Pillar of Yita

Fang Hong ultimately didn’t get his Variant Lingus Guard.

The reason was that he made the Chairwoman of the Tansnier Crafting Association cry—

When everyone gathered around, curious about this young, newly appointed Fairy Master, our Madam Chairwoman stood off to the side, thinking more and more about how she had lost out. The more she thought she had lost out, the sadder she became, until she couldn’t hold back her tears anymore, sniffled, and ran out of the hall in front of everyone.

Leaving behind a bunch of people stunned into silence.

In the end, it was the people from the Artisan Association who stepped in to mediate and dissolved the wager between him and Madam Chairwoman. They also promised to compensate him with some equivalent Magic Guided Constructs, thus finally resolving the aftermath of the incident.

However, Fang Hong felt awkward bringing up the matter of the Variant Guardian again at this time—because everyone’s gaze in the hall was extremely peculiar, even Hilveld beside him had a look of suppressed laughter, almost failing to hold back a smile several times.

Even though the one who ran away crying was Madam Chairwoman.

Fang Hong felt that the most awkward person was actually himself.

Because the Lady Giant Spirit only blushed and hid in her office pretending to be an ostrich, refusing to see anyone. Meanwhile, he had to face the kind yet teasing smiles of everyone—granted, Tansnier Crafting Association, though located in a remote area, certainly didn’t consist only of natives, but also plenty of Invokers.

Thus, some mischief-makers managed to turn the incident into a community sensation.

Even though the distance made it hard to see his face clearly, you could imagine the commotion this stirred on the community front—and what new nickname he might have earned—you only need to hear the jest from the people in the Artisan Association to understand:

”Hey, little guy, you’re really too good at causing trouble.”

”Only yesterday you were brawling at the Sand Lodge.”

”Today you’ve made our Chairwoman cry.”

”It’s just... Lady Aierna actually has a decent heart, haha...”

”Haha, she’s just a bit narrow-minded, after all, those things are her lifeblood...”

Fang Hong then understood, Aierna hails from the giant lineage of Coleman Island—it’s said this lineage isn’t of giants but descended from divine beings—yet this legendary heritage unfortunately didn’t bring them a good fate. Locals long misunderstood them to be related to giants, hence they faced hostility and exclusion.

This misconception was only recently cleared up, but the integration of the giant lineage into Colin Ishurian hasn’t been long, compounded by their natural and peaceful living style, in short, they haven’t much wealth or savings. Thus, when passively receiving the dual ’social transformation’ brought by Alchemists and Invokers, they become even more at a loss—

”Lady Aierna is a rare talent among the giant lineage, she was recognized by the Istania Alchemists Association early on, and became an excellent Alchemist among them,” a middle-aged craftsman told them, shaking his head, ”But due to some early-life reasons... maybe a bit too proud and sensitive...”

But essentially, she’s quite a reliable lady and greatly trusted by the guild.

By the way, Lady Aierna recently completed the adulthood ceremony of the giant lineage, so her age might be a bit younger than you’d imagine.”

Fang Hong listened to the explanation and finally understood.

Though the giant lineage is a minority among Colin Ishurian, they are nonetheless part of this diverse kingdom, hence he had learned about the maturity standard of the giant lineage, roughly equivalent to humans at the age of twenty-one to twenty-two.

This means the other party isn’t much older than him, yet she’s already a regional guild chairwoman, no wonder she’s called a rare genius among the giant lineage. The giant lineage, you know, is tall and robust, full of vigor, regardless of gender, but their minds often don’t turn too fast.

Of course, they’re not dumb, just react rather slowly.

And this is the native standard, calling it genius is somewhat an understatement for this lady.

Once in a hundred years isn’t far off.

”Did Lady Aierna encounter any life issues early on?”

”...Simply put, it’s impoverishment, while studying at the Istania Guild, she always lived in the sewers... until the craftspeople discovered this. But even so, Lady Aierna once refused aid, she’s quite a person of pride.”

Actually, Lady Aierna only recently became permanent, as she had previously worked as a voluntary craftsman for the guild to repay the debts incurred during her studies, so should have... little savings.”

Another craftsman chimed in, ”I heard that Guardian was saved by her frugality. Since fairy masters are quite popular among craftsmen and earn quickly, she’s been researching fairy master matters lately.”

Fang Hong thought, no wonder.

But for a guild chairwoman to end up in such a state, it’s quite pitiable.

Yet on another thought—he actually made a chairwoman of an Artisan Association cry in public and flee—such an occurrence is indeed rather sensational. Though the jest from everyone, Fang Hong scratched his head, feeling this wasn’t a glorious thing.

But clearly, others didn’t quite think so.

The craftsmen still praised him: ”Though Ade can only make a fairy construct move, it’s still truly commendable, among a thousand craftsmen, there may not be one who can reach such a level. Besides, you’re still so young, your prospects are promising, may even tread the path of a fairy master.”
