Pillar of Yita

In Fang Hong’s eyes, that flash of red light was somewhat similar to the Qv700’s scorching ray, but the Annihilator’s scorching ray was four beams, not one. He silently sensed that one of his pieces had been reduced, realizing it might be a simplified attack method on the board.

Then he obtained the right to move.

At this moment, the distance between the two sides was five squares.

Fang Hong now had a rough understanding of the rules of this competition. He discovered that his Clockwork Fairy did indeed have attributes:

’Attack 1, Defense 0, Life 1’

Of course, these were not the true attributes of the Clockwork Fairy. It’s likely just a simplified rule on this board, stipulating that the Clockwork Fairy can move three squares in one Margin Technique move, consuming 5 units of calculative power (before reduction).

He initially didn’t quite understand the meaning of these attributes, but after looking at the attributes of Vikki’s constructs, Fang Hong suddenly understood what this Beast Chess was about.

Walker: Attack 2, Defense 1, Life 2, Mobility 2.

Fearless One: Attack 3, Defense 0, Life 3, Mobility 2.

Shield Bearer: Attack 1, Defense 2, Life 2, Mobility 1.

Annihilator: Attack 1, Defense 0, Life 1, Mobility 1. (Range 5)

Each piece represents a different construct, all with different attributes, closely resembling their roles in reality, and different pieces also have different calculative power needs similar to real situations.

’Liox’s Beast Chess’ is essentially on this virtual board, where each contestant builds a construct army according to their abilities, using ’Margin Technique’ as the basis, for a simulated battle.

Although Fang Hong didn’t quite understand why it had to be ’Margin Technique,’ perhaps it was similar to the software Shana provided him, a training method?

Realizing this, Fang Hong couldn’t help but feel a headache for a moment.

He then realized that Vikki only generated seven pieces because her calculative power limit allowed her to control these seven pieces—of course, under the ’Beast Chess’ rules, the calculative power requirements of these different pieces were reduced by more than two-thirds.

It was not the rule of the competition that only allowed the use of a maximum of seven pieces.

He couldn’t help but slap his forehead in frustration.

The most unfortunate thing was that he generated seven Clockwork Fairies. Although under this rule, the advantage of the Clockwork Fairy is almost perfectly recreated—low calculative power need, high mobility, and even stronger than under normal circumstances.

In reality, three Clockwork Fairies would hardly match up to a Walker, let alone confront a Fearless One.

But regarding his calculative power, if he were just using Clockwork Fairies, he shouldn’t be seeing seven Clockwork Fairies on the board, but seventy; if Fang Hong weren’t worried about causing a sensation, using Miss Tata’s ability, there could be even more.

But now it’s too late to regret.

Like Vikki, although Fang Hong didn’t take the competition winning or losing so seriously, he didn’t want to lose unprovoked, nor had he considered voluntarily giving up.

The way of the competition was his choice, the pieces were generated by himself; it’s pointless to blame anyone else, Fang Hong considers himself to have at least one advantage, which is being rather optimistic.

Since regretting is meaningless now, what remains is to consider—how can six—not seven—Clockwork Fairies achieve victory? This thought flashed through his mind, seeming like no chance at all, but Fang Hong, after a brief pause, suddenly realized something.

He raised his head to look at the board.

But rather than looking at the board, it was as though through the board and the pieces on it, he saw the opponent on the other side of the network with whom he had a fleeting connection.

Fang Hong remained silent for a moment, then he put down the crystal in his hand, once again choosing to forgo movement.

”Ande Ulriel’s side... forfeits the move.” The referee was stunned for a moment, confirmed with Fang Hong, then announced it.

The hall was already in an uproar.

If earlier someone still thought Fang Hong was forfeiting due to tactics, now more and more people believed the former; that is, the contestant from Ande Ulriel’s side actually didn’t understand ’Margin’ Technique.

Old Dwarf Sonan Steelbrow’s eyebrows furrowed into a knot.

At least winning against the Old Blacksmith once would naturally count as a great joy in his life, but comparatively, he was more unwilling to witness such a lowly competition. Whether an Alchemist, or a Combat Artisan, one either succeeds or doesn’t.

Exaggerating and feigning knowledge, never is the way to pursue the truth of Alchemy, especially for an old craftsman like him, such a maxim is deeply ingrained in him. He didn’t quite understand what Ande Ulriel was thinking; though they were competitors, they were also old friends for years, this wasn’t something the other would do.

The Old Dwarf couldn’t help but feel somewhat worried for his old friend.

Vikki raised her head for the first time, seemingly sensing Fang Hong’s gaze, she also glanced at the other side of the board.

But deep in her eyes, there was a hint of anger—for many who want nothing more than to humiliate the weak, massacre the clueless—but for those who truly enjoy competition, Fang Hong’s passive approach was clearly challenging her limit.
