Pillar of Yita

For ten years, he had always believed that his parents had fallen victim to an accident.

But now someone was telling him that it was a deliberate conspiracy.

Just the thought that the mysterious figure who sent him to this world—the one with the ID named Rekehtopa—might be tied to his parents’ death made Fang Hong dizzy with a rush of emotions.

It wasn’t particularly surprising to him that his parents were Invokers.

His uncle and aunt had consistently opposed him becoming an Invoker. Privately, hadn’t he considered that this might be related to his parents? Although it seemed cliché, sometimes clichés are rooted in reality, and now it was merely confirmed.

But his uncle was also an Invoker—his father’s close friend. Could he know everything behind this? Why then have he and his aunt opposed him becoming an Invoker for the past ten years? Perhaps the reason needs a big question mark.

He kept rehearsing all this in his mind, walking dazedly like a walking corpse, to the point that when Gita greeted him softly from the side, he didn’t even notice.

Gita, seeing her captain in such a state of despair, felt a bit at a loss. She’d never seen him like this before. Panicked, she fetched Tianlan, and after the two deliberated, they realized they should notify Atira, Hilveld, and Tang Xin.

The first one they contacted was Elf Miss. Once Atira heard what was happening, she immediately dropped everything and rushed over.

However, the first thing Fang Hong truly heard was that voice from the depths of his mind:

”Mr. Knight.”

”Mr. Knight—”

He hesitated slightly, finally responding, realizing it was Miss Tata’s gentle voice. That voice was like a clear spring injecting into his parched heart, awakening him. Somewhat confused, he lifted his head to find quite a few people gathered around him:

”Miss Atira, Tianlan, Gita, Hilveld...Luo Yu, Tang Xin, why are you all here?”

Tang Xin looked at him with great concern: ”Brother, what’s wrong with you?”

Fang Hong had never seen such a worried expression on his cousin’s face before. She was so concerned that her face was drained of color, and her anxious and vulnerable look seemed to hit the deepest part of his heart—a stream of memories over the past ten years seemed to flow back into his consciousness.

She was his sister. Together with his uncle and aunt, they comprised all his memories of family and love. The warm feeling seemed to quickly return to his heart, making him open his mouth. No matter what, they were his family, they were the ones he loved the most, and he had promised to protect his sister and Crybaby at all costs.

A smile that was more wretched than crying finally appeared on Fang Hong’s face. He shook his head, his voice a little hoarse: ”I’m fine. Where are uncle and aunt?”

”My dad and the others are in the living room, the place the military arranged for us is quite nice,” Tang Xin carefully examined him: ”Brother, are you really okay?”

”I’m... I’m really fine, I just heard some shocking news, a bit lost in thought, that’s all.”

While speaking, Fang Hong looked at Hilveld, knowing that while his cousin might believe blindly in him despite claiming he’s a fool, there was no deceiving the smart Miss Ship’s Officer with such clumsy acting.

But Hilveld only looked at him, giving him a faint smile, those eyes brimming with quiet laughter as if they could speak, gradually calming him down. Fang Hong breathed a sigh of relief; at least Miss Ship’s Officer didn’t expose him in front of everyone.

Miss Atira also watched him with a bit of concern. Fang Hong understood she too must have noticed something but chose not to voice it with her usual gentle and tolerant demeanor.

Luo Yu looked at him as if wanting to say something, but Fang Hong gave him a look, to which he nodded slightly. Sometimes between men, not much needs to be said; they understand the kind of people they are, and what pressure and responsibilities they can bear.

”I want to see uncle and aunt.”

”I’ll take you there,” Tang Xin said, frowning at him, ”They want to see you too.”

”Tangtang.”

”Hmm, what is it?”

”Nothing,” Fang Hong shook his head, ”I just wanted to call you.”

”You’re acting weird.”

This finally made Fang Hong smile a bit.

...

Compared to his daughter, Tang Sheng actually understood his ’son’ better.

Yes, in every way, both he and his wife had long considered the son of their close friend as their own child, even stricter with Fang Hong than with Tang Xin.

That is why, when they saw the look on Fang Hong’s face, they couldn’t help but pause and look at each other. For a moment, the living room fell silent, neither the siblings nor the couple spoke.

The military was investigating Little Hong’s matters; Tang Sheng and Zhang Rou were naturally aware that sneaking through the Stargate was no small feat; it involved due processes. As for the secrets they had concealed over the past decade, both knew exactly how long they could keep them from the military.

Zhang Rou’s face turned slightly pale. As a strong-willed woman, Fang Hong had rarely seen such an expression on his aunt’s face. ”Little Hong,” she couldn’t help but call softly, reaching out to hold Fang Hong’s hand. She hesitated in midair but firmly took his hand anyway.
