Pillar of Yita

At the moment the battle began, Feyos had resolved to die.

Yet, when the knight approached with his sword, the blood drained from the girl’s face. The knight looked at her, apologetically within, ”Miss Feyos, I’m sorry, don’t blame us, it’s Lord Praetor’s order.” With those words, he raised his sword, the blade reflecting the firelight, casting a lingering glow.

Feyos closed her eyes tightly and turned her head away. She still had two chances of resurrection, but surely there were Praetor’s men in the Holy Sanctuary; in this era where royal and divine power are interwoven, unless it’s the indifferent Lady Ameya, no other sanctuary would shelter a criminal.

She kept her eyes closed, replaying in her mind the scene where Young Master Enan took the blame for her.

She thought that perhaps this was the last time the two would meet.

Farewell then, Modkaesar Family, Young Master Enan.

Her tightly shut eyes couldn’t stop the tears from escaping—

But the imagined scenario did not occur. At the moment when the knight struck down with his sword, a hand reached out from the side to block the blade.

The blade dragged a bright trail of sparks across the metal armor on the arm, emitting a piercing screech. A few sparks bounced around, even landing on Feyos’ face, and hearing the sound, Miss Maid cautiously opened her eyes bit by bit.

Her long eyelashes trembled slightly, blankly watching as a tall silhouette stood blocking in front of her. The knight stepped back, also a bit taken aback by the scene.

The one standing between them was none other than the Chairman of Ragnarok, the God King Odin. The latter simply released his hand, lightly tugging to loosen the bloody ropes on Feyos, which fell to the ground with a rustling sound.

The knight lowered his sword, a bit at a loss: ”Mr. Odin, Miss Feyos she...”

Odin glanced at him, not even lifting an eyelid, and replied, ”I take over here, you can leave now.”

The knight opened his mouth.

But Odin spoke, ”Go tell the Praetor, Feyos was taken by an Invoker named Odin. The reason is naturally that I’m very displeased, and the reason he knows well in his heart. If he continues to act behind Ragnarok’s back, our cooperation will end here.”

The knight listened, dumbfounded and a bit confused, but Odin didn’t spare him a glance, simply supporting Feyos and moving to the side.

He also looked with a bit of heartache at the girl who was wounded all over, almost on the brink of death, before he spoke, ”I’m sorry, I misspoke, I promised to take you to Enan, but I didn’t expect them to do such things behind my back.”

Feyos looked at him with tearful eyes, stuttering as she asked, ”Mr. Odin, can I still see Young Master Enan?”

”Of course you can, but you need to recover first,” Odin replied in a deep voice, ”I promised to take you to him, and I will definitely do so.”

He gently set the girl down, then turned his head to glance in a direction before turning back around, ”Wait here for me, I’ll deal with a few matters. Soon, someone from our Guild will come to take care of you, rest assured—”

Feyos weakly nodded her head.

Seeing her agree, Odin turned around.

On the other side of the square, a person was walking out, holding a huge bow and wearing a gray cloak, it was Ye Hua.

Ye Hua looked at him and smiled, ”Long time no see.”

”Long time no see.” Odin nodded.

”Do we have to fight again?” Ye Hua asked.

The latter nodded slightly.

”To be honest,” Ye Hua shook his head, ”I don’t want to fight you on such a battlefield.”

Odin replied in a deep voice, ”Neither do I, but that’s the Guild’s decision.”

Ye Hua smiled, ”Aren’t you the Chairman?”

”What’s the use of being Chairman?” Odin shrugged, ”The club’s board calls the shots, unless you pay the penalty fee, I can join you?”

Ye Hua laughed heartily upon hearing this, raising his bow, ”I can’t afford it, so let’s just have a fight.”

Odin said nothing more, simply reaching for the hilt of the sword behind him.

...

The square was in total chaos, the gray, black, and red hues had completely intertwined, and Fang Hong looked around, taking in the chaotic battleground.

The battle had already reached an intense stage, with various spells flying overhead, igniting flames, or crashing into the spell shields and shattering into pieces. On one side of the battlefield stood some tall combat constructs.

Whether they were Magic Guided Conductor’s iron golems or Southern Region Alchemists’ creations.

But even so, the gray-robed line continued to retreat gradually.

In the midst of the chaos, occasionally Invokers from the New Southern Alliance would rush up to the trio, but Sophie took the lead, and in the hands of this Princess of Silver Weslan, there were almost no opponents who could withstand even a single round.

Though she was talented, what really made it frustrating was her extravagant equipment; under the Pale Flame, the number of Southern Alliance’s Invokers who fell by her sword was countless.

Yet, the three of them wore neither the red-black battle robes nor the gray attire, and didn’t resemble the City Defense Force; they were extremely inconspicuous on the battlefield, and those New Southern Alliance Invokers who died at Sophie’s hands probably never understood how they died—

And in the midst of this chaos, suddenly a striking piece of information leapt into Fang Hong’s vision.

’Two years, War of the Ten Kings—’

That was information on the community.

And at that moment, the square shook slightly, and then the ground sunk; it was a dull roar coming from the direction they had left earlier on the square.
