Pillar of Yita

The Knight Commander discarded his sword onto the ground, gratefully thanking Diket for sparing them from being trapped in an unjust place. Although the knights of today are not as rigid as those from the Ancient Times, they still uphold virtues.

Who is this?

The live broadcast room couldn’t hear the conversation between the two sides from afar.

But people were already shocked beyond measure just watching this scene.

Someone who can make a knight turn back with just a word, is surely no ordinary person. And that young man, just what kind of divine being is he? He seems to be a Native, why would so many people choose to side with him at this time?

The military and the Natives, what kind of combination is this?

The people’s hearts were filled with confusion.

Count Roniel felt the same way.

Who is this, he screamed in his mind.

He was almost spewing fire from his eyes as he watched this scene, cursing these Northerners without any sense of loyalty in his heart. The Scepter of Authority gripped tightly in his hand seemed like he wanted to crush the knights’ necks.

Unfortunately, the knights paid no mind to his fury, or perhaps did not care, as they passed through the soldiers and left.

Count Roniel could only hope that his soldiers might be somewhat reliable, but he also knew the situation might be contrary to his expectations.

Then Diket raised his sword and slashed it from left to right before him, a deep sword mark over ten feet long appeared on the plaza, and the granite slabs beneath his sword were easily cut as if they were tofu.

The soldiers, seeing this, all took a step back.

And Diket stood before the sword mark, saying: ”Step forward and let me see your courage.”

Upon hearing these words

The poorly trained City Defense Force immediately wavered, fleeing backward. Even the Praetor’s guard at the back showed fear, knowing with the level displayed by that sword, approaching meant certain death.

Relying on the protection of Elfendo, with long-standing peace, Fanric’s guards had long forgotten their valiant courage. Sending them against a mere young man might be achievable, but facing the military, or even this knight, was essentially doomed to fail with not a chance of fighting back.

Only the massive ’Iron Curtain’ Construct, creaking and swaying as it faced Diket, with sparks flash on the shooting platform, and smoke rising.

But the spinning projectiles never made it close, as if they hit an invisible wall, with a thin golden light pattern like a giant veil, the width exceeding ten feet, about the height of one and a half persons. It seemed like Diket didn’t do anything, but once the bullets passed through the wall, they split into two, clattering to the ground.

”The Celestial Veil—!”

”That person is a Paladin of the Holy Temple!”

A startled cry came from the large Construct.

”Retreat quickly, retreat quickly!”

”It won’t turn around!”

The craftsmen were almost in tears.

Diket raised his sword, an angled slash, a dazzling arc of the sword.

Then, people first saw a white frost mark appear from the upper left to lower right on the gigantic Construct. Then, along this icy line, the Construct emitted a piercing screech, and its upper and lower halves staggered apart, crashing to the ground.

Everyone had their mouths wide open.

This was the final rank of the Paladin in the First World, the Holy Temple.

Level fifty Paladin.

”You are a Paladin of the Holy Temple,” Count Roniel drew a sharp breath, exclaiming angrily: ”How can you stand on the side of the Rebels!?”

Diket looked at him, shook his head: ”I pursue Marlan, only following my heart.”

Roniel was speechless.

Suddenly, he stuttered as he pointed at Diket, as if finally recognizing his identity: ”Wait, you are Diket, Diket Grolfin, how is this possible, you disappeared for over twenty years!?”

His words caused an uproar.

The viewers in the live broadcast room might not be familiar with the name Ditke Grolfin, but anyone who mentioned his son would know him, without exception.

Because that was Roban.

Roban Grolfin.

”Sir Diket is so handsome!” Tianlan exclaimed, eyes filled with starry admiration.

Fang Hong, who had just stopped the bleeding for Gita, raised his head to look in the direction. But unlike Tianlan, he wasn’t as relieved. He was well aware that the power used by Misu—or should he say Nikopolas—might not be good for Diket as the Power of Golden Flame penetrated deeper the longer it was used.

He looked at Diket’s eyes, which had turned completely golden, deeply worried. Those eyes were nearly identical to the ones he’d seen in his memory, in his nightmares, resembling the dust of the earth, with the Golden Star Fire rising amid the dust.

And behind that was the shadow of the Black Dragon’s wings, blocking out the sky.

He took a gentle breath to pull himself from this phantom, feeling a faint throbbing in his heart, as if two voices were checking on his safety one after another. One of the voices was full of childishness, asking in a cute tone:

”Papa?”

He didn’t have time to correct this strange address with the newly born little one, only telling her and Tata not to worry.

As he helped Gita up, he asked: ”Are you alright?”

Gita shook his head, pale-faced.

”We need to leave this place,” Ande said after seeing him save the person: ”There are many emergency passages beneath Elfendo, but the precondition is we can leave the plaza.”

”We should meet up with Sir Diket.”

Fang Hong glanced around, noticing that the military personnel could no longer hold back the Praetor’s men, and more and more soldiers were converging toward their location.

”It’s too late,” Phales said in the sharp voice characteristic of a Dwarf: ”They’ve already arrived, Ande and I will stay behind to cover your escape. You must hurry to Diket, he will get you out of here.”
