Pillar of Yita

But at this moment, she suddenly saw someone emerge from the tourists in the corridor and rush towards Sicape from behind.

Tang Xin was slightly startled seeing this scene and instinctively exclaimed, ”Watch out!”

She thought it was too late.

But Sicape reacted even faster than she imagined, turning with a lightning-fast spin kick, hitting the person’s abdomen. If this were on the ground, the kick would have likely sent them flying, landing heavily back down.

Yet, in the zero-gravity environment, the person just flew backwards, returning to the tourists.

It was then that the tourists seemed to react, screaming in fright, while the person rolled on the ground from the momentum, and without looking back, quickly vanished into the crowd.

Sicape chased a few steps in that direction but stopped when she saw the person disappear, giving up on the pursuit. She shook her head at the direction and then turned back, smiling at Tang Xin who had warned her: ”Thanks.”

Tang Xin closed her mouth.

She had acted instinctively earlier; after all, when did she ever see something like this on Earth? If it were driven purely by reason, she might not have spoken up.

However, her best friend reacted much more dramatically. Just having turned her head, she saw Sicape’s side kick and couldn’t help but exclaim with admiration, ”So cool!”

Sicape looked at the two young girls and smiled, ”Is this your first time at Stargate Port? As a thank you, how about I treat you to coffee at the Circular Hall?”

Tang Xin instinctively wanted to refuse.

But her friend eagerly nodded, ”The Circular Hall, as in the famous observation hall? I’ve heard of it, and planned to visit anyway!” She looked curiously at the badge on Sicape’s chest, ”Ah, are you an Invoker?”

Sicape glanced at her own pin, which bore the Stargate Port’s Star Ring symbol. It was merely a souvenir for Invokers, not expecting such excitement from the other.

Though she was from the older generation of Invokers, she knew it had become a popular profession with many fans, prompting a slight smile and a nod, ”Just a former Invoker.”

Unexpectedly, the girl was even more excited, ”Ah, so you’re a Pioneer!?”

”Not quite,” Sicape chuckled softly.

Tang Xin couldn’t help but rub her forehead, suddenly regretting telling the ’Little Princess’ about the history of the Invokers — knowing her Pigeon cousin loved the Pioneer era the most, she became curious herself, which oddly spread to her friend.

Sicape glanced at the two, finding the inquisitive girl somewhat endearing, yet her curiosity was piqued more by the quiet, introverted girl beside her.

After all, she had been the one to warn her earlier, and the way she looked straight at her before was intriguing. Confoundingly, Sicape had an odd sense of familiarity when looking at Tang Xin.

The feeling was very subtle and almost indescribable.

Thinking of this, she spoke again, ”Are you going to get a visa? Actually, the Chinese Embassy District isn’t far from the Circular Hall, so you won’t waste much time. I can take you there afterward, straight to the Embassy District.”

”Sure, sure.”

”Little Princess—”

”What’s wrong with it, Tangtang, it’s called reciprocity.”

Tang Xin glared at her friend and sighed.

Compared to her partner’s lack of scruples, she was obviously more cautious. However, pondering a moment, Tang Xin eventually nodded — partly because her companion insisted, and also because Stargate Port is large, essentially a space city providing residence for tens of thousands and still expanding.

This is also a three-dimensional city, labyrinthine inside.

Without guidance, a first-time visitor could waste considerable time wandering around.

And the saved time should be enough for a cup of coffee. Moreover, she did warn the other earlier, and it made sense for the other to express gratitude — after all, compensation follows effort, which is one of Tang Xin’s mottos.

Unlike her clueless cousin, she doesn’t engage in futile efforts.

Seeing the two agree, Sicape led them out of the zero-gravity corridor.

Upon entering the artificial gravity zone from the zero-gravity area, Stargate Port life isn’t much different from on the ground, except the scenery is more monotonous and dull, even with Earth in view. Day after day, one might tire of the sight.

However, for first-timers, everything is filled with novelty, and even Tang Xin couldn’t help but take another look at Stargate Port — after all, it is humanity’s largest, most complex, and systemic engineering feat in history.

Though it may just be the starting point of humanity’s space era, it shines in the annals of civilization.

Only when within this grand creation can one marvel at the manifestation of human genius and creativity, transcending their limits, all exemplified here.

Compared to her friend’s simple amazement, Tang Xin felt a deeper sense of reflection.

Of course, these are merely the sentiments of newcomers.

As for Sicape, she felt no such reflection, her daily life in such a place only bringing boredom — perhaps meeting two interesting girls was the only novelty.
