Pillar of Yita

But upon careful reflection, even Toragotos had once traveled to that place, and after returning, underwent a drastic change in temperament. Although it might have had the seed of the Dark Force buried within it early on, this at least indicates that it must have encountered something on Scepter Coast.

Thinking of Toragotos, Fang Hong couldn’t help but recall the incident he had encountered underground at Mount Pieriad. Had that Green Dragon truly been resurrected? Even the circumstances surrounding its death now seemed to be full of mysteries.

Many clues appeared to be gradually linking together. Fang Hong couldn’t help but turn his hand over and examine the badge. Is the secret that Luen Linxiu told him about ’Quinlars’ the true essence behind all these events?

...

”Didn’t find the person?”

Eternal Night looked at the person in front of him.

The person shook his head, sweating profusely and panting, ”Chairman, we’ve asked everyone, some have seen them, some haven’t. But with so many people at the docks, nobody would pay random attention to strangers. No one could say for sure where they went.”

”What do you mean them, it’s our people, don’t you know who it is?” Eternal Night frowned, instinctively a bit displeased: ”If it weren’t for them, neither I nor any of you would be in this world anymore.”

The person was frightened into silence.

”Eternal Night,” Paradise Blossoms stepped in to calm him down: ”Let it go, there’s no need to vent at them. It’s quite normal. Think about it, if someone asked you or me if we remember which direction a stranger headed half an hour ago, would you recall?”

Eternal Night sighed. He knew the objective reason; it was just frustrating to spend so long searching for someone, only to find them suddenly appear before him and then vanish without a trace. Anyone would feel a bit restless.

In fact, regarding that person’s death, whether in the community or internally on Fenris Isle, there have always been two opinions. Support for the idea that they didn’t escape and the belief that their body must be found have constantly conflicted, still arguing to this day.

Logically, he ought to stand with the former viewpoint, but subconsciously, he vaguely felt that the person likely did not stay in the Abyss beneath Fenris Isle. The reason is simple: with such a major incident, how could the person disappear without a trace?

Even if they returned to the other side of the Stargate, there should still be some news coming back.

But until this day, for the first time, he was convinced he hadn’t been wrong, but unfortunately, the evidence was right there, yet he couldn’t seize the opportunity.

Feeling a bit exhausted thinking of this, he apologized to the person.

”I’m sorry, Chairman... I didn’t mean it,” the person replied softly.

”I understand,” Eternal Night sighed again, reenergizing himself slightly, ”It’s okay. As long as we haven’t misjudged the person, it at least means our guess was correct. As long as they’re alive, one day we’ll find them.”

”Chairman,” the person spoke again, ”I think... since he’s in this place, and this port isn’t very big, we can mobilize manpower to sift through every part of this place. I think their appearance at the docks suggests they’ve just arrived; if so, they shouldn’t leave quickly... ”

Eternal Night was slightly stunned, then brightened up.

Paradise Blossoms also brightened up, looking at the person, ”You’ve got a point; that’s indeed a good idea.”

While speaking, he turned back to his old buddy, ”Eternal Night.”

Eternal Night waved his hand, interrupting him.

”No need to say more, I get it,” Eternal Night replied, ”But Iron Cliff Port may be small, yet with the few people we brought, searching the whole place might take at least ten days, if not half a month. How can you be sure they’ll stay here that long?”

Paradise Blossoms was silent for a moment before tentatively answering, ”Maybe we can find a method.”

”What method, blocking the port? How do you plan to persuade the Ancient Tower People?”

”Blocking the port isn’t feasible,” Paradise Blossoms shook his head. Fenris’s Blood Ship has made some name in the Cloud Sea, but not to that extent, ”But we can go to the Port Authority, find a way to get information on all recent incoming vessel routes, and ideally, find a way to have them linger here for a while.”

The so-called regular vessels are fixed flights between various ports. Although private ships can also carry people, in this era where merchants going out to sea might become pirates, few dare easily entrust their life to someone else’s character.

So, generally speaking, without their own airship, the way Invokers travel across the sea is often by relying on these regular vessels.

Eternal Night looked back at him, ”But how do you plan to persuade the Ancient Tower People?”

”That’s simple enough,” Paradise Blossoms confidently replied, ”The most critical aspect of a regular vessel is its safety; just introduce the threat of pirates.”

”You’re planning to impersonate pirates?” Eternal Night looked surprised at him, not expecting his old buddy to be so bold and unconventional.

It’s not something to be taken lightly; although many pirate groups exist among Invokers, once you choose that identity, you’re likely restricted to docking only at Freedom Port. While just a disguise, even pretending has significant risks of exposure.

”Not at all, where’s your mind wandering?” Paradise Blossoms shook his head, ”Don’t worry, I have my ways.”

Eternal Night squinted, silently contemplating, and finally nodded. ”Okay then,” he replied, ”If that’s the case, we shouldn’t just focus on the Ancient Tower People; I’ll find a way to notify Cloud Harbor to send more personnel over. Pirate issues can’t be hidden long, and these vessels can’t indefinitely remain docked at Iron Cliff Port.”

Paradise Blossoms nodded; partnering with an old buddy made things simpler, without needing to waste more words.
