldn’t win. So I later took most of the zombies and left your country, coming to this side of the ocean.”

”So, you don’t actually want to fight us?”

”Of course. You discovered how to draw energy from nature, so you don’t need to be our enemies. Naturally, I have no need to fight you. Besides, I’ve also discovered that as zombies, we can absorb the violent energy in nature to strengthen ourselves. We don’t necessarily have to eat people.”

”What do you propose?”

”Humans and we zombies will live in separate regions, leaving each other in peace from this day forward.”

Ji Xiaosong glanced at the others around her. Seeing that most of them nodded, she agreed.

”In that case, I can set up a Teleportation Array to send you to an island in the south. There are no survivors left there, and it should be just enough for you to live on.”

”It’s a deal.”

”It’s a deal.”

Ji Xiaosong took out a Transmission Array Plate she had collected in who-knows-which world. With a slash of her Spiritual Power through the air, all the zombies stood in a circle.

”Go and call all of your followers over. As long as they stand within the area I’ve drawn, they can be teleported instantly.”

”They’re all already here.”

Ji Xiaosong scanned with her Divine Sense and found that it was true. So, she used the Transmission Array Plate to send them all away.

”Miss Ji, you’re just letting them go? What if they get out again in the future?”

The person who had received them earlier was still uneasy. If they did get out, their numbers were terrifying.

”I will place a Barrier around the island they live on to prevent them from leaving or anyone from breaking in.”

”C-Couldn’t we just exterminate them all?”

Ji Xiaosong scoffed. ”We have tens of thousands. They have millions. What do you think our chances of victory are?”

Now the others fell silent. The situation just now had indeed been exactly as she described.

The Zombie King had come with millions of zombies; they were no match for that.

”Let’s go, everyone. Come with me to that island to set up the Barrier.”

Ji Xiaosong led the group and, following the same method she had used to set up a Barrier in her own country, placed another one along the perimeter of the island where the zombies now lived.

For several years after, Ji Xiaosong and her family dedicated themselves to restoring life to the planet.

Although they would still encounter many random natural disasters for no reason, as long as people were alive for another day, they would persevere for another day.
